CR pple shuldnt allow this, cos i knw if they do they will regret it in time to come, i wonder why they shuld bring dem south instead of takin them to the North, a place where they share similar culture and beliefs, thought wuld hav being the best idea.

It is quite shameful that the youths, like ekt_bear, noiseless, torkaka, and others who should be demanding to know why their government is mishandling this humanitarian and refugee crisis, have instead allowed tribalism, bigotry, and hatred for any mention of Fulani, turn them into a potentially useless generation, worse than their forefathers.

You all should be fighting for the rights of ALL Nigerians, you will be the next victims soon enough.

torkaka: according to the official cross rivers state website these fulani fled their settlement in takum taraba state due to conflicts btw fulani and tiv for katsina ala in benue state before being moved to cross rivers.
my curious question is this; if the fulani are fleeing because of the fulani/tiv conflict how come they fled to benue the heart of tivland? and why are they fleeing southwards? i thought they'll be better off fleeing northward.
I strongly support u̶̲̥̅̊.D̶̲̥̅̊ε̲̣̣̣̥γ̲̣̣̥ should ß moved northward

ndu_chucks: Some of you people are heartless, wicked, and outright dumb. Are these Fulanis not Nigerians who have an inalienable right to live in any part of Nigeria?
you are a malu for making such a statement! Who told you fulanies are Nigerians? For you info fulani tribe are strangers and settlers in nigeria, they dominate with force wherever they go. Uthman dan fodio was a fulani man and he led the jihad in hausa land (Northern Nigeria) he was a stranger who was allowed to settle in hausaland but him and his fellow fulanis saw themselves as superiors to the native hausas who were farmers because they (fulani) were more educated and richer and also practice Islam unlike the hausas of then who were idol worshipers. The fulanis brought Islam into the North during the trans saharan slave trade era, as few as they were they won over the natives by a huge margin! (1)the fulanis were told to fight to death! If they die fighting Aljanah awaits them with virgins!(2) if they survive they will be allocated lands to govern and oversee! So the fulanis fought knowing that dead or alive they'll gain. Unlike the natives whose only motivation to fight was just to keep their land. Fulani is trouble wherever they go! Boko haram is fulani they believe Uthman dan fodio has conquered Nigeria for them and so its their birth right to rule Nigeria! They don't want to know otherwise! Look at Jos their problem is the fulanis! Wherever they go they claim the land in the name of uthman dan fodio! Just like the Britain's claimed lands and territories in the name of the queen just by placing a flag on the land! The fulanis do same by their cattles once their cattles have grazed its no going back!!! Why am pained by this your comment is that you are igbo! Haven't you seen or heard what dis marauders have done to our people? And you want them to be accommodated! Let them go to their north and stay if they don't have any ulterior motive is there no grass in the north? They are already sending out mercenaries and we are here bickering! South WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

mr.man i have no regrets questioning the rationale of fulani fleeing from tivs and ending up in tivland enroute cross rivers. do you run from the stream to jump into the ocean? if igbos are fleeing from yorubas in lagos and end up in ekiti i will quetsion that too! didn't the sss advert say we should monitor and report suspicious movement? isn't that movement suspicious?that story would have made more sense if tivs fled taraba for benue enroute cross rivers and if fulani fled taraba for adamawa enroute borno! 4000 refugees from the tiv/fulani fight that didn't make news headlines? i can't be fooled!

Even if these fulanis are ordinary herds men, they are known for trouble everywhere they reside. They use animals to destroy ur farmlands and fight u if u dare complain. See what they did to tiv people and ogun in recent times, killing them in their homes. The military men will always defend them every time and deal with u in ur land if u try touch them. They are always armed and would quickly use their weapons on human instead of animals. Time will come wen cross River people would be sleeping at night with one eye open if they welcome these barbaric people. Who is saying are they not nigerias free to live anywhere? They are not! Becos they kill humans, they are rather animals. They should de camp them at game reserves in the north.

You continue to validate my point that you will become a member of a generation worse than that of your forebearers with posts like this. These Fulani s are Nigerians and the Nigerian government should protect them from the kind of violence that is responsible for their demise. The government should also assist them with urgent medical needs before this refugee situation turns into a humanitarian disaster. How can a government sit comfortably in Aso rock and watch its citizens become refugees without taking comprehensive steps address the situation? This is a national disgrace!!

C’River to ‘repatriate’ Fulani herdsmen

March 29, 2012 by Mudiaga Affe 124 Comments

Cross River State Governor Liyel Imoke says the state government will send back over 3,000 internally displaced Fulani herdsmen camping at Bagga, Besenge and Utanga communities in Obanliku Local Government Area of the state after completing arrangements with their respective state governments.

Imoke, who stated this late Tuesday when he visited the internally displaced persons, urged the host communities to accommodate other Nigerians who are in need, “especially those seeking refuge due to unforeseen circumstances”.

The internally displaced persons, who have taken refuge in the northern part of the state, are believed to be among those who fled Benue in the wake of the clash between Fulani herdsmen and Tiv groups recently, leading to the loss of many lives and property.

While describing the plight of the ‘refugees’ as “unfortunate”, Imoke said the government would discuss the modalities to transport them back home with Benue and Taraba states.

He said the State Emergency Management Agency had been directed to attend to the displaced persons by making available for them some relief materials.

The governor said government would ensure that tents were also made available for them.

He gave the assurance that a detachment of policemen would be deployed there to ensure safety of lives and property.

A spokesman for the displaced persons, who spoke through an interpreter Alhaji Yusuf Usman, said they fled their homeland in Takum, Taraba State because of inter-tribal war between the Fulani and the Tiv.

He said they initially moved to Katsina Ala in Benue State from where they fled to Obanliku after threats to their lives.

Abdullahi appealed t0 the state government to help them go back to their home state, saying they would be accepted by their people.

He applauded the state government for supplying foodstuffs, mattresses, mats and blankets.

Stop trying to deceive gullible people here. It is impossible to deport or repatriate a Nigerian citizen from one state to the other - states are not nations.

Don't attempt to unfairly demonize the Cross River State Governor Liyel Imoke, who says the state government will send back the displaced Fulani herdsmen to their homes after completing arrangements with their respective state governments.

Imoke, urged the host communities to accommodate other Nigerians who are in need, “especially those seeking refuge due to unforeseen circumstances”.

Imoke's actions are compassionate and reasonable. It is in no way, the cruelty and wickedness you are attempting to portray here.

The bolded is what should worry you and every Nigerian. The refugee crisis is very real but it does not get the needed coverage because exotic news such as BH, MEND, and other such activities sell more newspapers and TV ads. Unfortunately, your self hatred, tribalism, and bigotry will not let you be as objective as you could be. Egbe ndi Israeli piafuka gi..........no try me o.

this is the problem with our bias media outlet. see how they have managed to sensationalize refugees fleeing violence. and the uninformed nigerians are cought up in this media conspiracy.
when the farmers attack the fulanis in their 'ruga' mobile homes in the bush and kill women and children and cattles, you dont see channels tv, punch, vanguard or odili nets reporting those crimes against the fulanis. and since no one reports it the government dont do anything to redress these injustices. But when the fulanis retaliate on the farmers settlement, alas, you see channels tv, punch, vanguard and others sensationalizing the story. and the gullible minority dont help matters by investigating what the true causes of the violence is. thats why the cycle of violence continues, neither the government or the society is willing to invest in a solution. and the media seems to be bent on fueling this cycle

@ekt bear
Are the Fulani the only people on earth from whom cows can be purchased?

Even if they don't want to sell, is there not chicken one can buy?

Lmao

Having the money to buy meat is what is essential, not the guy selling the meat.

Everybody knows the problems except some daft people on Nairaland. Nigeria (as usual) is not listed among the countries with substantial cattle production. But the Fulani's are trying despite all the odds to at least supply the country's needs in this respect. Most countries of the world would normally try to improve on this by provind the legal framework for grazing reserves. This is not about having money to buy foreign meat as you implied above. The US is one of the largest cattle producing countries in the world , it doesn't mean they have no money to buy meat.Diverse economy is what is needed by every country in this wolrd. If the government is serious they would not allow the fulanis to just be driving thier cattle any how with no legal framework and with no grazing reserves. These exist in US and other serious countries and meat and dairy production for local consumption and even export cannot be beyond Nigeria if we had any serious leadership. Peak milk from holland is what every home uses on a daily basis in Nigeria but ekt bear would see nothing wrong with that because him and oth4er fulani bashers have the money. its such a pity and a shamer!

ndu_chucks do u live in Nigeria? I doubt that u do. You have a rather idealistic view to issues. Torkaka and ektbear are making a good point and are by no means wicked. If you are fleeing a certain tribe it doesnt make logical sense to flee to another state dominated by that tribe. There is something not right with that and considering the sly nature of BH we cant just turn a blind eye. We are not saying the refugees shld be killed we are saying they shld be accomodated and given aid up north and that arrangement wld be better for every1. C/riverians can have peace of mind and the refugees would be amonsgt their own pple who share their beliefs and values. That way every1 is hapi.

As for me i am not even comfortable wit my Governors repsonse. Which one is they will be sent back after concluding arrangements with their state govts? Please send them back IMMEDIATELY! this attempt to link BH fulani refugees is not only annoying but outright carlous.

This BH guys are waging guerilla warfare against the govt, a hit and run strategy, stealth and meticulous. i doubt if some 4000 cattle rearing heads men is a penetration strategy given their antecedent (take abuja or suleja as a case)

this guys are refugees from states not particularly known for BH operations how do u conclude they are some how related

also when you are fleeing violence i doubt if direction is the first thing on your mind. what should be on your mind is safety, whereever, you can then start to plan home going strategies when you are safe.

common lets be realistic

Okay, im gonna answer your questions. No im not suggesting that they wld be attecked by the C/riverians (our people are notorious for their hospitality), i am suggesting that the refugees may cause trouble. Im sure the middle belt and northern states can tesify to their troublesome nature. I would not condone any attack on any tribe cos we are all humans.
