PeeDaVinci: This is the thing. This might seem like a good idea to stem the outward flow of looted funds but it will not take off in a Nation where there is an established system that must be seen to protect the rights of everyone. The argument , if proof cannot be supplied that looted wealth is used directly to fund expensive education, would be that innocent children are being victimised and denied the rights to the best education possible. |

PeeDaVinci: how will you punish a child for the sins of the parents? as nice as this may sound, it is not right, it is both morally and legally unjustifiable. they should look for better means of punishing the corrupt politiciansThis your comment is meaningless!!Read the article again |

Sure they must be on jokes on this. That's the last thing they will do cos it amounts to abuse of rights as long as these kids cannot be tied to any criminal/financial offence. It's high time we start looking inwards to solve our problems rather than relying on the british govt. Whatever happened to the judge that "quashed" the "cases" brought against Ibori here in Nigeria? Let these kids enjoy their life ooo |
Re: Britain May Bar Corrupt Politicians’ Children From British Schools by Fhemmmy: 1:32pm On May 10, 2012 |
Ha ha ha ha . . Let them start by returning all the loot from Nigeria by Nigerians in England to Nigeria and then, i will know they mean business. If they bar those kids, they will go bankrupt . . . so na bluff. |

This is the most stupid thing I have heard. First how do you define a corrupt person. A person can only be defined as corrupt only by a competent court and not the government. Secondly an adult siblings of a confirmed corrupt person cannot be punished for the sins of his father, unless he or she is proven to be part of the corruption. Third and most importantly, most political elites in Nigeria have double citizenship, both nigerian and US or UK citizenship, and most of their children is either living legally in UK or is married to a UK citizen, so how do you deal with them. The proposal would not pass through judicial scrutiny. If the British government is really serious about helping Nigeria curb corruption, they should reform their banking system to scrutinized cash transfers originating from Nigeria to ensure it is not stolen funds. because the stolen funds have to pass through British banks. |

The British government will be killing a huge source of revenue if this is implemented. Which means the rule will be extended to all the corrupt politicians from other countries who send their children to study in UK. I think it will be a difficult policy to implement, as it will discriminate against genuine people. |
Re: Britain May Bar Corrupt Politicians’ Children From British Schools by analyticalman: 2:36pm On May 10, 2012 |
the best thing is to ban the children of politicians from travelling overseas for studies because as much as i know, they are being sponsored with tax money and stolen wealth.i believe strongly that one day, revolution will catch up with them, and there will be no escape routes. |

Shouldn't the British govt first ban the children of those colonial officers who looted Nigeria for 100 years on behalf of 'her majesty's' govt', leaving Nigeria with not a single university at independence, no infrastructure, mass poverty and malnutrition, no electricity, and a literacy rate of 8%? What happened to all THAT money from Nigerian exports - tin, cocoa, groundnut, iron ore, rubber, palm oil, which must run into trillions of dollars in total (in today's currency) from 1897 to 1960? |

Mahatma Ghandi: It is a good thing that the british government is doing, but we in nigeria can do much more, the number of unemployed youths in nigeria far out numbers napoleon's army,if they all take to the streets and decide not to leave till corrupt politicians and government officials are brought to book, believe you me change will come faster than expected, My brother you get am right; our fear fear too much (suffering and smiling). It will only take 10,000 youth to occupy a certain location and change would come. The world would be watching. Corruption must go, bad governance must go, immunity clause must go. Our government must take us seriously |
