Hmmmmm! But at 18.8% investing in Treasury Bill is a bad idea, when inflation is 34.8%. Except perhaps you don't have any need for the cash but I believe investment in the NGX will give far better returns than this oversense by CBN bcoz of excess supply.

Inflation is the rate of change in prices from one year to another. The government is proposing inflation rate of 15% which will make 20% even more juicy.

Let's say they manage to achieve 25%, it's still around the yield you get from treasury bills.

If your argument is that inflation will continue at 34% within the next one year, then that makes Tbills less desirable. Unfortunately, there are hardly any better options for risk averse investors especially for those with huge funds.

Please, I hope this rate is not secondary market oooo? Cos I am still confused as to how they came about that figure for upfront interest....

The rate is low compared with what is obtainable on I-invest and Piggyvest.
