Annoying to announceagain that my daughter's passport was not processed.

Her application form was returnedby post (wasting our return postal envelope) only to add a stick-it note saying she is to reappear for capturing.

This is annoying anf unacceptable. I am looking to spending nothing less than £500-600 on this trip from Scottish island to London.

Whatever happened to communicating via email?
CheesyTee:
Thanks to everyone, her passport was dispatched for delivery yesterday, although the status on NIS page still shows “pending NIN verification” but ultimately, revalidating NIN helped.

CheesyTee:
Hello everyone

I recently visited the London passport office with my children to renew our passports. While my passport and my son's passport were delivered within three days of our biometrics, my daughter's passport is still being processed.

The tracking system indicates that her NIN is pending verification. I obtained her NIN, along with my son's, from Nigeria, and I am perplexed as to why hers is the only one that is pending.

I have contacted my mother's back in Nigeria, and the NIMC contact informed me that my daughter's NIN requires revalidation.

My concern is that I have been unable to reach the Nigerian High Commission in London via email or phone. Given that they have not contacted me about the delay, I am uncertain whether her application will be processed once her NIN is revalidated or if I will need to travel to London again.

Anyone with similar experience, pleasenhow did you go about yours? Thank you

Thank you. This is a relief!
Peerielass:

Correct! Once it’s validated, it should automatically link to the NiS database. They call it ‘drop’ in local Nigerian parlance.
Travel / Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by CheesyTee(f): 8:44pm On Aug 14
Thank you for sharing. If I get you right, all you had to do was validate her NIN. Can I ask if the process of validating the NIN links it to NIS database or you had to do that separately too?
Peerielass:

I had a similar issue a few years ago with my daughter’s passport application in Ikoyi. It took a while for her NIN to drop, so they couldn’t issue her passport. I had to expedite it through one of my contacts before the NIN was eventually validated and linked to NIS database. Passport was issued a week later.

Yes, she has.
Lexusgs430:

I presume your daughter already did all her biometric capturing.........

Thank you. Going back to London from Scottish Island is expensive and time comsuming. I have tried to contact them via emaol and pjone no luck. This is tiring really.

I did log into the NIMC app and everything appears fine.

Solumtoya:

You'd hardly find someone with this experience, I try to ensure the NIN is validated and all done before proceeding for biometrics just to avoid going to London twice.

Do the Validation first, it takes 24hrs or so, then wait a little bit and you might have to go back to London to prompt them.

You can spend your money. You just need 1250 to enter the account
acosfd:
Good morning my good people

To all the switching gurus

Please how long do I need leave my £1250 in the natwest account. Can I pay the money into the natwest account today and transfer to another account the following day, or does it have to be the account for a specific period?

Nothing much. Passport, my bank statement and letter of invitation. I bought a returned ticket as I heard my parent would be denied entry without it.

Please did you get the tickets after the visa approval? I applied for my sister and mum. I and my other sister invited them individually.

All you need is your CAS (the issued by the uni)

As matter of urgency, I want to confirm if this action can fly . I want to switch from tier 4 Visa to tier 2 skilled worker visa. Is it necessary or is part of requirements to show proof of English for the tier 2 visa application. I have done with my Msc program, however I can't get my certificate because of outstanding school fees. I owed school 2k, this will be paid as soon as possible but not in plan for now. I want to submit the tier 2 application form now and the company is expecting me to resume 1st of July. Please foks I need your advice.

I absolutely forgot I've been collecting avios and saw someone's comment about using it to book flight.

That post came at the right time as I just used mine for 5 days hotel booking for summer holiday.

Anyone need AMEX referral link, use mine please. Make we both collect avios. You get 8,000 and I'll get 4,000.

You will have to take your child for physical biometric captruring.
Theadoredone:
Hello Hello my people! smiley

Please has anyone recently extended/renewed a Skilled Worker Dependant child Visa (Under 9 years old) within the UK?

Did you have to take your child (ren) physically to a Biometric center in the UK or were you able to use the App for Biometrics?

My husband and I were able to use the Biometrics App for ours but I'm wondering if it'll be the same for children or they'll just ask us to upload documents and that'll be all..

This information will be really helpful in planning but I can't seem to find a specific answer on the gov.uk website.

Many thanks my people

If you have a saving accoutn with chase, you have to close it before the switch can happen.

I switched chase to first direct
hustla:

So the normal current account one wont come with payments right?

Looks like Chase cant be switched for Firstdirect

Travel / Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by CheesyTee(f): 12:02pm On May 11, 2023
Depends on the account type you open
hustla:

Heard there are caveats to it and monthly Payments to make. How true is this pls?

That's the reason why I haven't tried to make the switch

Looking to switch my starling

I dont knowabout Lloyds but you download First Direct bank app, open an account with them.

You then switch one of your current account. Pay in £1000+ to your new account after the switch is complete and wait for the bonus to be paid
lightofjoy:
Pls how did you do it. What of someone using Lloyds. Thanks

Idan!!!

The switch process takes roughly a week, the you wait another week after meeting the criteria for switch bonus.

So anticipate about 2-3 weeks from switch to bonus credit
Phayie:

Can I switch to natwest this week and then close the natwest account and switch it to first direct next week

Yes, I switched my Starling to RBS and Chase to First Direct.
hustla:

shocked

Do they allow switch from starling bank / chase /monese?
Travel / Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by CheesyTee(f): 11:00pm On May 04, 2023
Download app (either RBS or NatWest), open account, then apply to switch your old account to them. Deposit £1250 into the account. You get credited with £200 within 7 days

Same process for First Direct. The only difference is you pay £1,000 within 60 days of opening account. You get £175 in 28 days...

Yeah, it affected my credit score, lost about 10 points but my credit score has gone back up and it's now higher than before (due to other factors like low credit utilisation, on-time payment, etc)
starboychan:

Abegi how una dey switch ? Me sef wan chop money .

Does switching affect credit score?

Hello gurus
Please is it normal for agent to give out house like this despite that I call their attention to it during the inspection?
I have not moved in yet and I plan to write and call them to do the needful.

Pls advise.

It's not. I was in a similar situation last year although, I didn't take any step aside contact LL but he didn't do anything. I later moved out cos the condition of the house was so poor but I was told I could have reported LL to the council.
