@Chithra
Nice art work, but it still looks, almost there,
Re: 2d/3d Art Gallery by chithra: 5:13am On May 25, 2010
Thanks. I cant get you. Can you tell me a little bit clearer?
Re: 2d/3d Art Gallery by Nobody: 11:46am On May 26, 2010
They are both nice. I think adding more details to 'Magic of Kindness' and more contrast to 'Unmatched Leader' will make them look better.

i think they are quite good and i think you actually have a talent for this. dont let the lack of comments on this fourm discourage u. its kinda a habit here.
i think you just gotta work a bit on edges and borders and nail the ones that need to be crisp and sharp be just that and the same for the blurry ones. i see some smearing on the monsters beard or what ever it goes for u get the ideah im sure u get what im talkin about. try to be a little more patient when painting and try to put in more detail. do one or two of these a week and you will be amazed on how far you'll go. jus make sure u keep improving.

First piece of a series of artwork im working on based on Nigerian Mythical Legends. This is my rendition of Sango. Its a non photorealistic 3d artwork, cause personally I felt photorealism wouldnt do this justice for what I wanted to achieve.Softwares used are 3dsmax, zbrush, and photoshop, with rendering done in Mental Ray. Duration, was a week, off and on. Stay Tuned for more.Peace.

Re: 2d/3d Art Gallery by xothermik(m): 7:08pm On Jun 10, 2010
quite refreshing to see a 3d artwork on a thread that was previously known for its 3d content. really nice work kolarewaju its nice to see a 3d artist that has some pride for african characters as most just want to do something that looks , well non african. keep up the good work. i dont understand what you mean by photorealism not going to do justice for what you want because thats what it looks like. at least looks like what you are gunning for. especially since the character does'nt seem to have any trace of being stylized and the proportions are quite realistic. also with the high res photos u used for the texturing.(i think) i think most would agree that this is closer to photorealism than not . but anyway more grease for yer elbow, or shud i say mouse.
Re: 2d/3d Art Gallery by kolarewaju: 7:26pm On Jun 10, 2010
@XOTHERMIC: Thanks 4 the comment, I used real textures but the rendering style was tweaked so it didnt look "seriously" photorealistic,no global illumination or final gather of the sort,im sure ure familiar with these terms. For instance, u can tell that its 3d or cg, theres no mistaking it, Working on some photorealistic work, hope to post it here soon so ull see the difference. Yoou part of the guys at EVCL studios right? More grease to your elbows too. wink

First attempt working on oceans usning Autodesk Maya.

Will post video clip here soon.

Very useful tool for renaming your image files if you messed up the numbering etc: http://download.cnet.com/File-Renamer-Basic/3000-2248_4-10306538.html

I rendered using Maya, but used the RAMPlayer in 3DS Max which l find more useful than Maya's playblast - to create uncompressed avi - this is best - and then used Adobe Media Encoder to encode in h.264/youtubr/vimeo acceptable video format.

3D Interior renderings

Re: 2d/3d Art Gallery by voldemort(m): 4:03pm On Aug 18, 2010
Worked on this adapted rendering using 3DSMax to learn more on water caustics, threw in some reflective long and short objects to see how they bend correctly with the water surface at the top of the pool.
Note:
Rendering time in the neighborhood of +10hrs even on an 8 core/8Gb/Win7 64bit OS machine.
Also to speed up static changes, create a reusable Final Gather map and a Caustics and Global Illumination Photon map - these are available options under the IL -Indirect Illumination tab in the Render Settings
