Politics / Re: How Can I Revoke My Nigerian Citizenship? by Ayolugbema(m): 3:39pm On Oct 18, 2010
Dear Fellow Citizen of the Federal Republic,
If you revoke your citizenship: then one day in any other country they will disappoint you like we have done and will you keep revoking citizenships?

Enjoy what's good about Naija: do what you can to make it better and then live your life in full: NEPA or No NEPA!

What most mortals do not remember is that in 500 years the period 1960-2010 will be just a small dot in the history of Naija: the best is yet to come.

Good luck to you and Good Luck to me!
Politics / Re: Anambra Is The Brain Box Of Nigeria-jonathan by Ayolugbema(m): 3:19pm On Oct 18, 2010
Jonathan:
Is just making a valid observation:

Anambra has produced more than its fair share of brains to the world: it doesn't mean that the other states cant and have not:
They are too many to mention.
Some of them you have never heard of before:

1. Basil Oli
2. Jude O. Igwemezie, Chairman, Globim
3. Johnson Agogbua, Founder Broadband Office
4. Obi Awduche, Information Technology George Mason
5. Alex Animalu PhD Cantab Quantum Physic
6. Dr  Mike Okey Areh, PhD, MIT, Pharma  Odu of Onitsha
These are just hidden ones that are not in the glare of publicity: JEAG knows what he is talking about.
Any way Nigeria's future is bright it is Goodluck
Politics / Re: Tafawa Balewa's Mind-set Captured Accurately by Ayolugbema(m): 10:07pm On Oct 15, 2010
Amazing!
I have just stumbled on the discussion. And If I say I am shocked at the level of ignorance amongst the present day Nigerians; then I may be branded naive as Azikiwe was.

I find nothing wrong with the rhetoric of Tafawa Balewa. He was just playing stoop to conquer with the British. If he was as simple as he was branded he would not have accepted to become prime minister. His politics of denying Azikiwe, Imoudu, Macaulay was only a way of raising his own profile and that of his master Sir Ahmadu Bello: Strange Ahmadu Bello a prince now a knight (servant of the British Crown).
In the game of politics you play to your strengths against your opponents weaknesses. He would have been foolish to have accepted Azikiwe and Macaulay and Imoudu as his superiors he would have been a bad politician to do that.

Azikiwe, wanted a greater united Nigeria because he saw the potential but he underestimated the influence of Islam and tribal allegiances. Just like Gandhi wanted a Greater India because he genuinely felt a greater Nigeria will have power and influence in the world for the black race.
He could have pushed a three state solution at independence having experienced  being booted out by the Yoruba in the West in the late 50s.
So in my analysis he believed that a greater Nigeria will be the best in the long run. Some of us still do.

The NCNC was not a tribal party: It was largely a party formed in Lagos by Herbert Macaulay Azikiwe and many others as a national party and they wanted the Southern Cameroons. It was actually called the National Council of Nigeria and the Cameroons. Its name changed after Southern Cameroons left the Nigerian Federation after the plebscite.
My disappointment with Nigeria is not in what it could have been under the past leaders: it is the narrow and shallow tribalism instincts of some us the younger generation.
Nigeria has failed in its governance and its development trajectory but the nationhood has not failed. We were the first rainbow nation in Africa. Thanks to Azikiwe and those who allowed the Nigerian state to be as one at independence. Thank God we did not create the Northern Nigeria Republic and the Republic Of Western Nigeria and of The Republic of Eastern Nigeria. may be by now we would have 36 mickey mouse countries instead of 36 states. Lagos would have been awful as a typical Yoruba town,  it would be just the most boring place on earth! May be like Ijebu Ode or Abeokuta or Ilorin! Or Ogbomosho! What is Lagos without Ibo, Hausa Yoruba, Edo, Efik, Ijaw, etc! What will PH be without its mixed population? We have actually created unique Nation where the people love each other until they remember their tribe. I am Igbo and would not trade it for any other tribe. But I would not have had such a rich life but for all the other tribes from all over who have made my life so much richer. Could you imagine if everybody I have known in my life is from my village in Anambra State. Goosh we we will all look and talk like Peter Obi; God forbid!

Our football when is good is a unifying force for pride! Our music is the same! Our Pentecostal Christianity sing yoruba, ibo, efik and hausa songs. Nollywood is unifying except we now have oduwawood, kollywood but its Nigerian. Our food is all mixed up now amala.edikaing kon, afang, ewedu, nsala, suya, ogbono, native soup, oha ugu, tuwon shinkafa!

The governance issue will be sorted the democracy or civilian is only just started.
But truly speaking what are 50 best things that Nigeria is worth staying together for!
