Why do some people want to have it their way every time. I am against divorce, but growing up in a family where you are taught to respect people, irrespective of gender, class, or title, I find it hard to cause my fellow human being unnecessary stress.

Those who believe till-death -do- you-part of the vow, will actually be happy to receive the corpse of their daughter, sister, or female relations from a wicked & heartless husband all in the name of keeping a vow.

THE LAW WAS MADE FOR MAN, NOT MAN FOR THE LAW.

That you have a successful marriage does not make you judge over those who are less fortunate.

This is what I hate about NL. Someone will come out of no where with no other intention but to derail/spoil a beautiful thread. It is not as if the person has a better opinion.
My aunt was married for twenty years or more, but it didn't stop her husband from bringing in another woman who eventually caused so much trouble in an otherwise peaceful home and forced my aunt out of her matrimonial home.
A year or two later the man has to chase the woman out of his house and after about three years or more, the man died without a woman in his home.

so someone having two decades of marriage does not make him an expert in marriage councelling.

Goodmorning people,
Am a bit surprised that after going through this thread, just a handful of people have joined our fanpage on Facebook.
This thread was borne out of the desire to create and educate people about the nature of SCD. The message is simple;
Who is a Sickler?
How am I suppose to relate with people who suffers from SCD?
Are they normal people like everyone else?
If I have them as child(ren), siblings/relations, Friends/ foe, colleagues in the office, classmates etc, do I have to see or think of them as people who do not have long to stay in this world?
Can I marry them or encourage someone I know to marry a SS, so far as they love each other?
Do they deserve to pitied rather than Loved?

These are the messages imbeded in this thread. It goes further to make a clarion call to sicklers where ever they may be, to come out and let the world know that SCD does not limit nor define who they are.

It is a choice one can make..... you either keep being comfortable in your ignorance about SCD or you identify with people living with SCD.

As for a SS person that is shy of stigma, I tell you this.... " You did not choose to be born with SCD, so why do you have to live in Denial rather than face facts and join your voices to discourage those intending Love Birds (AS/AS)who wants to gamble with the Genetic Make Up of their future kids

lacum: my broda ur wrong. Firstly, priestly celibacy is not a doctrine its just a dicsiplinary measure. Secondly, i am a seminarian and i must say dat all d oda tins u said above are correct but to say dat 1st born cannot b a priest is wrong. What d church needs is ur consent and d consent of ur guardians but ur consent supercedes dats if u insist even when ur threatened by ur parents. Tks

Ok sir. But I have never come across an Only Son as a priest.
Let me ask you.... As a seminarian, have you come across An Only Son as a Rev. Fr.?
Family / Re: Would You Support Your Son If He Decides To Become A Priest. by Abali1(m): 2:04pm On Nov 19, 2012
ok. I withdraw my initial assertion. But I thought as the Catholic does not accept a deformed or impotent man, so also they will not accept an only son. Moreover, all my years as a Catholic and a product of a Catholic missionary school, I have not come across an Only son as a Priest.

Abeg those that say it's a big lie should please provide me with just one name.
Please don't confuse a man that has half-brother(s) with an only son of the parents. A sole heir.

Also, parental consent is very necessary before the church ordains you. It is akin to parental consent during marriage. The catholic will not wed you if your parents (especially the girl's parents) does not consent.

Beline:
Catholic Church, I'm a Catholic and have known so many who could not become a priest just because they are their parents only son.

Catholic Church has certain rigid doctrines. For instance, a deformed person cannot be a priest/nun; An impotent man cannot be a priest.
Also, an only son cannot be a priest. The church accepts only those who by their own free will and their parents consent, to come and serve God.
An only son cannot be a priest. You can go and ask.

I support the post am quoting

I am an only son, when my parents starts bothering about this marry and have a child issue, because of the family name.... I always ask them, what if God decided to call me home before marriage what will you people do?

If your only son decides to serve God, let him be. God who knows all things, will equally satisfy your heart desires. He gave the boy to you, if He decides to call him to serve Him. Then He must have planned something better for you.
Business / Re: Entrepreneurs What Has Kept You Going? by Abali1(m): 11:51pm On Nov 18, 2012
I didn't really elaborate in my intial post. But I will do so now. I have always known that I want to be a business owner (mind a business owner is different from a self-employed).
My taste for risk is a little bit high. I started by investing 200k in my friends company, with a 10% returns every month. That was just when I finished school. This arrangement worked until I was through with my Service year, before the company had a major problem.
After recovering from that incident I did a bit of research and invested heavily in the ill-fated Nigerian stock market. Around the same time I also invested in one of these wonder banks that just duped me of my money.
Right now am in the transport sector and paying close attention to the business.
As a business minded person, you don't need to give up when you meet with temporary defeat.

Warrior
A person who beyond all obstacles still manages to be successful.
A warrior will often be troubled in life, but will persevere in the end. Socially, a Warrior will often be down to earth, functioning entirely off of what they perceive as logic. While this can lead to arrogance and stubbornness, a Warrior has a soft center, and can be befriended with ease by anyone knowing how to reach it.
Often intelligent, strong, determined, and skillful, a Warrior, despite whatever problems they may have, is perfect.
In their own way, each Warrior is perfect.

The Challenges of Sickle Cell Disease makes us the more determined to succeed.

“Many, many men have been just as troubled morally and spiritually as you are right now. Happily, some of them kept records of their troubles. You'll learn from them—if you want to. Just as someday, if you have something to offer, someone will learn something from you. It's a beautiful reciprocal arrangement. And it isn't education. It's history. It's poetry.”

Romance / Re: How Do You Breakup With Some1 You Love Cos You-both Are AS Genotypes? by Abali1(m): 7:29am On Nov 14, 2012
My dear, relationship break-up can be very difficult sometimes, especially when your partner is all you will ever wish in a wo/man. But, in this case you have to let go.
Have you guys ever thought of the trauma you will be bringing upon an innocent child (assuming you go ahead with marrying your partner and God-forbid-it, produce an SS)

Sometimes, Love is just not enough reason to risk the future of your kids.
