Number portability is a Regulator (NCC in this case) imposed feature that allows a subscriber to switch between network while retaining the same mobile no digits. The way it works that each operator provide their unique USSD codes for porting. So say for example if you use 08033333333 on MTN and you want to switch to Airtel..you just need to buy and register a new Airtel sim card, then put it on your cell phone and dial the Airtel provided migration code before making any call and you will be switched after sometime (usually 12-24 hrs). And subsequently, you will have the same 08033333333 as an airtel nos. So you have switch operators but your contacts can still reach you on your old nos.

Ideally, it involves no negotiation whatsoever with your previous provider, the decision is entirely yours. Remember that the phone nos does not belong to the operators, but they are generated by the regulators (NCC).

i just finished facilitating a training; when we got to discursion on project communication management a guy from one of the major foreign Telcoms was seriously lamenting of problems that have beleagued is on going project.
On through analysis we discovered that it just about wrong management of info on the project, especially as it affects the technical manager and the project manager. And more appalling is the fact that we discover that his was not an isolated case as other trainees has similar experiences.

In addition to the response by Kashif, as the project Manager make it a duty to educate the stakeholders of their roles and expectations on the project during initiation meetings, 2ndly it is high time we the project managers started to 'insist' that a formal change control board be put in place cos in most cases the members assist you in monitoring and control hence management involvement and lastly keep verbal communication with stakehoders or management as the case may be minimal on your projects.

After re-installing XP on my HP 530 it could produce sound again, it always give error msg: NO SOUND DEVICE detected!
I guess its the sound card driver but cant get it to download anywhere and I dont have the REcovery disk; PLS HELP!
And if my guess is wrong pls better solutions are welcomed.

You are taking a good decision; I advise that you dont totally close your eyes to the PMBOK 3rd edition as most of the text and materials currently available for now are tailored along the 3rd edition. But the good thing is that there is not much differnce between the two as I have read the 4th edition so as to spice up my trAINING CLASSES WITH IT.
The summary of the diference between them is as follows:

All process names are now in a verb-noun format

· Efforts were made to distinguish between Enterprise Environmental Factors and Organizational Process Assets.

· A standard approach for discussing requested changes, preventive actions, corrective actions and defect repairs was employed.

· The processes decreased from 44 to 42:

· Two processes were deleted.

· Two processes were added.

· Six processes were reconfigured into 4 processes in the Procurement knowledge area.

· To provide clarity, a distinction was made between the Project Management Plan and project documents used to manage the project.

· The distinction between the information in the Project Charter and the Project Scope Statement was clarified.

To your question what you just described may not pass for PMI definition of project; I will advise you go for a PMP training but take the capm exam( you can still reference the training for your pmp exam later provided it is within 3yrs- will have to reconfirm d exact nos of yrs.
