Romance / I Knew It Was Over When by amebo22: 11:34pm On Oct 02, 2009
let share our experience. Please for this segment your reponse/reply should start with the Subject above( I knew it was over when)

I knew it was over when, One day I was at my ex's apartment watching TV and my ex recieved a call and went downstairs all for him to come back with 2 lugagge and a very attractive lady. He told me that it was a friend of his that just arrived from out of town and she had no where to stay impromtu. Long story short she moved in with him started ofcourse cooking his meals etc.while i get do to the visiting ,all for me to realize they had dated or in his words like her in the past(found out by doing my own digging since he volunteered no other info) needless to say that we broke up amicably but before then I sent her packing and within 24hours that was when they both remembered she had an uncle that lived in that state.

Share your own experience. When did you discover it was over??

Education / Re: Nigerian Educational System. by amebo22: 10:19pm On Jul 10, 2009
I skimmed through the conversation above. And to clear out some points like the Grades system. In Nigeria the Grade point average GPA is 5 out of 5, while in the USA is 4 out of 4 to start with ,thus it makes no sense to compare at all. And I agree that C in nija is like a fail in America.True especially if you care about your GP.

- In Nigeria we tend to go ahead and teach alot of theoretical stuff that in the end you cram what you are supposed to be thought in the Level 300 at High school. In the US on the other hand its both practical and theoretical and at a pace that when you are asked after 5years you will remember. How many of you who have graduated can remem anything that you studied in 100level to be honest.

I totally disagree with some points becos, just the fact that you studied in Nija and you get to the US and the topic is repeated does not make one smarter. I am sure that if you have schooled in the states you would differ your opinion. Imagine A student having to Work, pay bills, fend for your self and still go to school.
While in Nija get pocket money (usually the case most of the time)and all you worry about is passing your grade and cultism. And yet our people are still comparing first world and 3rd world.?hmmmmmmmmmmm

. Nija certificates if finally recognised example in the US you might need to verify your classes with their education system and then Take pr erequites or just saying it plainly redo some of the classes to be sure that you are competent
Romance / Re: Would You Choose A Partner On Religion Or On Love? by amebo22: 11:15pm On Jun 26, 2009
Not just religion self, language, job, features, all this and more would count cos if you plan to live with this person for the rest of you life you just might settle with things you can live with, if God willing we have kids which religion would they follow, today mosque tomorrow church, If I plan on marrying someone with a particular religion its either i follow him or he follows me. We have to settle for one , and not E.g. father ---pentecostal, mother---catholic

Nairaland / General / Girls Worse At Math? No Way, New Analysis Shows by amebo22: 1:03am On Jun 04, 2009

WASHINGTON, June 1, 2009 (Reuters) — Girls can do just as well at math as boys -- even at the genius level -- if they are given the same opportunities and encouragement, researchers reported on Monday.
Their study, published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, contradicts studies showing girls can do as well as boys on average in math -- but cannot excel in the way males can.

They also said it is a clear rebuttal to Larry Summers, who as president of Harvard University said in 2005 that biological differences could explain why fewer women became professors of mathematics. Summers is now chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers for President Barack Obama.

"We conclude that gender inequality, not lack of innate ability or 'intrinsic aptitude', is the primary reason fewer females than males are identified as excelling in mathematics performance in most countries, including the United States," Janet Hyde and Janet Mertz of the University of Wisconsin in Madison wrote in their report.

Am curious to know you say on this article, I found it interesting,

Fashion / Re: Why Do Ladies Go Thru Unnecessary Pains To Look Good With Makeups? by amebo22: 8:27pm On May 27, 2009
the term alone MAKE up, simply says it all, You are making up for wat you dont ve. Some come out good some come out horrible but i think practise makes perfect. If only we know wat works for us , for one I dont and i ve tried several times to work on it, the funny thing is that anytime i have a party or date and i apply make up it comes out horrible but wen i just want to do a trial facial at home , OMG its comes out gorgeous.
from my experience i would say that its the pressure we put on ourselves so that we look and standout and eventually the hideous make up stands out, lol

Travel / Re: Best Places To See In Kano State by amebo22: 2:30am On May 25, 2009
It depends on what your interest are.Kano is the commerce center and I will say that its a fun place to be despite the crises and all that stuff so u need to do you homework before going so u dont get caught in that fight and from my personal experience its not a fun sight. Let me know what exactly you have in mind and I will recommend. Also remem Kano is volatile so you might not be as free as you would be in Lagos or etc,
toyinp:

go to lamido cresent and mangwa rest

wow mangwa is still there, nice , if Tiga dam or bagauda is still open and your are interested in the water fronts etc you will love these places, good luck
