Please, I hope this rate is not secondary market oooo? Cos I am still confused as to how they came about that figure for upfront interest.... Someone please enlighten me... 1 Like |
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by NL1960: 8:31am On Feb 07 |
koreanlord: Interest(I) = (Principal(P) * Rate(R) * Tenor(T) ) / (Day in Year(Y) * 100) I = (P * R * T) / (Y * 100) I = (20,000,000 * 18.8 * 364) / 36500 I = 136,864,000,000 /36,500 I = 3,749,698.63 Were charges removed from the upfront interest. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by NL1960: 9:10am On Feb 07 |
koreanlord: Check your account transaction history. Some banks net if off from the upfront interest while some banks post the upfront interest and charges separately. |
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by koreanlord: 9:27am On Feb 07 |
NL1960:Thanks a lot... I checked now They posted only 3,723,111.38... 2 Likes |

koreanlord: Meaning they must have netted off the charges. Ordinarilly, the certificate should have shown Principal, Upfront Interest, Charges and Net if it is being netted off. You can send them an email or call them to give you the breakdown of the amount. |

where is the usual 10% witholding tax?? Meaning they must have netted off the charges. Ordinarilly, the certificate should have shown Principal, Upfront Interest, Charges and Net if it is being netted off. You can send them an email or call them to give you the breakdown of the amount. [/quote] |

Rate is dropping fast like kilode and inflation is still at 34.8%. What kind of voodoo economies is this? If there's over subscription of the 364 tenor while not take your planned allotments instead of shortchanging investors. Honestly the rat race of missing the cut-off 4 consecutive times is very unsettling. Abi since the other tenor are consistent make we lower our expectations. Bcoz surely these 3trillion excesses will definitely find a home sooner than later. 1 Like |

Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by vazsily(m): 3:40am On Feb 09 |
Odunharry: Hmmmmm! But at 18.8% investing in Treasury Bill is a bad idea, when inflation is 34.8%. Except perhaps you don't have any need for the cash but I believe investment in the NGX will give far better returns than this oversense by CBN bcoz of excess supply. 2 Likes |
