Politics / Re: Education: 6-3-3-4 Has Failed – Jonathan by Bentola: 2:56pm On Oct 05, 2010
I was of the older system with HSC in-between. But I still want to tell you that having been in the outside world and witness the power in the 6-3-3-4 system, I will say I wished I had come during the time. There are more to it than just getting materials and teachers who could not use the materials.
The system itself was not defined then. We put the new wine in an old bottle. The system divides and defines who goes to where from the primary school. From the time a child enters into the primary school, a great observation of his likes and dislike are monitored. These likes and dislikes are then moderated into capabilities and then subjects of learning. What interests the child is encouraged and works upon to follow him up to fruition. Some children can work alone while some are better in a team. By the time they finish their primary school, the school would have known if a child will be qualified for academic or handy work or in between.
At the junior secondary school, some children change as a result of peers. Those who were once academic-prone may change and vice visa, the system and the school must also respond to that. Also at the junior secondary school the school and the industry become cooperative in the life of the child through internship. Whoever wants to become Hotel manager for instance, must start going to hotels for may be cooking, dish-washing; by the time he gets to senior secodary school, he must be able to enter figures in a simple excel sheet.
The parents have a role playing in this also. In Nigeria today, No parent will allow his/her child to go to a mechanic spot for ordinary observation. The teachers will favour children of parents that sends gift often; and some parents will buy questions for their child to avoid going to technically oriented schools.
How then can you blame a system that cannot implement itself but relied on you Mr. President for its success?
Politics / Re: Education: 6-3-3-4 Has Failed – Jonathan by Bentola: 2:23pm On Oct 05, 2010
I beg to disagree with Mr. President sir. 6-3-3-4 was not an initiation of Nigeria. Nations like Holland and Germany are the greatest advocate of this system. Up till now, it is still working for them. No family gives birth in Nigeria and abandon the child in the hospital. In the contrast, no formidable change in Nigeria had ever been followed through.
It is always abandoned with no regrets.
If you ask why is this so,  The administrators will tell you it is lack fund. The question is: what fund? where is the 1 or 2% corporate tax on education from 1990? where is it diverted? or who is the custordian of this fund?
Where are the lawmakers who should legislate on compulsory interaction between the schools and the industry (the core of 6-3-3-4 System). Where is the link betwen the colleges and bank and technology. The famous Eindhoven University of Technology was established by Philips, the giant Electronics Global Company. Philips is making profit from the university today as is making profit from the research that comes out it.
Every lazy-centered system like ours will continue to live below expectation as long as there are rewards for such laziness.
Mr. President, you came from academics, your former boss was from the same education sector. Do something about it. Let me give one simple piece of advice. You either let people know that those who are entering into academics should not expect money as their conertparts in the oil industry, or You influence a law that will make everyone in the education sector to get paid as their counterpart in the oil industry. Without clear-cut commitment to education, it is doomed. The current case in UK, where education has turned to an abberration should be a learning study for us .
Sports / Re: Yekini: Philanthropist Or Mentally Imbalanced? by Bentola: 1:52pm On Oct 05, 2010
I think our reporter should also suggest what he thinks a person of Yekini's achievement shoukld look like. His mannarism, lifestyle and the like. Most things you repoted to the world were his woes: his destroyed marriage, lost children and the like. These you do with authority. But when it comes to his achievements, it was a secondhand information from people like Sally that you know and nobody else does.
I think our reporter should go and learn how to leave a life after retirement from Yekini before he retires from journalism.
Politics / Re: Nigeria’s Elections Put Criminals In Power – Efcc ! by Bentola: 1:46pm On Sep 23, 2010
As long as satisfying the international community remains the anti corruption goal of the EFCC, the national consciousness will never be realized. Taking money from where you did not put one is not corruption, it is stealing. Pretending that it does not matter; or protecting those you know are doing it is what is corruption. This is because since the first person is not apprehended or even praise, others will also want to be praised or doubt being apprehended.
So madam Waziri, if you know any memeber of this National Occultists that called themselves assembly and you are protecting them, you should not be in the seat at EFCC, you should be in the EFCC's cell.
Sports / Re: I Can’t Sacrifice For Nigeria – Siasia by Bentola: 1:19pm On Sep 23, 2010
I think NFF or Siasia should let us know the total contract agreement. Training Package, overseas allowances, Coaches' Training & development programms, family allowance (e.g. Children education), accommodation, etc and what is attached to each of these responsibilities.
For instance, if Siasia will benefit from overseas training as National coach, even when he is fired he will still go with his credentilas which is more than money. We cannot just say because we have irresponsible political leadership or even maniac sports administrators, we should then add to the list with greedy National coach.
The Dutch National coach is on the national salary scale like any other civil servant, and many of the coaches are always qeueeing to be called to coach the national team.
I agree with Siasia that Nigeria may not worthy sacrificing for, but try and build into your contract what can bring personal development rather than monetary values.

Business / Re: How White Zimbabwean Farmers Are Revolutionising Poultry Production In Kwara by Bentola: 2:43pm On Aug 31, 2010
There are millions of question raised by one informed Nairalander that no one is interested in answering. I guess that's another nigerian factor. We have seen media report of what has been done in Kwara state to our astonishment. Some of these are possible with our own people too as OFN farm in Otta has proven.

But there are few issues that are totally neglected now or seems irrelevant. One is, when will the reason why these white farmers from Zimbabwe start politicking? Are all laws, rules and regulations in place in such a way that we will not sell the conscience of our nation to these foreigners who always subtly enter into our country with carrots and after they are fully accepted, they bring out their canes. Remember as many of us had put it, they are our masters, may be you think in good ways but they are also evil geniuses. Remember the Lebanese, Koreans, even the Ghanaians, and most recently, the Sudanese in the North. All of these people have their hidden agenda that are usually not revealed until we are cut in the web. Most us in the diaspora will tell you, you can eat with long spoons when dining with the devil. But when dining with the whiteman, my brother, use your hand. Proverbs says when eating with the kings consider what is placed in your front; Consider the chicken and milk that is put on you table now.

These people are getting this support from the government because they would have the government's hand in it before accepting the offer to come to Nigeria, after all, No european will trust Nigerians.
Let us therefore do the same to them: DO NOT TRUST THEM. If Mugabe had known this before, He would not sold his people to them and after he finished spending the proceed, they deny decency. The so called Pickwick, English blended tea is from the soil of Zimbabwe or those of you in England you have seen the Pickwick plantation in the UK?

It is only you Nairalanders who know or call anyone one corrupt. The only qualification to hold public office in Nigeria is what you are undermining. Naiarlanders, you cannot understand because you are not qualify for the underlining certification called CoRRUPTION.

Religion / Re: Do Christians And Muslims Worship The Same God? by Bentola: 2:50pm On Aug 27, 2010
This is master piece as far as the christain scripture aplies. I fully agree with you. However, can you do anther piece using the literature, the quoran, to establish your defence.
There is also the epitomological and historical perspective to answer this interesting topic. Is it possible to look into this also by anyone, any expert in the house should help out.
Sports / Pre Empting Soccer Victory Pyschie by Bentola: 2:40pm On Aug 27, 2010
Hi guys,
I think we should start to look at what we could do from the sidelines to make our Eagles SUPER again.
One big missing ingredient in the Nigerian squard has always been discipline/indiscipline. If you can still picture the world cup openers in your mind, You could still remeber that only few of our partriots could sing our National anthem. Infact, it is so disgusting the way Yakubu was shamelessy shewing his gum that you start imagining wether he is not part of the team. An unfortunate Team Captain in most matches of the competition.
In every serious competition, pre match state of minds of the participants gives the match away or wins it. About 70% of Nigerians competitive matches were in this way thrown to those who are less competent than us.
My submission: Can we start from making "ability to sing our Nationa Anthem" a sina qua non for team qualification?
What do you think?
Business / Re: Innovative block-making machine by Bentola: 10:35am On Aug 27, 2010
Amazingly, instead of repainting year-in year-out, all you need to do is to water-wash and it continues to shine through you. So the dusty environment does no harm to your exterior.

That is where good bricklayers' are required. it doest not require any extra efforts than that of the redbricks though. the beauty of it is that there is also possibility of making a matching fancy blocks for the fences and balconies.
Business / Innovative block-making machine by Bentola: 1:34pm On Aug 26, 2010
2ceSharp,
Thanks for all your inputs into the business world. Do you think a Block moulding business can have its way in Nigeria? I have completed a newly engineered Colour Blocks and bricks machine, which given a good bricklayer, will not require painting after building completion. The colour the block/brick has is maintained forever. Like the burnt/red bricks, but then you can choose your colour before moulding. The colours are then computer generated to make it rythm throughout production. It is therefore, expected to be premium product.
Give advice. Thanks again.

Fashion / Re: Dressing Is Becoming Gosshhhh In Nigeria by Bentola: 12:37pm On Aug 26, 2010
If you don't see anything wrong with these mode of dressings, ask yourself if you will vote for anyone vying for a responsible office but dressed while campaining to you. Or better still, if you are aman, can you marry any of these ones; or in worse case scenerio, will you approve your child marrying anyone dressed this way?

LandLords/Ladies, isn't time we start putting the cost of tarring the adjourning roads to these our beautiful master pieces that we build everywhere?
I have seen houses that will stand and compete in most parts of the world in terms of magnificience only to get to the same house 2 years later and start wondering if the owner died before s/he moved in.
Those who take care of the exteriors by renovating and painting, have to do it every other year. My question for discussion is: is there a way by which individuals/neighbours/communities can organize and tarr their adjourning roads?
For sure, there are more advantages than just the beauty of the houses. one of the unattended health problems in Nigeria is Lung problem and dusts account for over 89% of this. can we start adding the cost of pavements and street road to our building costs?
Bentola.

the boring nature came because we stopped discusing ideas. In the case above, Dusts could be anything; human, area boys; lanlord unions against tenants, etc. The question is how do we deal with these issues as they arise? is it not worth to note that it is because there is no consumer associations or commuters associations, are part of the reasons why every seller never putter buyers in mind?
