Apapa the little I know the better; For the knowledge itself is sickness; The enemy has sired a monster; and the monster, monsters of queasiness; They've consumed the quaint seaside scenery; And have laid eggs of eerie; Some tall, some short; Some amorphous, some with form; Apapa is now the monstress; Apapa is now the sickness; For every dream she takes, she gives a pipe; And some bottles beside, how kind; The virtuous woman is a rare sight at night; For here the time is never ripe; For what? For the maladies of greed to cease; She has opened her doors wide and she beckons; Like a prostitute, but is she not? Her customers are the sons of Adam, the very heirs; Heirs to the corruption but does she care? No! She cares not, nor does she fear; How her children fare; Let them violate them in public glare; None let them spare; Black and white they troop in; With mouths that can only suck in; Someday when the milk dries up; Someday when she's old and used up; What's going to happen to the widows and orphans? A question for the monsters; Oh but monsters they are; They'll just find another Apapa. NSEfresher:. NSEfresher:I'm not sure I'm the person you should be asking that, I suck at commitments, but maybe you should come out clean with her. Let her know that you know what she's doing and you're not cool with it. Personally I would tell her this " I L*** you but you're not irreplaceable." It's time you boys wake up and recognize the fact that we're the fewer gender. PS: I'm sorry I can't use the L word, that word is just too strong and sacred for me" 1 Like |

Don't get married it's bad for you! lol, just kidding. just be realistic you know your financial position better, try and make a budget, a small wedding wouldn't hurt anybody, is your wife to be working? you guys can work something out. It's not really a big problem all it needs is just PRUDENT PLANNING. |

CountDracula:honestly, I think its a moral crime, these people need jobs, food, shelter, power, education etc that's what they should be sharing. I'm not speaking in support of any political party cos they've all deprived us of the aforementioned dividends of democracy and as a result we've become shallow-minded and desperate, so, yes we will take the money even if its 5 naira, after all they've left us hungry and homeless, but that does not mean they're right. 1 Like |

I remember when we were all clamoring for more women involvement in running this country, but after seeing Pathiefcia Etteh, Stella Odua, Diezani (in my opinion, the biggest female thief in the history of this country) and now Okonjo(somebody i used to respect), I bet we now have a change of heart. These women are even bigger thieves I don't want to sound chauvinistic bit this is the only situation, where i believe the common saying "where a man can steal, a woman will steal better". 1 Like |

I can't help but wonder whether humanity would have been better off without religion. False religions in my opinion have done us more harm than good |

cheeky bastard! a certain political party indeed. PS: this is not an insult, just complimenting your ability to hide the obvious. cos people on nairaland take things too serious. |

Nice write up, good to know that you no longer hate ' eveything about America'. The truth is, Americans are not the ones with the problem and certainly not America. The problem lies in the superficial front and the ignominous display of supereority that is common to people who have adopted America as their home. It is true that Americans are broad-minded individuals, but that is their culture and they defend it with vigor and fervour. What have we done to our own culture? Vilify it, vituperate it, vehemently berate it, that's what we've done with it. That is not an American problem, it is the problem of shallow minded individuals. It is not only an 'Indian problem', it is an African problem, in fact, it is a Nigerian problem. As an African, I can't seem to get the Hamitic theory out of my head, can we really do without the validation of the west? No is the answer, for many of us slavery will never end, we can't even run an election in an acclaimed independent country without America sending their SOS to tell us what to do, even though they've completely neglected us during these tough times. That is a topic for another day tho, but for now you are now one of those supercilious family members living in America to some young brilliant girl in India. It is a perpetual cycle with no end in sight. When we get the validation that we so obsessively crave though totally unnecessary, we feel a step above highlighting an unfortunate reality, for many Africans, slavery will never end. Call it foreboding, but there are two types of people in Africa, those who will be killed by America and her friends, and those who will die complaining about it. 3 Likes |

Is it too much to ask for a little respite; Or is this end inevitable; Can a wrong life be lived right; Or am i stuck with this riddle; This land, this skin and it's price; This life in shackles; Eyes for darkness, oh lightless nights; Hope dies with the candle; Let the bark and the bite arise; Let them wither his frail mind little by little; Oh dear! grant him some respite; Or is this end inevitable? 1 Like |

prof800: toluxe0075:i highlighted that point too " unless it's an alternative version and not theoriginal bible stories)", however i feel some of these variations were unnecessary and convoluted. Rather than add to the fun they ended up sapping the flavor. |

We all love a good story, and it is safe to say that Hollywood represents the biggest collection of elite storytellers that we have around. Last year Darren Aronofsky and Ridley Scott decided to tell two powerful bible stories and it got a lot of theatre enthusiasts wagging their tongues (myself inclusive). However, it also awakened a certain part of the population, dormant for a reason. This group of people have been left disappointed many times by Hollywood's apparent ignorance and nonchalance, the Evangelical Christians. It was a precarious marriage, but if both parties could play their part, it could work. From a commercial standpoint, more eyes meant more money and the people of faith would not mind that relaxing break at the theatre, watching some of their favorite stories on the big screen. I wanted the movies to be good, this world needed a reminder that divine intervention is irreplaceable, maybe we can cut back on some aimless pursuits if we agree that the solution to our problems will come from a divine source. Ladies and gentlemen, it is 2015, and some of us can't yet wrap our heads around what we saw at the cinemas last year. It was a show of shame, an apparent disregard for history and the Bible, a catastrophe in storytelling ( unless it's an alternative version and not the original bible stories). They were inaccurate and boring, the original story had spark, talented directors could see and harness such spark. Here are some of the bizarre variations: NOAH: Noah taking drugs( or whatever that was) to communicate with God, Noah's sons left without wives, the bad guy on board, fallen stonelike angels( Bible record shows that they slept with our women, I'm not sure they did it looking like that). etc Exodus: Moses is a sword-wielding general who later becomes a renegade leading a group of insurgents, Pharaoh lives!, God depicted as an ill tempered boy. etc We have learnt our lessons, we have been reminded of the reason Hollywood should stick to their cleverly contrived fantasies and artfully concocted adventures. It is true that the bible is not a story book,it does not have a blue eyed Christian Bale or even a deranged Russell Crowe, but when it comes to telling Bible stories nobody does it better. So, the next time you feel like seeing a biblical story, read the Bible.

From a motivational and sentimental perspective, I would say, don't give up , everything is possible. However, that's not the reality, the course of wisdom would be to pick up your student handbook ( if you have one), if not, get a list of all your courses from year one to your final year, then apart from the results you've seen, imaginarily allot grade A to all other courses and then calculate the final gp, if is 4.5 and above, then your question is answered , but again, that is a paradisaic or ideal condition. So do it again but this time be realistic, consider your abilities, potential, goals and limitations and allot grades realistically and check the final gp, run as many permutations as you want, until you get the desired model, be cautious however, this is just a mathematical model, nobody knows tomorrow. I find her story hard to believe, I know we have ignorant people in Nigeria, but it's not like they can't tell the difference between the fiction they see on tv and reality, unless she's just messing with her, but again, what do I know? |
