FBS: On Lukaku - no qualms the boy went out on loan. He demanded for it and he got it. He's got talent but so far I see him play only for 45mins minutes and then gone. I expect bigger things in the future from him.

On JM - oh yeah he talks too much sometimes, but I feel that he tries to be honest. I personally will and want to give him time. They are currently amongst the top 8 in FIFA rankings. The October 17 rankings will determine the top seeds for the world cup; and I don't see them dropping out of the top 8 after their win today.

I know, right. It was a controversial decision by FIFA to base the seedings solely on their rankings. The funny thing is that England, who have been to the last 4 world cups, would likely not be seeded.

Oh yes. However, FIFA said that they would also factor in "geographical and sporting conditions" when pairing the other teams outside the top 8. So the draw could be 'manipulated' to set both teams apart.

Here's another interesting fact: The teams that finish second in groups A thru H in European qualifying will have their results against the bottom-placed teams disregarded, when FIFA is deciding the best 8 runners-up to go into the play-off.

I'm yet to see the algorithm used in this ranking. How can a team that has not been to the world cup or done anything of note for the past 5 years be seeded?

Portugal are ranked 11th, it is also unlikely that they would overtake Uruguay (7th). Uruguay have 1126 points, while Portugal have 1029 point.
So Portugal may not be seeded

I'm a bit surprised too. Portugal played 5 games at Euro 2012, a tournament Belgium failed to qualify for. Also recall that Portugal beat the likes of the Netherlands, Czech Rep and Denmark in that tournament too.
