Mindset to Get Started in the Digital World:

So, you’re thinking about getting into the digital world to secure your financial future?

That’s amazing!

But before you get in, let's talk about the right mindset you'll need to succeed.

You see, these are some key points to keep in mind:

1. Embrace a Growth Mindset

- Learn and Adapt:
The digital space is always changing. Be open to learning new things and adapting to new technologies and trends.

- Overcome Challenges: Don’t see obstacles as failures. See them as opportunities to learn and grow.

2. Be Self-Motivated
- Set Goals: Clearly define what you want to achieve. This could be learning a new skill, starting a side hustle, or launching a full-blown online business.

- Stay Focused: There will be distractions, but staying focused on your goals is key. Create a plan and stick to it.

3. Be Resilient
- Expect Setbacks: Not everything will go as planned. Be ready to face setbacks and learn from them.

- Stay Positive: Learn to keep a positive attitude, even when things get tough. Your attitude will get you through difficult times.

4. Invest in Yourself
- Continuous Learning: Invest time (and sometimes money) in courses, tutorials, and other learning resources. Knowledge is your most valuable asset.

- Skill Development: Focus on building skills that are in demand. Whether it’s coding, digital marketing, graphic design, or another digital skill, make sure you’re always improving.

5. Be Patient
- Long-Term Vision: Success doesn’t happen overnight. Be patient and keep working towards your long-term goals.

- Small Wins: Celebrate small victories along the way. They’ll keep you motivated and moving forward.

6. Network and Collaborate
- Connect with Others: Join online communities, forums, and groups related to your field. Networking can open up opportunities and provide support.

- Collaborate: Don’t be afraid to work with others. Collaborations can lead to new ideas and faster growth.

7. Take Action
- Start Small: You don’t need everything figured out to start. Take small steps towards your goals every day.

- Be Proactive: Don’t wait for opportunities to come to you. Go out and create your own opportunities.

8. Manage Your Time
- Prioritize Tasks: Focus on what’s important and urgent. Use tools like to-do lists, planners, or digital apps to keep track of your tasks.

- Avoid Procrastination: It’s easy to get distracted, especially online. Stay disciplined and manage your time effectively.

9. Financial Discipline
- Budgeting: Keep track of your income and expenses. Save a portion of your earnings for future investments.

- Smart Investments: Invest in tools and resources that will help you grow your digital skills or business. Avoid unnecessary spending.

10. Stay Healthy
- Physical Health: Take care of your body. Regular exercise, a good diet, and enough sleep are crucial for maintaining energy and focus.

- Mental Health: Manage stress and avoid burnout. Take breaks when needed and find time for activities you enjoy.

Getting started in the digital world requires more than just skills—it requires the right mindset.

Let’s talk about what’s really going on in Nigeria right now and how we can actually do something about it.

You see the Struggle is Real

We all know how tough things are.

You can have a degree and still find it hard to get a job.

Why?

Here’s why:
- No Jobs: There aren’t enough jobs for everyone.

- Crazy Competition: The few jobs that are out there have so many people fighting for them.

- Wrong Skills: Sometimes, what we learned in school isn’t what employers need.

With no jobs available, the way out is being self employed.

Why Being Self-Employed Isn’t Easy

A lot of people say, “Just start your own business.”

But that’s not as easy as it sounds. Here’s why:

- Startup Costs: You need money to rent a place, buy supplies, and maybe even pay staff.

- Running Costs: Keeping the business going also costs a lot like paying for utilities e.g Electricity, water, gas, internet, and phone services.

- Time and Effort: Starting and running a business takes a lot of time and effort.

Things have gotten worse with the removal of fuel subsidies and the naira losing value against the dollar.

Everything is so expensive now:

- Garri: Used to be ₦18,000, now it’s ₦37,500.

- Rice: From ₦8,000 to ₦80,000.

- Fuel: From ₦205 to ₦750 per liter.

All this took a turn for the worse in just under a year.

This makes life really hard for everyone. We’re all feeling it:

- Higher Costs: Everything is more expensive, from food to transport.

- Unemployment: Many people are jobless.

- Lower Quality of Life: It’s harder to live well when everything costs more.

-Sickness and death: I know guys who have sadly left this world due to sickness and high blood pressure.

These are issues that abundance of money could help avoid.

Moreover, The Manufacturing Association of Nigeria (MAN) has reported a concerning trend within the industry, revealing that about 767 manufacturing companies shut down operations while 335 experienced distress in 2023.

This is just 2023 alone.

More companies are already following suit this 2024.

Not to mention some distressed banks......

Things have taken a turn for the worst....

However, here’s the good news.

Do you know that learning a digital skill can change your life?

No capping.

Here’s why:
1. Easy to Learn:
- At Your Own Pace: You can learn online, anytime you want. It better than going to learn a trade or skill.

- Affordable: It’s cheaper than going to school or starting a traditional business.

2. Lower Startup Costs:
- No Rent: You don’t need to rent an office or a store.

- Minimal Supplies: Just a computer and internet connection like get you started.

- Cheap Marketing: Online marketing is way cheaper and more effective.

3. Scalable:
- Global Market: You can sell to anyone, anywhere in the world.

- Automation: Many tasks can be automated, so you don’t have to do everything manually.

4. High Demand:
- Job Opportunities: There’s a huge demand for digital skills globally.

- Freelancing: Sites like Upwork and Fiverr let you work from home and get paid.

5. Growth and Independence:
- Keep Learning: The digital world is always changing, so there’s always something new to learn.

- Be Your Own Boss: With the right skills, you can be financially independent.

6. Earning in foreign currency. With these digital skills at your disposal, you can earn in dollars.

We all know how the dollar to the naira is....

Just $200 could mean ₦294,244.00. That's almost ₦300,000.00

Given our current economic struggles, making money online is a great option:

Here's why

- Multiple Income Streams: Freelancing, affiliate marketing, online courses – there are so many ways to earn.

- Economic Independence: You don’t have to rely on the unstable local economy.

- Personal Growth: The digital world offers endless opportunities for personal and professional growth.

Sure, things are tough right now, but it’s the best time to adapt and learn new skills.

By picking up digital skills, we can get through these hard times and build a better future for ourselves.
