I did it at Ibadan,Oyo state but how come the lady got her passport 2 weeks after because am wondering

As regards the lady, i wouldn't know but she did through the guys am using as well.

Perhaps the booklet unavailability issue has not come up when she did hers.

I wish i could be that lucky as well.

My collection date on the print out receipt was 18th of November but till now the 18th had never come which is so annoying

@sikay19, that's not funny at all. Its almost 2 month. Its sad sha.

Mine is scheduled for 19th December. I really need to be on fasting and prayer.

I guess you didn't do yours at Ikoyi because I met a lady that did on Nov 16 and collected Nov 28 at Ikoyi.

Its quite unfortunate. Some embassies I learnt are closing for the year soon and its going to affect some peoples plan.

Incidentally, they are even planning to increase the passport fee again without addressing the backlog.

Hoping for the best anyway.

Hello fellow Nairalanders, I have processed my International passport since 4 weeks now and i was told to come for it the following weeks because there was shortage of booklet for the passport. But till now am yet to get it. Please what is going on? Any other NL experiencing this?

Did mine at Ikoyi three weeks ago, yet to be available.

Its annoying.

@sikay19, what was your collection date on the print out paper?
Travel / Re: Why A Whole Nigeria Dont Have International Passport Booklet by Akayshittu: 5:55pm On Dec 10, 2016
There is no passport booklet at most issuing centres and is across many states in Ngeria.
Its an unfortunate incident in the last couple of weeks.
At Ikoyi, applicants are even addressed by the immigration officers in the morning (2 weeks ago) that they have challenge with the booklet. So, applicants should exercise some patience.
I learnt booklets are available in Ekiti state but have not confirmed that myself.
Its a sad situation. It shows that our government are not concerned about the citizens. A lot of people plan has been altered and some embassies will be closing up for the year soon.
I hope something urgent is done.
Its annoying.
Educational Services / How Can One Start A Textbook Supply Business by Akayshittu: 6:43am On Nov 13, 2016
Hi all, can anyone give an insight on how to supply textbooks to schools. A friend was discussing it with me. My friend has some other little jobs he does for schools and he is thinking of adding the supply of textbooks to it. It appears to be a lucrative business (to him) but he does not really know how to start.

Personally, i know you might need to get the book from publishers and sell to schools. But my own drawback on the business is that, it seems to be a seasonal thing and capital intensive. I think most schools buy textbooks during first term when school resumes and afterwards, the books might not be needed till end of the year again.

I would appreciate if we can get advice and details of how the business is being run profitably from people who have been doing it.

Business / Re: What Can He Do With 100k And Will Be Generating 5 Hundred naira Daily by Akayshittu: 3:20pm On Jul 28, 2016
Carmal90:

Thanks, the only visible and rewarding for him on d list is game shop....but with what he has 100k cannot do it..
All other businesses is saturated in my area

I want to advice that if truly he is interested in the Game centre business, the 100k can still do something.

I don't run that business myself but my belief is that any business you are interested in, you can start with the little capital with you.

Just start with a version of the business that that amount could float.

There is hardly any rich man that has all the capital at once to start is business. Everybody started small. There are numerous examples. Otedola, Dangote, Mike Ade-ojo (Elizade) all started with what they have.

Don't let your friend hold on to that as an excuse for not starting.

Besides, if he starts big and there is an issue, he will fall big and vice versa.

My guy do you know how many Mr Biggs outlets have packed up? That Eatery business u put up there I may not totally agree with that. Imagine I was in the car with my boss from Igando to Egbeda and we could not get just one eatery to branch and eat. And they used to be much along that express before. We even saw one closed with an inscription '' Currently under efcc investigation''
Don't know whats really wrong with earery business nowadays sha. May the its the competition that's getting too much

I think the problem with the eateries (franchise type like Mr Biggs)are as follows:

- Since it is a franchise, the franchisor dictates the business model eg the decor, supplies the food and the likes. The franchisee only follows the "instruction" as set out by the franchisor leaving no room for creativity.

- Their overheads is too high. The decor and ambient environment requires a huge amount to set up and maintain.

- Most people go there to eat not because they are really hungry but just to "feel among" or maybe they just got this excess cash and you wouldn't mind spending a thousand naira for a meal that might not really fill your belly as you wanted

- There is economic "recession" and less disposable income. Nigerians are just managing themselves. These days, people would rather go to a nice bukka with say 3-5 hundred naira and be satisfied than to go to those expensive eateries.

1st bold
I get you. But i didn't hype the book. What i'm doing here is the proof i gave.

I'll quote myself here.... What i'm doing here - asking you to pay me to share with you a book (i didn't even write) - may seem unusual but it's a business. What i'm offering here is: saving you the stress and time involved in reading one personal improvement or money making book - i've done that already! You're paying me to save your time and point to you the one that would be useful. What i'm doing here is a proof of what the book does. It'll help you float a business with small or no capital from what you least expect you could earn money from."

2nd bold
Thanks for the suggestion. I'll give you a little advice which of course you don't have to take - When you start a business of your own, don't set your price based on what you think people can easily dispose. If your goods/services is worth more than what you think people can easily dispose then why under-value it? Truth is some people will still say it's expensive!

Instead set your price based on the value your goods/services is offering. People who see the value in what you're offering will patronise you and people who don't see the value will stay clear. And that's good cuz if they patronise you, they won't be satisfied.

Apple for instance is quite expensive. Do you know why? The price is based on value! Are people not buying it? They are. You know why? They see it's value and usefulness.

*****
I've used what i'm doing here as proof. I've also shared some excerpt from the book. If you find the excerpt (and the above advice) reasonable then you should read the book - there's a lot more.

Saying that you should review your price does not apply to other business. The advice is more applicable in this case as against a general business rule. Thanks anyway.
However, I still think you just want to make undue money from aspiring business owner.
Like someone asked, what if I have even read the book before, will you do a refund? Besides, you would have been a blessing to quite a number of people if you share it for a token (or even free).
Anybody can come here too and use your style of business too.
Anyway, I wish you goodluck in your new found business concept. Keep it up. Cheers.

If i weren't convinced that reading the book would help you float a business of your own, i'd have priced the info lesser. Doesn't N2,500 seem cheap when compared to the value you'll get from it? I think it does.

** I didn't say you'll find it online free. You may find it online for free or you may have to buy it from Amazon or other online store.

Yes. N2,500 is quite a small money. But in this case, it is still a game of chance. The info in the book at the end of the day might not be as interesting as you've painted it. Or are you saying there is money back guarantee?
We have seen a lot of similar things on this platform. Some are genuine while a lot doesn't deliver as promised.
In all, I think it will be much better to review your price to an amount that is easily disposable so as to get a lot of subscribers. Thks

For N2,500 i'll send the book to you.. For N2,000 i'll tell you the title and author then you can find it online yourself.

Ok. But can you do N1,000 for sending the book. I am thinking since you said I can find it online, I do not think you should charge so much for the info.

Hope you found the excerpt i've shared insightful. Here's more info about the book... The book is intersting and practical. You'll be inspired right from chapter one cuz stories of real life people who have started businesses on their own is used as examples through out the book. At the end of each chapter some key points are highlighted just in case you missed them while reading. The book has 181 pages and it's not authored by a Nigerian.

So how much is the copy? Thank you

So how much does the book cost if you want to share? Can you give a brief of the book in terms of no of pages, is the author a Nigerian etc. Thanks

Car Talk / A Platform To Sell Verified Naija Used Cars by Akayshittu: 7:55pm On Sep 15, 2015
Hello car gurus in the house. I have been thinking if auto mechanic experts on Nairaland (gazzuzz and others) can create a platform or provide a service that will give people mostly middle income earners that does not have deep insight into cars (first time buyers will little capital) the opportunity to buy car from trusted auto mechanics on this platform.

The car expert would have done background check on the car and perhaps fix any fault that can put the car in good shape for intending buyers.
By extension, he could even give say few months of warranty if possible.
I will suggest car price range of N400k to N700k.
Benefits:
1. It makes guys especially the working class to be able to sell their call easily (lot of them find it difficult to sell their car as they are very busy)
2. Intending car buyers are rest assured is coming from an auto mechanic expert
3. A win-win situation for the auto mechanic that sold the car as the buyers will likely bring their cars there for repairs
4. Sanitizes the sale of used naija car especially on Nairaland
5. More revenue for auto mechanics engaged in the business

Having said these, I know there are inherent challenges but I think its worthwhile trying (my thought anyway).

So guys, kindly make comments on this idea.

@sugadey247, Will you recommend interior design training for someone who does not have flair for colours or designs but have passion for installing or implementing those designs by an interior designer?

He prefers to put those furnitures, lightings and other decors in place. Doing the real work.

Besides, do we have interior designs one can recommend for low income earners that is affordable to that class of people?

Anytime someone tells you a car has A/C but needs gas, just know that there is more to it cos it takes less that 4k to fill the gas.

You are right.

Infact, if the gas is refilled, it commands a good market price.
