humnsikan:
Why is the media posturing as though Saraki needs Buhari more than Buhari needs him. Truth be told, Buhari needs Saraki more than Saraki needs him. Antagonizing the Senate president could be the bane of Buhari's administration. As it stands, saraki has little to nothing to lose in not having buhari's support, but same cannot be said of Buhari. The headlines should ideally sound this way: SARAKI REFUSES TO SEE BUHARI. My advice to PMB is to go back to talking terms with the senate president, especially now that the window of opportunity is still open and the later is respecting the president's office and humbling himself. A time would come that the senate president would be tired of all these contemptous attitude from the president and APC and would then make both know the kind of power the head of the legislature, a seperate arm of government, wields.

they should continue their useless propaganda. it is rather helping to widen the crack in apc, an impetus for defection.

Politics / Re: Group Condemns Appointment Of Non-Yoruba As NPA Boss. by attoskoly: 3:44pm On May 13, 2015
MayorofLagos:
http://www.m.worldstagegroup.com/readnews.php?&id=22243&active=news

The appointment of non-Yoruba to the position of the Nigerian Ports Authority, (NPA) is an insult to the Yoruba nation, the O’odua Nationalist Coalition, (ONAC) has said. ONAC said the position of the NPA Chairman and the Managing Director should be the preserve of the Yoruba people.

In a statement on Monday, the Pan Yoruba group stated that the Lagos port is the second largest source of revenue for the Federal Government adding that the Lagos port is to the Yoruba people what oil is to the Niger-Delta. If consistently Niger-Delta people have been at the helms of affairs at the NDDC, there is no reason why the NPC should not be consistently led by a Yoruba person.

ONAC stated that recent appointment of Alhaji Sanusi Lamido Ado Bayero  as the NPA Managing Director is absolutely wrong. It negates the principles of fairness. How on earth can you appoint some one who has no stream in his home state as the Managing Director of NPA? The Lagos port is on Yorubaland. In a true federal system, the chairman of the Ports Authority must necessarily be an indigene of Lagos or at least a Yoruba person, ONAC stated.

“For several years, the Lagos Port has been a source of financial muzzle for Nigeria. This port is located in Yorubaland and was used for trans-Atlantic trade route for over 1000 years by the Yoruba Nation before the artificial creation of Nigeria. It is disheartening that the Nigerian government has continued to undermine the natural right of Yoruba people to be made the NPA chairman. Successive governments have continued to commit this deliberate error. President Goodluck Jonathan has just committed the same assault on our people by his recent appointment”, the statement signed by ONAC official, Mr Olumide Ajayi stated.

ONAC stated that the appointment of a non-Yoruba as the NPA chairman violates the UN convention on indigenous rights. ONAC stated that the UN convention stresses  absolute need for consultation of state governments in the management of resources that belong to indigenous people the way the ports in Lagos belong to the people of Lagos. Quoting the UN Convention 169 on the right of indigenous people, ONAC stated that   the spirit of consultation and participation constitutes the cornerstone of Convention No. 169 on which all its provisions are based. The Convention requires that indigenous and tribal peoples are consulted on issues that affect them. It also requires that these peoples are able to engage in free, prior and informed participation in policy and development processes that affect them.ONAC said the Yoruba people have for long been taken for granted adding that it was high time the ethnic nationality began to bare her fangs.

The principles of consultation and participation in Convention No. 169 relate not only to specific development projects, but also to broader questions of governance, and the participation of indigenous and tribal peoples in public life.

The group said eventhough President Goodluck Jonathan is of the ethnic minority stock, his understanding of indigenous rights is narrow.

until we start seeing ourselves as nigerians rather than people living in nigeria, we will never get to the promise land. lagos port is owned by the federal government and not lagos state.

Then it is foolishness on Buhari's part to ask people to forgive a man who think he's is above reprieve! APC cannot apologise on his behalf, he's not a member of APC! What Buhari should be calling for is his dethronement and and arrest for criminal incitement with the intent to encourage mass murder!

Mr. Akiolu, your people say you are god and cannot descend to human level. Okay ooo. You don't deserve forgiveness, continue in your macabre dance of foolishness, the surugede, dance of spirit!

The result of NA election across the country is an indication that GMB's victory was not a fluke.

People were generally tired of PDP's 16 years of mediocre performance throughout the nation with the exception of SE/SS which is really hinged on ethnic and religion sentiment. If not for those two mentioned factors, they would have voted in the same pattern as the other regions.

Let's see how PDP will fare as an opposition party even though the gale of defection we're witnessing now does not mean well for our democracy. I want an equally strong PDP to constantly breathe down on an APC-led central government because it is the only way Nigeria can get it right.

Can't the NA enact a law regulating defection of politicians?

so what do you think of ne and nw? Don't be an armchair journalist, move around for proper investigation. Those regions only think of power returning to the north and nothing else. They only used sw and part of nc to actualise their dreams. The way you are looking at it is not the same way northerners do.

Politics / Re: Suswam’s Deputy, Lawani, Aondoakaa , Others Set To Defect To APC In Benue by attoskoly: 7:22am On Apr 05, 2015
kaywizee:
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue State is gradually fizzling out with the overwhelming of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the last Saturday election.

The former youth director for the Suswam campaign organisation, Chief John Akperashi Gum has already fixed a date, 7th April, 2015 for his defection ceremony.

Meanwhile, former minister of justice, Mike Aondoakaa (SAN) and Suswam’s deputy, Chief Steven Lawani and a member-elect of the House of Representatives for the Ukum, Katsina-Ala and Logo, Emmanuel Udende have concluded plans to defect to the APC.

Yesterday, the former youths director of Suswam, Akperashi withdrew all his campaign vehicles from the PDP campaign organisation, rebranded them with the campaign pictures of General Buhari and Chief Ortom and formally donated them to the Ortom/Abounu campaign organisation in a well organised ceremony.

Till we Nigerians remove ethnicity from our government/ presidential choices Nigeria will never move forward, my point is we have seen what Jonathan can do (Nothing), let us try something different for once. I don't need to vote for Jonathan because he is from ss, all I am concern about is the betterment of Nigeria, and mind you, Nigeria is in a new phase of democracy, if Buhari do not perform in the next four years he will be kicked out just like Jonathan.

there would have been blood all over the streets if buhari had lost. You will not argue with etc if buhari eventually loses. Imagine them celebrating with knives, spears, cutlasses, machetes and sticks. Our sw, and part of nc people thought it is all about change. Huh! To them it's all about power returning to the north. You people will see the real thing if anything happens now. The elections were rigged in consensus in the north. Even the security agents were the ones holding under age and elderly voters' fingers to thumb print.

So he is now a hero because he conceded? Did he have a choice?

GEJ has played Politics with the Lives of thousands of our Countrymen for too long. History will never be kind to him. Note that He wasn't magnanimous by accepting defeat, the circumstances and factors were all against him. He didn't concede, he was compelled to. He didn't give us democracy, we demanded it and we got it. He is not a hero by any standard.

We should separate sentiments from matters of National Interest, all those who made hate speeches should be prosecuted. All those who stole our collective wealth must be jailed and made to refund the money.

Sending congratulatory messages to Buhari should not confer automatic Immunity to these Wicked Criminals.

The true Heroes are those who stood up in the rain to vote and stayed to make sure their votes count. Not GEJ who allowed impuntiy unchecked, to whom "Stealing is not corruption".

GEJ's concession of defeat is commendable, but not admirable. He must answer for embezzled funds.[/b]

you are a bad winner and an unpatriotic Nigerian. Respect must be given to gej whether you like it or not. In 2011, gej defeated gmb by more than 12 million votes, we never heard any concession speech from gmb; his supporters went to the streets killing, destroying properties and what have you. When he was approached, he simply responded: my supporters were simply expressing their delight and disappointment at the results. Back to this present one, imagine youths in the north celebrating with knives, cutlasses and machetes plus sticks. Here you are talking of somebody that allowed democracy to peacefully thrive even when he had every opportunity to truncate it parochially. This is what gmb can't do.
congratulations to gmb! Let us wait and watch his promises of stabilising world oil price as well as appreciating naira to equal the dollar, end insurgency and corruption. That is our prayer.
