sometimes they arent wicked though, some drivers will flag you down if they think its not proper to overtake at that point, they see better than you because they are ahead, or have seen a large port hole in the front and he will want to swerve to your lane to avoid the port hole, he doesnt want to tumble also but most arrogant drivers just want to claim , "this is my lane or its my right, this is particular not only to trucks and buses, however, ensure you honk and flash your head lamp , most of them will signal you to pass if you are reasonable enough

You are right. I can't count the number of times truck drivers have saved lives by signalling about dangers ahead. Most times, our business drivers don't listen to them cos they are in a hurry to reach Lagos from East.

This one is not even as bad as what I saw one night while watching Channels news. there were two anchors on that day, Chamberlain and one pretty lady. she blew a kiss to him without knowing that the camera was already focused on them. I was shocked , never imagined they could show off romance in front of TV viewers. Channels TV needs to curb these excesses.lol
NYSC / Re: Know The Pros And Cons Of The States You Want To Choose For Nysc by avuekwe(f): 1:50pm On Jan 08, 2016
Darey00:
Im a graduate hoping to serve in either of Akwa Ibom or Enugu..dunno what to put as 3rd choice.. I just want to chime in something here.. Ogun state is cool. I know this cos i live there.. Agbado to be presice, although the place i live is on the border with Lagos so we enjoy priviledges not uniform with the state. For instance we are under the Ikeja Electricity distribution company. This means we get to have at leat 10-13hrs of light daily. Moreso, there is welfare for the crps members. When i was in secondary school corpers posted to my school were given a corpers lodge. Standard of living is not high and transport system is efficient. Ogun state got cool places like Otta,Ilaro and Sagamu.. However, the people saying Abeokuta is a dead place are not entirely wrong. I know this cos i schooled there for 4 years. The place doesnt compare favourably with Ibadan or Akure.. Sometimes i wonder how it got to be the state capital. The bridges and roads you see there are all post 2013,very bad transport system.and the locals are sometimes rude. The electricity situation is nothing to write home about as you only get 3-4hrs max of light daily, and that is not even regular. To cap it all up Abeokuta has little or no major employment oppotunities. You will tire seaching for firms to work for there. I have about 5 people who are indigenes having to leave the place to work elsewhere in the state.
So,in conclusion,Ogun state is the next best thing after Lagos in the South West (to me oo).. But Abeokuta is a no no

dear, which part of agbado? I stay at abule oko and you forgot to mention the dust. due to massive road construction going on, the roads are all dusty in the dry season and muddy in the rainy season. no coys or infrastructure even basic amenities here in agbado, ifo LGA except private schools.

and lest I forget, don't choose kwara state lest you be posted to baruten LGA. my sis currently serves there and she can't wait to get out.

The best revenge you can give an ex or your hater is becoming successful so the news of your success gets to hunt them for the rest of their lives.

Nice thread.

My friend ex left her and married someone else, I told this babe stop going to the mom's place and stop playing wife when you are not yet wife!! She won't hear....the guy left her for someone else who can't even do half of the work she does in his place.

this post reminds me of the way i dutifully played iyawo for 6 years. Mehn, at the end, he will eventually settle down with someone who won't lift a finger to do anything at all. Just don't waste your time and your strength.

Family / Re: Favourite Memory Of A Lost Loved One by avuekwe(f): 5:36pm On Jan 05, 2015
January 17, 2015 would make it 4 years that my aunt, Chinazo Ogubie passed away at the age of 32 years. She was the last born of my mum. She came to stay with us when she was just 9 years and i was 3 months of age. She grew to love me and my siblings like her own bosom kids. She was the elder sister i always wanted. Anytime i remember her or pass through Owerri, i just can keep the tears away. She had gone through a hard life; got married at 18 years, had a stillbirth, lost her husband to HIV/AIDs at 22 and succumbed to it at 30.

I remember the countless times she would wait for me at the bus park no matter how late just to help me carry my luggage to the village. I would run to her as the next option whenever we were asked to pay any levy in school. She never allowed me do anything at home in the villa; spoiled me to a fault. She would disturb me, asking me to dress up so she can show me off to her friends in the villa. Always intuitive; the first time I had a fight with my ex-bf, she persuaded to go to Aba immediately and make up with him without delay. I could go on and on recounting all the wonderful
memories i had of her.

my one regret is that i failed to visit her on my last trip to owerri before she died. She had called to inform me that she had malaria and that she would like to see me but i gave her a lame excuse. I pray that God would remember and bring her back to life on the resurrection day.

Politics / Re: The Bricklayer’s Breakdown Of Nigeria’s Proposed 2015 Budget by avuekwe(f): 7:44am On Dec 31, 2014
Reddit:

The free fall of oil price is not only sending our currency on a downward trend, it is also making it difficult for the CBN to defend the naira, this is a double jeopardy. As long as the CBN keeps trying to defend the naira, it burns our external reserve pretty fast, this is not a good sign. So by relaxing the value of the naira a bit is a good thing to do.

Devaluation like in many other economies creates winners and losers. The losers are those that make their money in naira but have to spend in dollars, like the importers, shopping and flying abroad, paying tuition fees abroad etc. While the winners are those that make their money in dollars but have to spend in naira, exporters also benefit.
In the long run if the value of the naira keeps falling, the economy at large will be affected. Nigeria is an import dependent nation, by this, the general cost of goods and services will rise and you know what that means, high inflation. Not good at all.

I hope this helps?

Thanks

thanks, you made it clearer for me to grasp. I can plan accordingly

@reddit, please I'm not so good with economic theory and budget wahala. But I have a question to ask. You mentioned austerity measures put in place by government, is the devaluation of Naira part of it? Secondly, what does the devaluation mean for us, will things get better or worse next year if Naira value keeps moving from N193 to say N 250 against the dollar and how will that impact on the cost of living and price of buying goods?

However, the Yorubas need to reduce all the extras involved in the ceremony. That is what puts a lot of folks off.

Family / Re: The Little Things That Determine The Success Of A Marriage. by avuekwe(f): 5:55pm On Dec 17, 2014
My own contribution is from a biblical point of view. Husbands are to love their wives as their own body even as Christ loved the congregation and laid down His life for them. This is a big responsibility which shows how far a man should go in protecting his wife even to the point of losing his life. Now that's what i call self sacrificing love, the type Jesus had for the congregation.

women on the other hand are to have deep respect. It is deep cos it goes beyond what you'd ordinarily show to people around you. The reason being that since a man is deemed the head, he is imperfect and prone to make mistakes. Deep respect will help women not to undermine his headship and reduce friction in the home.

with these and the other points listed, we can withstand the test on marriage.
