Seun:
Personally, I am a very liberal person. I hate censorship. However, there is a factor I can't discuss openly pushing us to do this.
Seun, there's nothing to hide. Google (Adsense) is clearly pushing you. The moment the ads are gone from your site, you start running around. I can understand that. It happens to everyone, including me. You should get a business model away from Adsense. Nairaland is big enough for you to successful in almost anything you want to get into. It's just an advise because as long as this is a forum (Not a site where you publish all contents) you and adsense will always be in a fight. Why not just start your own Ad Network?

oyb: i actually prefer large denomination notes for ease of management. try with drawing 300k from a bank in 1000 notes. my ofice is a walk from the bank - you will leave with a big bulge in your pocket which is a thief magnet

Obviously that money is most expected to land in some other account. What happened to using Internet Bank Transfer or Funds Transfer from the banks?
This is just a silly move to revert bank to a "CASHFUL SOCIETY". angry

Ok... I'll check on this on the next service... but I hope it doesn't mean the airbags are no longer functional.

Car Talk / Re: What To Do When Your Brakes Fail? by cmon(m): 4:11pm On Aug 09, 2012
Jarus:
This worries me. Recently my car has been making some noise anytime I match brake while driving it out of my compound early in the morning after being parked overnight. It then stops after few meters of driving. My thought has been that this is caused by the waterlogged road in my area. Any contrary view?

This is a normal noise... it should be a squiling noice .... This particular noise sounding even after a long drive and you'll be embarrassed like you're trying to stop a tractor.... the noise is not pleasant so you should be fine.
Car Talk / Re: What To Do When Your Brakes Fail? by cmon(m): 1:46am On Aug 09, 2012
Siena: With a manual, you can shift into the lowest possible speed, and let the clutch out. That will pretty much slow the car down enough to stop. Engine braking.

With an auto, not much you can do, if you downshift, and the car's going quite fast, the transmission will most likely hold the higher ratio, regardless of the position of the shift. Logic would suggest you slam the shift into P, but that's a risky move. If the driven wheels lock up suddenly, it's possible to roll the car, and of course the transmission will be destroyed.

Interesting. For the auto, what if you shift to neutral and apply the hand brakes?

A friend of mine was faced with this situation this morning while actually going to the mechanic to fix a noise he experienced when braking. Suddenly, the brakes failed. Lucky enough he was not on high speed and the uncoming traffic was free. He was able to swave into the opposite lane and applied the hand brake to put the car to a halt.

Car Experts, Is there any alternative for this situation?

Please specify for Manual and automatic vehicles.

Webmasters / Is Dealfish Dead? by cmon(m): 11:40pm On Aug 01, 2012
Considering the marketing aggressiveness dealfish started with, one would never think it will get to this. Dealfish.com.ng to changing to (What the hell is that?)

Anyway, that's the reality. Still wondering what happened. They used to maintain about 100000 fresh ads but now, it's down to 58000.... too bad. Does it mean classified ads don't work in nigeria or what really happened? undecided

LagBOOK - faceBOOK.... Must they use the "BOOK".
What's the difference anyway? undecided
Can they make me ditch facebook to join them?

Comparing Lagbook (a social network) to Nairaland (nigeria's information hub) is just dumb!

Anyway, it the struck me.... who really earns more from their website, Linda or Seun.... Even though Nairaland has more traffic, it really doesn't seem to match the revenue power of Linda Ikeji. Still wondering tho....

Osama10: It's not an issue at all.
Not an issue on what basis, that Nigerian Fuel is Premium Unleaded or that The Car uses Regular too.... Hope you know using the wrong fuel can knock an engine..
Car Talk / Are Suvs Using Premium Fuel Going To Be An Issue In Nigeria by cmon(m): 7:41pm On Mar 21, 2012
I'm thinking of purchasing an SUV pretty soon but from all the research I've been doing, the good ones all seem to require Premium Fuel with High Octane. I'm not sure nigeria has classification of fuel being sold so I'm asking, will these SUVs do well with the Nigerian Petrol. (Is Nigeria Selling Premium Petrol by Default?) or this is actually not an issue...

PapaBrowne: To all those complaining that the video doesn't match the song, or that it misses the African thingy, Do you really think you are the audience? The audience is well off kids in Europe, America and Asia who are willing to fork out $17-25 dolls on an album, not those 1 dollar bootlegs sold across Africa!!
Videos are marketing tools ang they are made micro targeted to specific audiences!! That beat is different. Those well off kids will definitely be banging their head to that, and if not anything else they would at least be rocking the Azonto dance that the white boy did in that video at the next sorority party!!

Car Talk / Re: When To Change Your Car Engine Oil: The Mileage Way! by cmon(m): 6:03pm On Mar 14, 2012
@sultaan, so what Engine Oil do you now recommend for a Camry 2003 and how long should it be used in your opinion.... I heard the Total brand states the mileage the oil can carry based on the numbers you see on the can. e.g Total 2000 will run 2000 miles, 4000 will run 4000 miles. What do you think?
Car Talk / Re: When To Change Your Car Engine Oil: The Mileage Way! by cmon(m): 11:16pm On Mar 13, 2012
Ok. I think I'll go with Vanasiro's 2k - 3k miles per oil. Thanks guys.
Car Talk / When To Change Your Car Engine Oil: The Mileage Way! by cmon(m): 6:51pm On Mar 13, 2012
Anytime I go to service my car, my mechanic is always saying I overused the oil because it always comes out black. Now he was the same person that told me to change my engine oil after every 3 months and that's exactly when I change it.

Ok. It's obvious the 3 months count is not at all a very efficient method to know when to change your oil so I want to fall back on using Mileage.

Does any one know the Mileage when I should change the engine oil for my Toyota 2003 Camry, using Mobile XHP 1000 by 4.

If there's a general mileage for all cars, also drop it here.

Thanks.

Business / Re: How Google Is Killing Nigerian Online Businesses by cmon(m): 10:58pm On Dec 09, 2011
In China, Google had issues simply because the Chinese government realized the dominance of google will make it impossible for her citizens(local businesses) to compete.

The bulk of their(Google) profit heads back to the US meaning we are literally contributing to the growth of their economy and killing ours. How do you guys expect DealDey, Tradestable or Nairalist to compete with Google trader. It is just impossible and this is the point where the government of Nigeria should interfere. We need our local businesses to grow first at home and then grow fast enough to export their products and services to other countries.

So for you guys saying Google isn't killing our web industry, y'all are a joke and need to wake up fast.

The most popular website in China is Baidu.com(a serch engine), google is fifth and Facebook isn't even in top 100. It is high time we woke and face reality, we stand lots more to loose if the Nigerian government doesn't interfere to rescue our local ecommerce businesses. Why must a local Nigerian business rely on Google(an American company) to market/advertise in Nigeria to Nigerians? Something isn't right, a Nigerian business should dominate that market. Do you guys ever think a Nigerian company can dominate any industry in the US even if it has the capacity? Shameful!

Fantastic, but will they implement? Even the Government officials don't know how to open their official emails. Mtchewwwwwww.
Car Talk / Re: Is It Normal To Drain Transmission Fluid (gearbox Fluid) Every 4 Months? by cmon(m): 10:30pm On Dec 09, 2011
Wonderful responses from you all. Una be bad guys  cool

I bought the car at 86k miles and now it's 89k miles. I'm not even thinking about touching it anymore.

When the mechanic starts talking about changing the oil, I'll just lecture him as you have all done. He'll be looking at me like one high tech car guy, not knowing it's the power of the internet.  grin

Thanks guys.
Car Talk / Is It Normal To Drain Transmission Fluid (gearbox Fluid) Every 4 Months? by cmon(m): 12:48am On Dec 09, 2011
A friend of mine recently changed the gear box of his 2001 toyota camry and was told it got bad because he wasn't regularly changing the transmission fluid. Initially I thought one only need to top up this fluid and not to change the entire thing. I've been using mine (toyota camry 2003) for 6 months now (since I bought the ride) and it's due for servicing again.

Is it normal to drain the entire fluid and replace it with new one as the mechanic is suggesting? Or really is it just a topping up stuff?

Auto experts, take this away.
