hello hobat4cash Bringing wifi and creating hotspot in uyo or fixed broadband wireless is posible so that people can access the internet in their homes/offices but you will have to answer the following questions. Are you the one to be responsible for all the cost implications or your company. Are you sure people really needs the service in that area Can you gurantee of 150-200 subscribers minimum in the first six-eight month of operation. If all the above question is answered positively, Beetechnet Systems would be higly interested in taking on the project or jointly. We would send you a proposal, as soon as you re ready. Or send mail to beetechnet@gmail.com Regards |
Computers / Re: Wimax In Abuja, Nigeria Using Alvarion Breezemax System by Bolaji4349(m): 4:17pm On Jul 28, 2006 |
Hello Wimaxer, Nice point you have there, secondly maybe you did not get my geek there, of course i no the difference btw wifi and wimax technology. wht am trying to say is a pre-wimax wifi outdoor base stations. can you decode that i guess? The issue of Ncc regulating frequencies at which service provider operate in Nigeria has never been effective rather they are busy with the telecoms companies regulating their tariffs and other thing they felt they can raise funds, Wether Ncc has banned service provider to operate at a frequencies in nigeria or not every body who is technically sound no that, there lots of service provider out there whom operate at any frequencies so far as it's going to meet their expectation coverage area. Operating at ISM band of 2.4, every body nos it a free license environ that does not need you register if you want to operate in that frequencies, it's none worldwide. That's why you will no that Ncc is not good enough. Yeah wimax is the answer to the broadband world because its promising a very large coverage, of about 25 miles or more. Most service provider still find it expensive to upgrade to wimax b'cos their existing infrastructure is working for them effective especially those that provide fixed wireless. But as time goes, there would be a need for that in terms of coverage. Most fixed wireless outdoor systems manufacturer operating at ISM band are now providing upgrade to wimax technology through updating via firmware so there is no need discarding your old systems for new built wimax system. Its only the new companies just entring the game of wireless broadband internet would rather go for 802.11n technology. Alverion is doing very well and they had roged systems. Me as a person dont really reley on a vendor. there are many vendors providing wimax systems out there and the fact that they are not yet deploy in Nigeria does not make alverion alone in wimax world, if you go internet you will find many of them. |

Hello Wimaxer Something tells me you re trying to compile some research if not so, probaly you re member of the wimax forum or is it that you work for alverion or wht? Anyway my company is on a process of deploying wi-fi base station in surulere, lagos here for Salcom so that clients can connect with standard wifi card but am not considerin alverion here. but the base station will be on wimax technology It's averion and lobometrics i recommend if one want to start a fixed wireless service provider because both produce a good wimax system. On the issue of frequency, i learn that NCC had announce no ISP should deploy any system operating at 5ghz up ward without proper licensing. But a colleague of mine who work for a WISP here in lagos said NCC visited their office to check if they were oprating at a frequency or not but it was an oral conversation, i guess they don't really have the right tool to examine or was it that they don't have the professional. 1 Like 1 Share |

hello Mr. Wimax, Abuja is not the first city to deploy wimax technology my guy, or Alverion product, Wimax technology had been deploy here in lagos since by DOPC and some other WISP here using the same BreezeMAX 3500! Any Comment on this? |
Computers / Re: My ISP (Intercellular) Is Blocking Secure Sites (HTTPS) by Bolaji4349(m): 3:36pm On Jul 23, 2006 |
Hello K9 Sorry dat you re havin this difficulties! Firstly i dont no how that is true that INTERCELLULAR will have been so stupid enough to block traffic passing through port 443 i.e your https site. Then wht do they want you to use the internet for. just to chat or browse non-secure site? Anyway if that is the case! that you re denied browsin secure site b'cos it has been firewalled, am afriad you might not have a solution for that, If you try to bypass the firewall, then maybe intercellular engineers are not good enough! The only thing you can do is change to starcomms or reltel or any other dialup servicing companies out there. I see no reason why secure site should be blocked. most site for online transaction make do with https, as matter of fact most companies that offer email servicing this days are now using https when you try to log in to access your account, example is Google mail and even your popular YAHOO! now redirect you to use a secure manner in getting into your mail box. If truely ssl port has been blocked, then you re almost denied accessin most important site on the net, So i advice you kick out their box and get another service from another company! |

To support what sbucareer has said, get the lastest update on IE you are using. another instance is that when you open too much browser on your systems while using the internet, and you have less processing resources on that systems, them windows will give you error on pages. just like wht u re getting. Another option for you is to consider using firefore or netscape. cos disablin it will not solve ur problem cos there is a setting on ur system that state "any application that course error on ur system should either close or roboot the system itslef |

Webmasters / Re: How Can I Get My Site On Https by Bolaji4349(m): 1:20pm On Jun 25, 2006 |
Hello Udeze You want your site run and access via ssl, do you do online transaction on the site, do u think you have some certain thing you dont want the internet people to viw on your site or a particular page, or you just want to be secure. If it is a particular page you want to denied the internet, then get it lock by authenticating who click that particular page. Firstly my recommendations, there is no point you run ssl if you dont do online transactions or emailing , If you think you want to get your site secure just for security sake, then create a self signing certificate. if your web hosting company allow that. but remember nobody will trust your site than yourself. If you want to allow your site be trusted by every one then do as your co. webmaster as suggested by purchasing cert from security company like Verisign or Thawte. This are popular security cert issuing company on the internet. Best of lock |
Programming / Re: Web Based Software Vs Standalone Solution by Bolaji4349(m): 11:25am On Jun 23, 2006 |
Web base application and standalone application, i think from my own point of view as a network guy, web base application would have be fine for any enterprise application of any type, sbucareer has said it all and i think i also support his motion. If the network is about 20-30 connected devices, it's understandable but if you re talking about 50 to infinite numbers of connected devices, then web application would be ideal. For instance, a network admin trying to use a static form of addressing in a network of 100 connected devices-upward instead of using a dynamic addressing. Now talking about intranet and internet web base application, i guess pulling the application from and intranet server would be as fast as it being on a standalone if the back end server is robust and process hundreds of client request with in a seconds, let say gigabit network solution is deploy, the response of the server will be as fast as you pulling it from a standalone. And again if clusters of server are deploy so that you can have network load balancing, you will have less down-time and some other advantages Deploying a standalone application in an enterprise network would be highly un-professional for who so ever deployed it. Now deploying a web base application vid the internet. This option is meant for servers for replica of database and wont be ideal for client-server deployment, |

Islam for Muslims / Re: God and Allah: Are they the same? by Bolaji4349(m): 5:42pm On Jun 04, 2006 |
this guy talking about jeep or nissan is trying to complicate matters here or what ever he is talking. it's a simple thing we all talking about here, if you dont no about thing, the internet is there for research, , they are thousand of language all over the world and ppl refer to God in many ways, for instance i speak yoruba and the way i refer to God is different from the guy who comes from igbo land and same from round the way. the english ppl refer to God as God, the musliem refer to God as Allah and many language refer to God at their respective language, the reason why most christian are confuse is probaly somebody is not telling the truth some where, the bible is written in english and that is why most ppl think it's english that has been the language ppl speak since God started creating the world, which is not so, the only Quran is written in arabic and there, God is refer to as Allah, period!!! take it or leave it, |

hello deen, If you want to know about networking, i advice you go to one of the good IT training institute out there, NIIT or Aptech, Networking is very wide than wht you can just assume, the guy who reply you first has given you some hits on what a router is, a router is realy the core device in internetworking, without it, two or more seperate network cannot inter communicate. it's the third layer of the osi model if you no what an osi model is all about, that is the network layer, where routing takes place. |

Computers / Re: Networks by Bolaji4349(m): 9:20pm On May 21, 2006 |
What is so special about this CCNA thing you guys are talking here or cisco routers of a thing, you are making things disficult for the newbies. Why would i want to do routing and go buy about 5,000 dollars cisco router "for wetin!" tell me what the cisco router would do that i cannot configure my linux box to do? Dont get me wrong here, i configure cisco routers "fine" even till their 3500 series routers but with no single certfication from cisco, even to your ccna thing, what really matter is what you can offer and what you can lay your hands on in real time! The newbies, for getting jobs in IT in Nigera, you need to go write those exams oh! don't compare yourself with me oh! the question i would have love to ask here if anybody would want to help about is in security and that is "configuring certificate sevices over IPsec in a network of MS server 2003 and linux network" since this is a network room" Please anybody who knows about this will be invited by me to test the connectivity in a network lab and probaly would be paid. For the guy talking about how best one can deploy "MAN" network, I think the best way is going wireless, there are still wireless device that could cover up to 60-70 miles radius when you are setting it up in a central location of your "MAN" network. for instance calculating lagos state area from it's central point of view, "i don't think it's up to 49km radius" this is a rough calculations, the town planning people will no better! , the best way deploying metropolitan area network is to go wireless. going wired with fiber optic will be too expensive and time consuming! |
Computers / Re: 802.11b Wireless ISP CPE: How To Build? by Bolaji4349(m): 11:14am On May 20, 2006 |
hi Gridlock, If the base station unit support PCI Card, "that's nice" but the distance it will connect at 500ft is another issue, but i can give you a suggestion on weather you can extend the coverage area with a pci card, You will do more of the work, go internet and make a researche on verious kind of ant that can work with Pci card, i guess you will find one btw 12 and 19dbi you wanted, the manual of that ant will instruct you on how to make the connection but to be precise what you will do is to remove the small ant that comes with the wireless PCi card and insect the one of the ant, with this you will be able to design a cost effective CPE but i dont no how far your base station unit signal can go, that will determin how far your CPE can be situated. You are right by saying wireless g card cannot go far but they work effectivily than B card, the reason why hunter i advice G card is for futuer purpose and when there is more request on bandwith from your customers and large data is required to pass through, Gridlock, let me put a tip in your mind now, if you are not consdering Wimax systems now, dont think your system can go far as 12km radius (you are assuming theoritiacally), in achieving 12km or more, try considering about 4 sectorial ant backing themself so that you can achieve feather distance just like the way the telecom guys does, check any terminal station of any telecom company, they dont use an omi directional ant but sectorial cos the secotrial look at one end and go farther than omni, If only your base station unit can go farther for about 12km radius or more with an omi ant then go for it but follow the directive of your base station unit vendor. Before finalizing on your decision let your company setup a test wireless network and conduct a proper survying in testing the solution from your base station to about 12km radius or more if you use the right CPE trying to connect. Regard |

hello tope getting internet access from that place you are from lagos is not possible from multlinks and starcom, only if you have multlinks and starcom phone working in your side there, that's when it's possible. If you want to use internet go to an hotspot "cyber cafe" Cos getting internet work in that you area will required a vsat systems and you might not able to afford that for just personal use. only if you want to use it to do business to set-up an hotspot. |

Computers / Re: 802.11b Wireless ISP CPE: How To Build? by Bolaji4349(m): 12:33pm On May 13, 2006 |
Hunter is right! i also advice using G-class instead of B, the cost difference is not that much! very soon wireless vendor will stop production of wireless B b'cos of the invent of Wimax promising about 25miles coverage capabilities, by this time next year, Wireless B will no where to be find if you dont deploy G-class. So look into your consideration. when Wimax system will be much in the market or very popular, it might be diffilcult for wireless B client to connect or wimax systems might not supprt it b'cos of it's limited data rate transfer of 11mbps. you can imagine a base station in a distance of 20miles away and you want to use wireless B client to connect and B data rate speed is 11mbps and again now where voice, video and large data are going to send throught wireless media, so you can see how the connection is going to be poor or it will never work at all compare to G where you have total connection thruoghtput from 54-108mbps. another consideration is the security perspective of it, |
Computers / Re: 802.11b Wireless ISP CPE: How To Build? by Bolaji4349(m): 5:18pm On May 12, 2006 |
In building your on CPE, there lots of option you will have to consider. If you talk about using a Pci card with ant and some other devices, you will ask yourself if your base station system will support that i no of one system that allow the CPE to be either a brigde or a wireless PCI card, A friend of mine that work with an internet wireless provider like yourself use a system of a very simple brigde that is not that cost but built it in a kind of way that suit much like a CPE. i don't have the picture of one here i would have show here. the one you said your company use which am seeing here, !! too big, or probally it work fine, |
Computers / Re: Linux or Windows Operating System? by Bolaji4349(m): 9:55pm On May 11, 2006 |
No body here is talking about Solaris here and unix!!! I started using linux for over a year now and is pretty good for server envrion especially for web developers, it's the best server for hosting website and for core firewall if you no how to configure it in real time. I started with fedora-core 4 but no i want to move to redhat enterprise 4 because fedora distro to my knowlege and from redhat state that, fedora is use in very low security area where security is not an issue but redhat in production environ where security is at its maximum. Another distro i think is one of the best out there but i have never use it at all is debien, before i try learning linux i was pure microsoft guy but now am a mixture of those NOS including solaris. i currently run solaris 10 on my network lab, Now i just use linux for my firewall and VPN server and some other services. But I still tell poeple that off all those good thing about linux, i still believe microsft is still on top if talk about firewall, go check Ms ISA Server 2006, for your firewall and VPN Connectivity, In VPn deployment microsoft is still at the top in VPN security, with its VPN qurantinee embedded with Server 2003 SP1 and Ms Isa Server 2004 & 6. Domain Enverion, Microsoft Server is still at top! but notwithstanding must of this solution are good depending on who is configuring it, there is no matter how you configure a linux server for firewall and still allow some on use port open, it will not close its self and same go to microsoft solution for firewall and any server plateform but the best is deploying DMZ network seperately!!!! For the guy talking about firefore, i tell most poeple before to use firefore only on servers and maybe on workstations too, i dont recommend IE for server systems b'cos of some issues, but microsft has come to change my mind with it's new release of IE-7, the beta 2 is pretty dem good in terms of the security features inbult, |
