I'm not taking the credits away from Barça but the game was lost the moment Klopp opted for a change in tactical setup to counterbalance Barça's hold on midfield play by dropping Firmino, Firmino by default is a press resistant player and his off-ball movement and spatial awareness would have proved useful in creating clearcut chances for the likes of Mané and Salah. I would have expected Klopp to sub him on immediately as Keita replacement when the latter suffered an injury. If you look closely you will notice throughout the large spell of the game that Mané and Salah were wide apart with little or no linkup play and rely mainly on scraps and highballs to run into.
Having said the above, let me briefly discuss Liverpool's backline; using Joe Gomez is understandable because he's better defensively in the RFB position than TAA but TAA is better attacking wise. Matip is underrated as well as Robertson they played their hearts out and deserv more accolades. VVD is good but failed to live up to expectations last night he's too laidback thus costing his team in crucial moments.

Looking at VVD stats compared to his partners in Liverpool defense, VVD has the least tackle attempted and tackle won but surprisingly he has like triple their clearance.
