mohumyta: The back of this book was my GOOGLE search for cheating on those multiplication table.First work in the class after assembly is to recite 1 x 1= 1 grin grin
This is how we recite it :-
Two TANS one - Two
Two TANS two - Four
Two TANS "Sebin" - Fourteen
Two TANS "Elebin" - twenty - two
and you get to be caned if you fail to recite nos one to twelve multiplication. Then we'll make fun of those who can't recite properly. But come to think of it, can our children nowadays recite this thing the way we do then? I wonder.

Oh my, oh my. Those good old times - Do I loooooooove 'em.

Scarpon: hell yes we talking about 90's and early 2000
90's? Well it was in the early 80's thru early 90's. Can't really say if this book was available by the 00's. I think books like "standard exercise book" were beginning to replace the "Olympic exercise book" by then.

clemmonce: did people actually use slate to write in those days ?
Yeah, with chalk. Boy when were you born?!
It was the easiest way to teach kiddergaten and nursery the rudiments without wasting so much books. If they make mistake, just clean with a duster. We would always leave them back at school when going home and get it distributed to us every school morning for the days work. <crying> oh those sweet old times.

You are definitely right on the eleganza and ogbanje jist.
The eleganza biro used to 'float'(who knows what this means) I also remember then that we would put the ink of the eleganza pen in a bowl(pool) of water and then claim to see something inside the bowl(who remembers this)

Period when we would squeeze the peel of tangarine on our wrist and then start stroking the point with our pen and then singing in the process
.
.
.
.
.Old papa bear bear
grow oh grow oh
Old papa bear grow

Before you say Jack, foam like structure would be on our wrist.

The period when we love to sing
Lekeleke give me one finger, I go give you back...

The period when if we see two fowls fighting we would cross our fingers so that the fight would not stop

The period when we used to challenge ourselves with asala and guinea fowl egg(we called it chickiriyon) to see whose is stronger.
