Politics / Re: Buhari Moves To Compensate Tinubu With Ministerial Position From Lagos, Others by Cortana2: 1:06pm On Dec 28, 2016
NFFGG:
*Buhari Moves to Compensate Tinubu With Ministerial Positions from Ondo, Kogi And Lagos

Investigation revealed that President Buhari on Friday took a drastic step to resolve crisis between him and the national leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

It was revealed that the president will reshuffle his cabinet next year which will affect Ondo, Kogi and Lagos State whereby Tinubu 's loyalists will be appointed as the new ministers in the affected states mentioned. It was part of the plans designed by the president to pacify Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu so that the chances of the president in winning the presidential election in 2019 will be high.

The source said: ‘’Dr Olusegun Abraham will replace Professor Claudius Omoyele Daramola, who is from Ondo state and
have been somewhat invisible in the Federal Executive Council but he (Abraham) will be given a better portfolio.’’

Professor Daramola is the current minister of state for Niger Delta.

He continued: ‘’Faleke will replace the late Ocholi as the Kogi state minister while Edun will replace Fashola, who Buhari is now considering to appoint as the SGF following the scandal Babchir Lawal is currently enmeshed in.’’

Another source who confirmed the new development said, ‘’Baba (Buhari) knows Tinubu is an asset and he cannot toy with him politically especially now that 2019 is running nearer.

‘’He is well aware that these South-West politicians parading themselves as political heavyweights in Abuja do not have any structure in their home states.
.
My take!

Politicians have started calculating towards 2019 as at now. These people have forgotten what the Bible say about taking thought of tomorrow. The president is planning to recontest in 2019 when his people are under pains and agony due economic recession and broken promises. The situation is so worst to the extent that people that even have money in banks cannot get their cash due to CBN inability to release money to commercial banks. Yet, the same government has started singing the songs of 2019 presidential election. It is well even inside the well without water.

Religion / Re: Why Don’t Jehovah’s Witnesses Celebrate Christmas? by Cortana2: 1:27pm On Dec 25, 2016
Browsenigeria:
Common misconceptions
Myth: The reason why Jehovah’s Witnesses do not celebrate Christmas is that they do not believe in Jesus.

Fact: We are Christians. We believe that salvation comes only through Jesus Christ.—Acts 4:12.

Myth: You divide families by teaching members not to celebrate Christmas.

Fact: We care deeply about families, and we use the Bible to help build stronger families.

Myth: You miss out on the “Christmas spirit” of generosity, peace on earth, and goodwill toward men.

Fact: We strive to be generous and peaceable every day. (Proverbs 11:25; Romans 12:18) For example, the way we conduct our meetings and preach is in harmony with Jesus’ instruction: “You received free, give free.” (Matthew 10:cool In addition, we direct attention to God’s Kingdom as the true hope for peace on earth.—Matthew 10:7.

Why don’t Jehovah’s Witnesses celebrate Christmas?
Jesus commanded that we commemorate his death, not his birth.—Luke 22:19, 20.
Jesus’ apostles and early disciples did not celebrate Christmas. The New Catholic Encyclopedia says that “the Nativity feast was instituted no earlier than 243 [C.E.],” more than a century after the last of the apostles died.
There is no proof that Jesus was born on December 25; his birth date is not recorded in the Bible.
We believe that Christmas is not approved by God because it is rooted in pagan customs and rites.—2 Corinthians 6:17.
Why make Christmas an issue?
Many still celebrate Christmas despite knowing about its pagan roots and lack of support from the Bible. Such persons could ask: Why should Christians take such an unpopular stance? Why make it an issue?

The Bible encourages us to think for ourselves, to use our “power of reason.” (Romans 12:1, 2) It teaches us to value the truth. (John 4:23, 24) So while we are interested in how others view us, we adhere to Bible principles even if it means that we become unpopular.

Although we choose not to celebrate Christmas ourselves, we respect each person’s right to decide for himself in this matter. We do not interfere in the Christmas celebrations of others.

It is in this area only that the two great rivals JW and DL agree, albeit slightly.

i am still very young.. in my late teens now...the last out of six siblings...done with secondary school....bt couldn't further because of finance....

right now tho...the last thing on my mind is furthering my education ...thing is...i see it as a waste of time and money...even though i intend going back...bt that will be when i have made some cool cash...

so...for at least two years since i rapped up secondary school...i have been working as a sales person for people...with few ups and downs once in a while...

then...the opportunity to join the Nigerian police came...right at the peak of a frustrating time...so i thought less before registering for constable cadre....went through all the processes...and now am selected...#do note that i did this with little or no help from anyone...so i think the selection this time is on merit#

bt the problem now is that...i have a bigger dream...i intend going into business if my brother will help...the NPF..tho is good bt..then wont give me the financial buttress that i aim for...

their salary scale is quite poor...imagine making sales of eighty thousand naira in 3days for my present boss...thats like the salary of an inspector...and we all know how long it takes to get to this rank....17 to 20 yrs.. just to be paid that amount...its quite dis-heartening... i blv starting a business will be more fruitful than joining the force...

bt on the other hand...i have no serious capital to start a business and i dont know if my brothers will be willing to support me financially...am quite skeptical about that...

so thats were the confusion sets in...i might reject the offer and my brothers may later disappoint me...i might take the job...bt will not be fulfilled knowing i would have been making much more money doing business.....

pls what is the best thing to do on this issue ??
am terribly confused

I'd advise you go into business. It may be rough at first, but you'll definitely make good progress. If you however decide to join the NPF, getting out may become a difficult thing to do.

You are obviously one of the people wishing, hoping it crashes. Please, show me just 1, not 2, just 1 participant that has something wrong to say about mmm. I started 3 months ago. Have made over 150k. I PH now with 100k every month. Now tell me, even if it crashes, yes I wont be happy to loose my money, buh I can confidently say I have gained more than I have lost.

Life is a risk. No one is forced to participate and there is a warning boldly written, use only your spare cash.

Now answer me this, how am I being selfish?

Answer these questions first.

1. Why did Russia ban MMM?
2. That 30% you people get on your 'investment', where does it come from really?
3. What other investment do you know in the world that pays a whooping 30% just after 3 months?
4. Do you know what a ponzi scheme is?
5. When this thing finally fall through, do you know you the investors will be partly responsible for whatever happens to those who promoted this illegality.

It is not. Someone should please create a new topic and enlighten all our intelligent ignoramus how MMM works. I notice that all those that have something wrong to say simply dont know anything about the scheme.

So when I loan someone money to start a business and ask him to pay me back in 3 months, the interest I collect is a sin cos I earned it by doing nothing?

Nobody is been cheated. All participants smile after 30 days. Tuesdays and thursdays have become the best days of all participants. Why is all the focus on mmm?

Some peeps that are not participating are anxiously waiting to tell mmm participants, I told you it will crash and now it has buh sadly, that day will never come.

My only regret is not starting MMM earlier.

You're being selfish. Not all participants are going to smile eventually. Some are going to commit suicide after the ponzi scheme falls through; it will one day, and you won't be guitless when it finally does.

A lot of women in their early twenties with career and and a barrel of feminism to carry opt out of having kids, but the end story always seems to be the same. Old, lonely in a senior people's home and wondering what it would just have been like to have a kid and have someone other than the priest and busy friends at your funeral. There's a reason the holy book asked the woman to be fruitful, there's a reason evolutionists hinge on the continuity of a species. The whole purpose of our existence as humans boils down to simply continuing the human race, and when we disobey our very our evolutionary genetic code, we are sentenced to emotional hell, doomed to roam the river Styx never reaching the gate of Hades.

I understand also that women who refuse to breastfeed their kids are more likely to develop breast cancer. This whole matter is so similar to the case of the Dead Sea which receives but never gives out.

Very normal reactions. I know of a lady who had only one child and was too traumatised for the next 5 years and refused to have any more kids till that child was about 15. Her husband supported her and now they have a 2nd little child, well into their 40s and are happier and relaxed. I'm seeing more single-child families, parents flatly refusing to have more and the decision having nothing to do with Health. Not everyone is cut out for Parenting and we keep forcing it on people, then turn around and wonder why we have so many damaged individuals being churned out by such a so-called Family oriented society like Nigeria. And those damaged individuals go on to marry...

Anyone from a good home will hardly ever object to the merits of having children.

Anyone from a religious background will hardly ever object to the blessedness of obeying the divine injunction to populate the earth.

Anyone with love in his/her heart will hardly object to the joy and privilege of holding a life formed right there in the womb.

Except for health reasons and so on, I see it as selfishness for anyone to decide he/she doesn't want any children. My opinion, please.

Family / Parents Who Regret Having Children by Cortana2: 2:53pm On Dec 06, 2016
French author Corinne Maier has two children but can't wait for the youngest to leave home, saying they have left her "exhausted and bankrupt". Her attack on "idealising parenthood" struck a chord with many mothers and fathers around the world. Here are some of their comments - followed by the responses from others who completely disagreed.

REGRETS
It's good to know I'm not the only one who has felt empty being a mom. While I love my two children very much, I feel today I should never have had them. Not only are they expensive, but to raise children comes at a cost to career advancement unless women wait until they are over 35. There are so many reasons to feel joy in being a mom, but I feel exhausted and unfulfilled. Alex, San Antonio.

I've never been someone who's good with kids... and I'm still not. My child is six now and I still find it hard to relate to him and his friends. A whole lot of the time, I just don't like being a mother, and I generally don't fit well into this role. I feel like an outcast among all the school mums who are so actively involved. Anonymous, Cologne.

It is difficult to say I regret having children because I love them. But, on balance, if I could turn back the clock and tell myself what it is like, I'm not sure I'd bother having any. It's only "wonderful" a very small proportion of the time. Without them I'd have money, freedom and far less worry. Mary, Edinburgh.

Having been brought up in a broken home, I had always dreamed of a large family. I have been blessed with a wonderful husband and three (I'm stuck for the right adjective) children. But never before has the expression "be careful what you wish for" been so poignant. As I write this my daughter is hanging around my neck. I can't even go to the bathroom without hearing screaming and fighting and the word "mamma" screeching through my "loving" home. Christmas is coming and instead of feeling excitement, I feel like getting on a plane with my husband and going anywhere at all with a one-way ticket. Just to get to know him again. We're too exhausted to even laugh these days. And as I'm writing this I'm feeling guilty because I should be grateful. I should be adding some grateful phrase like "it's hard but worth it". But I can't. Because I don't know if it is. Andrea, Italy.

I'm now 50 and broke. Thankfully just financially because I kept my sanity and life intact despite the children. Motherhood definitely isn't for everyone and just because we have the equipment doesn't mean to say we have the disposition. I gave everything I could, did everything I needed to but was it a "joy"? No. If I had my time again I would never have children. Joy, Bath.

Bringing up the modern-day child has left my husband and I exhausted - and it does not stop at childhood, they are still a worry at the age of 24 and 26. We tried so hard to make them independent but we failed. They live away from us but we are still at the end of a line, on call 24 hours a day! I love them both of course but if I turned back the clock I would not have children. Jennifer, Hertfordshire.

MIXED FEELINGS
I adore parenthood, warts and all. However, strange to say it is not something I wish for my children. The world is a very different place and is changing in a way that you can have a great life without the sanctity of marriage and family unit. You can be happy and fulfilled without too much commitment to looking after others. A pet and lots of friends, a good job will about do it for the next Western generation. Jean, Troon.

I have two boys and I love them to no end until the tiredness catches up and the daily noise doesn't seem to stop. I used to be patient and had a functioning brain. That seems to have disappeared. It's all about schedules, naps, food, clothing, tidying, playgrounds, the right upbringing, the right toys, what to say and what not to say, trying not to take things personally. When it's tough I would like the no-kid-life, but when you get a hug or a kiss or they do something great for the first time I wouldn't give it up for the world. Anja, Maastricht.

In Norway getting children is even more the single most important aspect of one's life than in other European countries. Getting married is anyway more or less seen as a temporary state but family and children stay. My husband and I had a wonderful relationship with nice, fulfilling sex and a lot of common interests. Now we are parents, we are stressed all the time, fatter than before and have very little time for each other. We are too drenched to please each other in most aspects any more. We do love our two boys very much and are happy when they are. But we have in a way disappeared. Mette, Akerhus.

NO REGRETS
Having children is the best thing that ever happened to me. It is also hard work. I don't know where anyone would get the idea that being a parent is an easy job that results in instant happiness. Being happy under any circumstances is something you have to work for over the long term. Brian, Ohio.

I cannot imagine being childless. As an introvert, they kept me engaged with the world through their teachers, coaches and other parents. I remember telling my mother that we were waiting until we could afford to have a child. She said, "if you wait until you can afford one, you will never have any." We have children and grand-children because they reintroduce to the wonders of nature and they have a unique perspective that delights us. Karen, Virginia.

With the right partner parenthood is pure bliss. We have five and wish we had more. Yes children are work but we have had time to do many other things by trading off responsibilities between us. I find that parenthood is like everything else - it can be seen as a problem or a challenge towards growth. We have grown so much and learned so much by being with our children. Gloria, Sola.

Having a child has made me into a more socially and environmentally engaged person. I wrote my son a book, which I sent to an agent, and a few years later I find myself a children's writer with several books under my belt. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have done that if I hadn't had him. We've even done a bit of world travelling - I took him to Australia when he was three. He was the best travelling companion, he helped me meet a lot of people. He brought me out of myself. And he teaches me stuff about space and black holes and the natural world (his heroes are David Attenborough and Stephen Hawking!) I'm more interested in science now. I'm more interested in everything in fact. Sam, Worthing.

I raised two children in Japan. Yes, it cost a lot in terms of money and time, but I was nevertheless able to maintain a reasonably successful academic career. Children just made me more organised. In intangible ways, my children have given back at least as much as they were given, and continue to do so in their adult lives. They both have careers in medicine, and contribute huge amounts to the well-being of society. Rather than being "little consumers", they are instead "great contributors," Bob, Tokyo.

I'm proud to be a mum - having a child and looking after them is a pleasure and my kids are now in the university and more independent. I can't wait for them to have their own so I can look after them. Putting the effort in to educating kids and showing them right from wrong is emotionally rewarding. They will grow up strong and appreciate the effort. Ghada, Enfield.

My children gave me a reason to live and to fight when I lost my husband and was myself going to die of cancer. I now live with my grandchildren, one of them quite handicapped with autism, and that boy is the motor for my new start in life. Thanks to him I started a successful music school, he is my main student, and working with him daily as I teach him to play the violin is the most fulfilling experience I could ever have. It is a sad day for the future of our society when mothers cease to believe in and value motherhood. Without children, there is no future in this world. Jacoline, Geneva

Legend has it that the inventor of the game called chess was told to name his own reward. His reply was along this lines.

Imagine a chess board.

Suppose one grain of corn is placed on the first square.
2 grains on the second
4 grains on the third,
8 grains on the fourth,

and so on until you get to the 64th square.

I would like as many grains of corn as the chess board now carries.

Politics / BBC World Service To Launch Igbo, Yoruba And Nigerian Pidgin Service by Cortana2: 8:18am On Nov 16, 2016
The BBC World Service will launch 11 new language services as part of its biggest expansion "since the 1940s", the corporation has announced.

The expansion is a result of the funding boost announced by the UK government last year. The new languages will be Afaan Oromo, Amharic, Gujarati, Igbo, Korean, Marathi, Pidgin, Punjabi, Telugu, Tigrinya, and Yoruba. The first new services are expected to launch in 2017.
"This is a historic day for the BBC, as we announce the biggest expansion of the World Service since the 1940s," said BBC director general Tony Hall.

"The BBC World Service is a jewel in the crown - for the BBC and for Britain. "As we move towards our centenary, my vision is of a confident, outward-looking BBC which brings the best of our independent, impartial journalism and world-class entertainment to half a billion people around the world. Today is a key step towards that aim."

The plans include the expansion of digital services to offer more mobile and video content and a greater social media presence.
Where are they spoken?

The African languages

Afaan Oromo - Widely spoken in Ethiopia and in some parts of Kenya, Somalia and Egypt.
Amharic - Ethiopia's other main tongue and the official language of its government and Orthodox church.
Tigrinya - The main working language of Eritrea, along with Arabic. Also spoken in parts of Ethiopia.
Igbo - An official Nigerian language. Also spoken in Equatorial Guinea.
Yoruba - Spoken in south-western Nigeria and some other parts of West Africa, especially Benin and Togo.
Nigerian Pidgin - A creole version of English spoken across West Africa but particularly in the Niger Delta.

On Wednesday the BBC launches a full digital service in Thai, following the success of a Facebook-only "pop-up" service launched in 2014.
Other expansion plans include: extended news bulletins in Russian, with regionalised versions for surrounding countries
enhanced television services across Africa, including more then 30 new TV programmes for partner broadcasters across sub-Saharan Africa
new regional programming from BBC Arabic short-wave and medium-wave radio programmes aimed at audiences in the Korean peninsula, plus online and social media content investment in World Service English, with new programmes, more original journalism, and a broader agenda

Fran Unsworth, the BBC's World Service director, said: "Through war, revolution and global change, people around the world have relied on the World Service for independent, trusted, impartial news.
"As an independent broadcaster, we remain as relevant as ever in the 21st Century, when in many places there is not more free expression, but less.

"Today's announcement is about transforming the World Service by investing for the future.

Since A and T are on the circumference, that means u can draw two radii from them to meet at the centre which will form diametre. And if you get diameter from AT, that means angle ABT is right-angled and that settles it.

The one at T will be form a right angle with the radius but the one at A will not. Remember the theorem says: A tangent to a circle is perpendicular to the radius drawn to its point.
