It's a well known fact that we are Germany's bogey team. However that does not take away from the fact we are currently a level beneath the Germans. That could change come 2014 as the Azzuris tend to do better in tournaments than during qualifications(proven major tournaments team).

Yeah, the Italians always rise to the occasion in major tourneys (except Euro 2008 and WC 2010). Prandelli's 3-5-2 formation can both be fluid and compact at the same time.

That's a different German team though. Not a lot was expected of that lot and a semi final berth was an achievement on it's own(bastian was even playing as a right midfielder then). This however is the new German team. Young but quite experienced. Providing they don't mess up their group and finish second (meaning they'll have to face the Brazil and Spain's of this world earlier than expected), a semi final place is sure.

If you are referring to full backs, that maybe debatable. But if you are looking at all defenders, then Campbell, Ferdinand, Bobby Moore are all better than Lahm.
