Link - http://ascology.com/news/green360/facts/21719-Man-United-most-supported-football-club-Nigeria-the-World.html LAGOS, - Manchester United has been voted the most supported and famous club in Nigeria. The poll of 12, 772 fans conducted for Ascology 360 Media was aided by proven records from International media agencies and social network sites as well as registrations and feedbacks from Sporting Websites around the world. The survey targeted football fans at match-day hang-outs and football gatherings of which a mammoth 20% of the fans responded to be Manchester United fans, English rival Chelsea are 2nd with 16% fans while 14% of the fans support Arsenal and Barcelona coming 4th with 10% as fans. Manchester United chief executive David Gill revealed in 2008 that the club has more than 14million fans in Nigeria (making it its 4th largest fan base), a record which has greatly increased owing club’s consistent record of successes since then and also being the first top English club to play on Nigerian soil. The Poll however revealed that Liverpool FC has the most loyal of supporters with a larger 87% of the respondents (who supports Liverpool) interviewed having supported the club since they last won the English Premier League title in 1990 followed by Arsenal with 62% of the respondents having supported the club before the signing of Nigerian international Kanu Nwakwo in 1999 and still supporting the club despite not winning a major trophy since 2005. Barcelona has the least loyal supporters (most newcomers to say) with only 12% of its Nigerian fans having supported the club before 2003 followed by Chelsea with just 18% of its respondent fans having supported the club before Roman Abrahamovic took over in the same year. PHOTO: Manchester United have recorded an amazing and yet consistent run of successes since the formation of the English Premier League in 1992. Manchester United, Liverpool, Barcelona and Real Madrid also proved as teams with the most unbiased fans as a massive % of fans likened nationality to reasons they support European football clubs with Chelsea, Arsenal having a huge wide gap of African nationalities compared to Manchester United who incidentally are yet to field a Nigerian player at senior level in its entire history. Using available data from various Online Magazines (majorly Forbes, SPORT+MARKT, Online Index Rankings) coupled with Social Media network fan base, Manchester United is also the world’s most famous club (also most valuable according to Forbest 2011) with Barcelona coming a close second, Real Madrid are third, Arsenal fourth with Chelsea and AC Milan fifth and sixth respectively. Details from Social Networking sites also supported this effect with a global fan base of 22m of Manchester United faithful on Facebook, Chelsea trail behind by an enormous wide margin of just 8.4m fans, Arsenal are 8.7m and Liverpool follows with a close 8m fan base. Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona are 24m and 26m respectively, an achievement which football experts are quick to point to the fact of ‘Two Contestants Only’ in the Spanish La Liga. Also, using web index rankings and analytics of the various clubs official websites, Liverpool FC (Liverpoolfc.tv) ranks first with a global traffic rank of 2757, Manchester United (Manutd.com) ranks second with a global traffic rank of 3004, Arsenal (Arsenal.com) third with 3262, Barcelona (Fcbarcelona.com) fourth with 4,631 and Real Madrid (Realmadrid.com) fifth with 6,010. PHOTO: Spanish giants Barcelona & Real Madrid are the envy of other Spanish clubs with both being taunted as the 'Only 2' clubs in Spain by the foreign media. MOST SUPPORTED CLUB IN NIGERIA: Manchester United - 20% Chelsea FC - 16% Arsenal - 14% Barcelona - 10% Real Madrid - 9% Liverpool - 8% Others - 23% MOST SUPPORTED CLUB IN THE WORLD: Manchester United Barcelona Real Madrid Arsenal Chelsea AC Milan Liverpool Inter Milan Juventus Bayern Munich Link - http://ascology.com/news/green360/facts/21719-Man-United-most-supported-football-club-Nigeria-the-World.html Do you agree? |

I think Man utd and Arsenal have the most loyal supporters. Most chelsea fans started following the club after Mourinho's first year though they are very loyal too. One cannot effectively determine who has the highest number of fans. All three-Chelsea,Arsenal and Man utd are much supported in Nigeria. I am Man utd fan though! |
