kc08: KC08, many analysts and stock brokers offer portfolio management services to clients who'd rather have them make the investment decisions, and the charges vary. IBTC requires a minimum of N20M to open a managed portfolio and charges abt 20% (if I'm not mistaken)on profit only. Another option I know of is Stockpick consulting (tundedixon@stockpicksconsulting.com), they are into investment trainings, Research/analysis and portfolio management; they are affiliated to a stock broking firm (cant remember the name now) through which they trade on their clients' behalf. The broking firm charges about 2% on capital for every trade and Stockpicks consulting charges another 2%, bringing the total commission you pay per trade to about 4%. The enticing thing about portfolio management is that you can comfortable go to bed and expect your portfolio manager to do the worring about how to grow your investment. The bad side is that not being actively involved in the investment decisions will deny you the privilege of growing more knowledgable about the stock market and in some cases also the profit generated is less than you can get as an informed investor concentrating all efforts at managing just your own portfolio. Also you forfeit part of your profit in service % charges. My advise is that if you must have a managed portfolio, don't just sit back, take it as an opportunity to learn from big time players, ask your portfolio manager what informed his stock selection, entry and exit price. Also try to follow all trading on your portfolio online. Some portfolio manager may not welcome part participation but some do, so you may want to ask before making a choice. Except it is absolutely impossible to find time to get necessary information (like we're all trying to do here), pls aspire to attain the needed capacity to successfully manage your own portfolio eventually. ![]() |

Obalende: One relationship officer you can talk to in Lead Capital is Kayode Akinjogbin (08061660086, kayode.akinjogbin@leadcapitalng.com). You can also send a mail to customerservice@leadcapitalng.com. Not sure you will get an official letter for account opening but you'll be able to confirm that when you contact them. I'd say it really doesn't matter, official email confirmation on money transfers and trading usually should do (plus phonecalls as the need arise). When you get a CSCS number, you can always call directly to confirm if what's in your portfolio is as your broker has said. Cheers! |

aktopgun: Thanks 4 the response, placed the order, should have been bought, yet to confirm. I didn't read far back enough to get the start of the talk on Tobe, but from the much I've read I can guess he's your son. Just want you to know I said a prayer for him the first time I heard you make reference to medical tests and I'll be praying for him tonight. The covenant of life and peace in Christ is for YOU and YOUR HOUSEHOLD. @fo2 Thanks for re-affirming ccnn. I don try enter. |

A friend sent me this story, enjoy! Once upon a time in a village, a man appeared and announced to the villagers that he would buy monkeys for Rs10. The villagers seeing that there were many monkeys around, went out to the forest and started catching them. The man bought thousands at Rs10 and as supply started to diminish, the villagers stopped their effort. He further announced that he would now buy at Rs20. This renewed the efforts of the villagers and they started catching monkeys again. Soon the supply diminished even further and people started going back to their farms. The offer rate increased to Rs25 and the supply of monkeys became so little that it was an effort to even see a monkey, let alone catch it! The man now announced that he would buy monkeys at Rs50! However, since he had to go to the city on some business, his assistant would now buy on behalf of him. In the absence of the man, the assistant told the villagers. Look at all these monkeys in the big cage that the man has collected. I will sell them to you at Rs35 and when the man returns from the city, you can sell it to him for Rs50." The villagers squeezed up with all their savings and bought all the monkeys. Then they never saw the man nor his assistant, only monkeys everywhere!!! Welcome to the "Stock" Market!!!!! |
