nuzo: Oh boy, if they come to me with one database, I go fear for my life o. In fact they'll definitely try and locate you (Nuzo) and Kobojunkie and make you pay for all the criticisms you've uttered towards the govt. ![]() But on the serious note, that's going to be very very difficult as there're millions of Nigerians abroad who though live illegally and still don't consider Nigeria as their country. That project go dey very very hard to deploy. |

MT: AMEN @ moves I totally agree with what you said and also I believe if Dapo could succeed here with all the attacks (both positively and negatively) aimed at questioning his real intentions, then the house would definitely be a walk in the park especially when it gets physical as it usually does. By the way, I apologise for not to have got back to you regarding out chat on Sunday.Domestic issues have prevented me. |

Kobojunkie:Trust me I'm very easy to please and I do believe the same as well. Though it's (revelations from God) now being misused and I guess coupled with the friends that Adeboye had kept in the past and his failure to tell them what people believe is the truth, he seems (not according to me ![]() |

Kobojunkie:Exactly. That's the same reason why I said people should start planning ahead. ![]() |

Global economic crisis will last 7 years - Adeboye -Says corrupt office holders may die young From Tolu Olamitoke and Kunle Awosiyan Monday, February 16, 2009 THE global economic downturn will last for seven years, the General Overseer of Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare, has predicted. Pastor Adeboye, at a three-day prayer meeting of the Apostolic Conference of Pentecostal Church leaders in Nigeria held at the RCCG, Redemption Camp, Shagamu, said just like the famine which took place in Egypt in the days of Joseph, the global financial crisis would persist. The meeting, according to him, was held “to know the mind of God for Nigeria in 2009.” The cleric, however, gave a ray of hope for the righteous and faithful in giving their tithes and offering, saying they would witness abundance. Pastor Adeboye, sharing the revelation during the meeting, which he hosted, stated that it was revealed to him that the global economic meltdown would subsist for seven years. “Despite the gloomy economic state worldwide, those who are righteous, faithful in giving their tithes and offering will prosper,” he said. The financial crisis is already taking its toll on the country with several policies being introduced by the government. Just last week, President Yar’Adua announced the cut in salary of political appointees as a result of the meltdown. The Federal Government has also resolved to review downward the salary of workers in the federal civil service. In the month of January alone, N120 billion was said to have been recorded as a shortfall in revenue for the country. Meanwhile, Pastor Adeboye has said that all corrupt political office holders in the country may die young if they did not desist from their nefarious activities. He gave this warning during his visit to Inspirational Radio station in Lagos on Sunday, saying that anyone who had acquired money and property through illegal means would not live to spend the money and enjoy the property. According to him, the Holy Bible had said it clearly that any fellow who acquired money illegally would die in the midst of his days. He stated, “These corrupt people need to be educated that they do not need more than a bed, a pair of shoes, shirts and trousers and possibly, a wristwatch so that they can know the time. They should realise that they had come to this world naked and so shall they return.” Adeboye, who attributed the country’s problem to corruption, said that the glory of God had refused to shine on Nigeria because of some corrupt people who had found themselves in leadership positions. “It is the corruption that is robbing the nation of the glory. The only thing the church can do now is to teach them the way of the Lord and why they should desist from the practice,” he added. Earlier, the General Overseer had commended the efforts of the Chairman of Inspirational Radio, Dr. Erastus Akingbola, saying that the station would go a long way towards spreading the gospel of Christ to the nooks and crannies of the nation. Quoting a verse in the Holy Bible, Adeboye said that the word of God could best be disseminated through the air. He said, “When the word of God travels, it brings healing and joy. Through Inspirational Radio, the word of God will go forth.” In his welcome address, Akingbola described the presence of Adeboye in his office as a special favour from God, adding that Pastor (Mrs.) Folu Adeboye would regularly feature on the radio to give morning prayer to people. He said that he would have loved to air 100 per cent Christian messages and programmes on the radio, but that the country’s policy do not allow that. |

Vision 2020: FG targets 70-year life expectancy In just 11 years from now, Nigerians will enjoy a 70-year life expectancy rate and per capita income of not less than $4,000, if the Federal Government realises its Vision 2020 plan. The vision seeks to place Nigeria among the top 20 global economies by 2020. According to the 2007/2008 United Nations Development Programme Human Development Report, life expectancy at birth in the country is 46.5 years, while GDP per capita income is $1,128. President Umaru Yar'Adua on Monday disclosed the "strategic goals" of the vision at the inauguration of the Vision 2020 Business Support Group at the Banquet Hall of the State House in Abuja. The President, who was represented by Vice-President Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, announced the strategic goals in an address presented at the event. Other targets in the goal include about 300 per cent increase in GDP, availability of adequate infrastructural services; the reduction of infectious diseases to the barest minimum; a modern, technologically driven- agricultural sector; and a globally competitive manufacturing sector. The vision also foresees that Nigeria will be a peaceful haven by that year. Yar'Adua expressed the belief that the vision was attainable. According to the President, "As encapsulated in the NV2020 (Nigeria Vision 2020) framework, our strategic goals include the following; by 2020 the country will be a peaceful, harmonious and a stable democracy. "By 2020, we would have a sound, stable and globally competitive economy with a GDP of not less than $900bn and per capita income of $4,000. "Adequate infrastructure services that support the full mobilisation of the economic sector. "A health sector that supports and sustains a life expectancy of not less than 70 years and reduces to the barest minimum the burden of infectious diseases such as malaria, HIV/AIDS, etc. "A modern, technology enabled, agricultural sector that fully exploits the vast agricultural sector that fully exploits the vast agricultural resources of the country, assures national food security and contributes significantly to foreign exchange earnings. "A vibrant and globally competitive manufacturing sector that contributes significantly to GDP, with a manufacturing value added of not less than 40 per cent." The belief in the possibility of realising the vision is based on the currently strong, and improving fundamentals of the Nigerian economy, according to the President. Explaining his belief that Nigeria could actually become one of the top 20 economies in the world within just 11 years, Yar'Adua said, "These (strategic goals) are very appropriate when one considers key parameters for ranking global economies." He said public resources would not be enough to drive the vision and called on the private sector to support. He hinted that the cost implication of the vision would be shared equally between the government and the private sector. "The support of the private sector in the funding process is considered critical to the attainment of these goals," he added. "I am happy to note that the private sector has not only taken up the challenge, but has gone a step further to concretise this arrangement by agreeing to set up the Business Support Group. He said, "As I look at the eminent Nigerians that have gathered here today despite the short notice, and more importantly in the face of dwindling resources arising from pervading global financial crises and attendant recession, I am proud to say tha we have a responsive private sector." Mikel applies for British citizenship Sunday, February 15, 2009 NIGERIAN international and Chelsea Football Club of England player, John Obi Mikel, is on the verge of bagging a dual nationalty having applied for a British citizenship, Tribunesports authoritatively reports. Impeccable source revealed that that the Nigerian midfield maestro, in a matter of time, would swell the number of Nigerian international footballers in the United Kingdom who enjoy dual nationalty. Having lived in the United Kingdom for about three years, playing in the English premiership with Chelsea Football Club, Mikel is eligible to obtain a British passports baring any unforeseen circumstances. In an exclusve interview with Tribunesports London correspondents, Mikel confirmed the development, stating that it would not be out of place if he applied for British Citizenship. According to him, having lived in the United Kingdom for sometime, he said he was looking forward to becoming a British citizen. ‘’Having been here for three years now, I’m looking forward to upgrading my status in the United Kingdom, then other things can follow,’’ he said. If Mikel’s application is granted, he would have gone the ways of Nigerian national team’s captain, Nwankwo Kanu, Celestine Babayaro who already have dual citizenship. It would be recalled that Super Eagles forward and Everton hitman, Yakubu Aiyegbeni also enjoys an European nationality. Meanwhile, Mikel Obi’s fate still hangs in the balance as the player still has drink-driving charge against his name. The case will be heard in June in London. http://odili.net/news/source/2009/feb/15/614.html |

tatooboy: I wonder. How did those ammunitions get past the port? |

@ Anonimi Where outside Nigeria could I keep abreast of this case on the internet? |

Come on now people, let DapoLam fight for himself rather than us fighting each other. This is enough. I beg in the name of God, let's move off this name-calling and get to business and in fact, DapoLam's shunned this thread anyway so what's the point us bickering back and forth? It's hard to believe that MT and Sauron could now start engaging in war of words thinking of how they started to get involved with this thread from the neutral point of view. Come on now guys. ![]() |
![]() |
debosky: My sentiments exactly. |
![]() |
~smurf: You didn't just write that did you? Despite the fact that HK is now part of China, it's still a class among the rest. Believe that or not. |
![]() |
OMO IBO:Very right. It's a common saying with the people abroad calling Africa the "dumping ground" and I didn't even know that the saying has been coming to fruition. |
![]() |
By the way, this thread has totally been derailed and that's a shame. It's finally meandered to an abrupt end. I doubt DapoLam himself would even know where to start from should he return. ![]() |

tpia: Really? On the real though, I hope our legislators enact laws protecting disabled people as well else we still have a long way to go. |

No one is saying Abati should remain poor but as we all know him, he was quick to dedicate an article with regards to someone who used his name in one of the usual 419 scams so how come he's keeping quiet on this? I think that's why people are rather puzzled. Abati never (or almost wouldn't) ignore allegations that could forever stain his name. I find this a bit puzzling myself though I'm on the fence. |
![]() |
@ Debosky Right o. Thanks for that. So why has Abati chosen to hush over this issue? Ok maybe Sahara Reporters have a score to settle with Dr Abati but the least he could do is to prevent this from dragging on and on and keeping us all in a state of anxiety. I suppose he’s wiser to know that he needs to fight his fight rather than let people defend him because he knows the majority of the people he deals with on a daily basis as he’s not new to this territory. By the way, Abati cannot deny seeing these calls since September 2007 but has (or probably planning to respond in his own time) or chosen to ignore and probably damning the consequences. By the way, if you were Abati, would you respond or rather become quiet over the issue and just let it drag on and on hence people drawing up their conclusions? I think overall, it’s the inaudible silence that’s deafening the people. |
![]() |
@ ~Sauron~ Hahaahah, you make me laugh. He doesn't prefer either. He's intentionally abandoned Nairaland because he gets battered and cannot delete posts at will as compared to facebook where he could combine force with his parlie admin and they could cherry-pick posts. By the way, he's being bombarded on facebook as well and if you think he's having it easy here, try his thread on facebook and also another group was created as I mentioned earlier (above or the earlier page) titled, "Dapolam the deception of 2011" (also in facebook). |

texazzpete:But as reporters who are meant to live by the journalism code of objectivity, aren't Sahara Reporters allowed to produce the minimum evidence they have while the rest of the world deduce their judgments? To be honest, I haven’t seen any prejudice with Sahara Reporters with respect to this case. |
![]() |
akinalabi:I disagree with you as far as the above comment is concerned. You cannot say he shouldn't have been here in the first place. Why should he ignore Nairaland as a campaign front? |
![]() |
Biowande: And here I am as well as hundreds of Nigerians utilising my skills and waking up in the middle of the night to answer calls and drive tens of miles to attend to a tripped transformer in the event of an emergency or other failures “all for the love of money which cannot buy the patriotism nor the love I have for my country.” I hope Nigeria finally gets it right one day because the resources are there, but the leadership is crass. |
![]() |
@ Debosky I think that's perfect enough to serve as an evidence (because at he end of the day, all you need is a proof no matter how small) however it's very rude that Abati has ignored the readers’ call for his response. Though @moves (above) withdrew his comment but I think the comment serves this debate flawlessly as to whether Abati has some people to respond to or not. Sahara Reporters have not labeled Abati as guilty and come to think of it, the initial allegation last year was published by Sahara Reporters and now the response by someone purportedly trying to mimic Abati has also been published by the same people i.e. Sahara Reporters. I feel Sahara have been a bit on the fence overall looking with an unbiased mind. They have not termed him culpable neither are they called for his head but we the people have a right to demand his response else that dirt would be hard to wash off his sleeve the longer it remains there. Don’t get me wrong by demanding our right to hear his response as there’s nothing we could do after all but you sure know that there are some things money can’t buy and damn right one of them is reputation. Think about it, this has been dragging since 27th September (or thereabout) and Abati could just make this very easy by responding in one of his bi-weekly articles. |
![]() |
And by the way people, attached below is what Saharareporters have presented as evidence and I'm not sure if it's acceptable to you or not but depends on your personal opinion however Saharareporters feel satisfied that they've brought out something tangible and hence up to Abati to defend himself on which he's turned deaf ears to everyone.
