The Nigerian Army has announced the upward review of Ration Cash Allowance for its personnel, Sahara Reporters is reporting.

The RCA takes care of the feeding of Nigerian military personnel in lieu of “central feeding”. In the signal exclusively obtained by Sahara Reporters, the army said the move was sequel to the recent removal of fuel subsidy by the Nigerian government which had caused increment in prices of goods and services across the country.

The signal was dated July 28 and signed by E.E. Emekah, a Major General on behalf of the Chief of Army Staff.

The Federal Government has just approved the payment of N25,000 of peculiar allowance for medical doctors and dentists in hospitals, medical centres, and clinics in the federal public service.

This approval was contained in a letter dated July 26, 2023, titled ‘Accoutrement allowance for medical and dental doctors in hospitals, medical centres, and clinics in federal MDAs’.

The letter was signed by the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the commission, Ekpo Nta.

“The Federal Government has approved the payment of an Accoutrement allowance of twenty-five naira (N25,000.00) per quarter to Medical and Dental Doctors in hospitals, medical centres, and clinics in the Federal Public Service. The allowance is to be paid from the overhead budget.

Lady reportedly beaten to death by clubbers for picking money sprayed in a nightclub, body thrown in a swimming pool In Anambra state.


A young lady identified as miss, Chinyere Awuda has been reportedly beaten to death with her corpse thrown in a swimming pool by group of clubbers in a nightclub for picking money sprayed.

Following reports from Uloka Chibuike on Twitter, the deceased was at Club Mila, a nightclub owned by Cosmila Hotels in Awka, Anambra State, where all of a sudden a man identified as Mr Gabriel Chinemere and his friends who are believed to be clubbers, started beating Miss Chinyere Awuda mercilessly which eventually lead to her death.

Young man who killed his girlfriend during a fight has ran out to confess.

Instagram influencer Austa, also known as austa_xxo, Was stabbed to death by her 26 years old boyfriend, Killaboigram, in his apartment in Lagos.

There will be anarchy in Nigeria if you nullify my election — Pres. Tinubu warns tribunal


The president, Bola Tinubu has reportedly warned that nullifying the February 25 election that produced him as president could result in absurdity, anarchy and chaos.

According to him, his failure to secure 25% of the lawful votes in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) is not a sufficient reason to nullify his presidency.

President Tinibu presented his arguments in a final written address to the Presidential Election Petition Court (PREPEC), responding to two petitions filed by candidates from the Labour Party (LP) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), challenging the validity of his victory.

“Any other interpretation different from this will lead to absurdity, chaos, anarchy and alteration of the very intention of the legislature,” Tinubu’s lawyers led by Wole Olanipekun warns.

The lawyers were specifically addressing a section of the Nigerian Constitution that said a presidential candidate must score 25 per cent of votes in two-thirds of Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

Recall that Tinubu won the highest number of votes in a three-way presidential race in February but failed to score 25 per cent in the FCT.

Following reports from the Peoples Gezatte, the lawyers said: “Our courts have always adopted the purposeful approach to the interpretation of our Constitution, as exemplified in a host of decisions.

“Even if there was no election in one State (including the FCT), or even if the election of a State/States (including the FCT) is/are voided, the entire election cannot be voided or canceled, they argued.

In concluding our arguments on this issue, we urge the court to hold that any election where the electorate exercise their plebiscite, there is neither a ‘royal’ ballot nor ‘royal’ voter; and that residents of the FCT do not have any special voting right over residents of any other State of the federation, in a manner similar to the concepts of preferential shareholding in Company Law.

The federal government has filed a two-count charge of illegal processions of firearm and ammunition against suspended Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele before the Federal High Court in Lagos.

The federal government in the charge sheet, accused Emefiele of possessing a single- barrel shotgun (JOJEFF MAGNUM 8371) without a license.

FG maintained that the offences are contrary to section 4 of the Firearms Act Cap F28 Laws of the Federation 2004 and punishable under Section 27 (1b) of the same Act.

On the second charge sheet, the suspended CBN Governor was accused of having in his possession 123 rounds of live ammunition (Cartridges) without a licence, which is contrary to section 8 of the Firearms Act Cap F28 Laws of the Federation 2004 and punishable under Section 27 (1) (b) (il) of the same Act.

Although the case is yet to be assigned to a judge.

A Nigerian man studying abroad has been found dead in his apartment after failing to show up for work.

The deceased identified as Mr Opeyemi Adedipe Emmanuel, was a student of MSc Data Science at the School of Computing and Communications, Lancaster University.

He was reported dead by his colleague, one Mr max Obasi via a post on Twitter, according to statement posted by Mr Obasi, the deceased was found dead in his apartment after failing to show up for work.

He wrote “ Sad News: I have just received the unfortunate news that a Nigerian student studying MSc Data Science at the School of Computing and Communications, Lancaster University, Mr. Opeyemi Adedipe (Emmanuel) died while participating in a summer work placement at the Centre for Ecology & Hydrology in Oxfordshire.

“Emma and I spoke not too long ago. He was fine, showed no sign of ailment. He even spoke to friends and family on the eve of his death. There was no sign that he was sick. His body was found lifeless in his flat after he failed to show up for work. President of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been unanimously chosen to lead the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) as its next chairman.

Miss Joy Mmesoma Ejikeme, After finally admitting to forging her 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) result, Innoson Vehicles has withdrawn the N3 million scholarship initially awarded to her.

Anambra committee of inquiry also revealed that her Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) result was forged.

According to reports, the panel released its findings on Friday, stating that Mmesoma admitted that she manipulated her UTME scores.

Following a statement issued on Saturday, the head of corporate communications, Innoson Vehicles, Cornel Osigwe, said the company made the “difficult decision” to withdraw the scholarship “in response to the confirmed findings”.

“For some days, we have been involved in the process of investigating allegations surrounding the 2023 UTME examination results of one of our scholarship recipients, Miss Joy Mmesoma Ejikeme. It was reported initially that Miss Joy scored exceptionally high on the exam, a feat that led to her being awarded a scholarship by our company,” he said.

Mathematics teacher reportedly stung by a bee while preparing his students for Mock exams

It was an untamed situation at Sissala East Municipality of the Upper West Region of Ghana when bees invaded the school premises.

At least three persons including a father and daughter have been arrested by men of the police force in connection with the abduction of a Muslim cleric, Alhaji Ibra Alli Bodunde, in Ondo State.

The 67-year-old cleric, who is the Chief Imam of the Uso Community, in the Owo Local Government Area of the state, was kidnapped while working on his farm last month.

According to reports, he was released the following day after reportedly paying N2m ransom.

While Parading the suspects at the command headquarters in Akure, on Tuesday, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Funmilayo Odunlami, said the suspects were arrested following the prompt action of the operatives of the command.

The suspects include Muinah Mohammed, Aisha Bello and Isah Bello.

She stated that “On June 18, 2023, one Mrs Bodunde, around 6pm, went to the Uso Division to complain that her husband, Alli Bodunde, went to the farm and he was supposed to come back around 2pm but unfortunately when they did not see him, they sent two persons to the farm to look for him.

“When they got to the farm, they saw his car and his mobile phone but they could not see him. Immediately after the case was reported, the police operatives swung into action and at the end of the day, the man was released.

“But during the investigation, we realised that the man in question is the Chief Imam of the Uso community and through our intelligence team we were able to arrest the suspects,” she added.

Among the suspects, Isah Bello, said his accomplice, Mohammed, collected his SIM card from his daughter, Aisha, and the SIM card was used to call the victim’s family for negotiation for the ransom.

According to Bello, “My daughter (Aisha) came to me to collect my other SIM card from me. I asked what she wanted to use the SIM card for, and she didn’t give me any serious answer but since I don’t use the SIM card any longer, I gave it to her.

“I didn’t know what they used the SIM card for. I don’t know this boy (Mohammed). I didn’t know anything about the matter. I was not arrested, it was my people that told me about the matter, so I went to report myself at the Area Command office,” he said.

Point of Sale agents in Lagos State will soon begin to charge customers N500 for N10,000 cash withdrawals.

This is after the Association of Mobile Money and Bank Agents in Nigeria, Lagos Chapter, announced a new price list for POS transactions on Channels Television’s Business Morning programme by the Public Relations Officer, Lagos Chapter, Stephen Adeoye on Friday.

Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo has advised Anambra indigenes resident in Lagos to return home and invest in their own interest, saying that the state is ready for business.

Addressing them during a town hall meeting in Lagos, the governor reminded them that God did not make a mistake by making them Anambra people.


Enumerating the progress made so far by his administration after one year in office, Soludo urged them to reflect deeply and do everything humanly possible to be part of the growth of the state.

CBN reportedly makes social media handle mandatory KYC requirements for bank customers.

The CBN has released its Customer Due Diligence Regulations 2023 or financial institutions under its regulatory purview as it takes a decisive stance against financial crimes, Nairametrics is reporting.

The CBN’s latest move aims to bolster compliance with anti-money laundering & counter-terrorism financing provisions while aligning with international best practices.

In an effort to enhance the accuracy & depth of customer identification, the CBN has made it mandatory for financial institutions to collect and verify customers’ social media handles as part of their KYC requirements.

“Financial institutions operating under the regulatory purview of the CBN are now obligated to collect & verify customers’ social media handles as part of their KYC process.

This requirement applies to both individuals and legal entities. The inclusion of social media handles in KYC requirements aims to enhance the accuracy and depth of customer identification.

By obtaining this additional information, financial institutions can gain valuable insights into customers’ online presence and activities, enabling better assessment of potential risks associated with money laundering, terrorism financing, and proliferation financing,” the report said. Operatives of the Ilorin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, arraigned an Ilorin-based associate pastor of the Living Faith Church (aka Winners’ Chapel), Temidayo Eseyin, for allegedly defrauding Landmark University, Omu-Aran, Kwara State of N19.3million.

Eseyin, a lawyer and former member of the Disciplinary Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association, Ilorin Branch was docked on a four-count charge bordering on dishonest misappropriation of funds belonging to the University before Justice Funsho Lawal of the Kwara State High Court, Ilorin.


The defendant allegedly abused his position as Attorney to Landmark University, to cheat and defraud his client.

Specifically, the defendant, between 2014 and 2022 managed a property known as “Old Midland Building” belonging to Landmark University, situated along Emir’s/Obbo Road, Ilorin, which rent Mr. Eseyin collected for 8 years but could not account for the funds. He also allegedly attempted to sell the property without authorisation from the University.

Count 3 of the charge reads: “That you, Temidayo Eseyin sometime in the year 2021, in Ilorin Kwara State, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court dishonestly misappropriated the sum of Six Million, Sixty Four Thousand Naira Only (N6, 064,000) representing payment of rent on property known as Old Midland Building belonging to Landmark University and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 308 of the Penal Code Law and Punishable under Section 309 of the same Law.”

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Following his plea, counsel to the EFCC, Rashidat Alao, urged the court to fix a date for trial and remand the defendant pending trial.

However, Eseyin’s lawyer, Femi Makinde, moved an application for the bail of the defendant.

Justice Lawal admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N10 million with two sureties in the sum of N5 million each. DSS Warns Of Terrorist Attacks On Religious, Entertainment Venues


The Department of State Services (DSS) has issued a warning regarding potential attacks targeting places of worship and recreational facilities during the upcoming Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.

The agency highlighted the discovery of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) in the possession of terrorists during joint operations involving the DSS, Nigerian Army, and Police.

The discovery provided evidence of the planned attacks.

In an official statement released by the DSS Spokesperson, Peter Afunanya on Thursday, the agency urged the management of malls and other establishments to maintain a high level of vigilance and alertness.

“The DSS calls for vigilance before the Eid celebrations more so that reports had indicated plans to attack worship and recreational centres before and during the festivities.

“This is evident in the recovery of primed IEDs among the suspected terrorists.

“Operators and patrons of public places, including markets, malls, etc are advised to be watchful and report any suspicious movements and persons to the relevant security agencies.

The Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) has approved a 114 per cent increase in the salaries of elected politicians, including the President, vice president, governors, lawmakers as well as judicial and public office holders.

The commission urged the 36 states’ Houses of Assembly to hasten efforts on amendment of relevant laws to give room for upward review of remuneration packages for political, judicial and public officers.


According to NAN, the RMAFC Chairman, Muhammadu Shehu, represented by a federal commissioner, Rakiya Tanko-Ayuba, made the call at the presentation of reports of the reviewed remuneration package to Kebbi State governor, Dr Nasir Idris, on Tuesday in Birnin Kebbi.

He said the implementation of the reviewed remuneration packages was effective from January 1, 2023, adding that the move was in accordance with the provision of paragraph 32(d) of part 1 of the Third Schedule of the 1999 constitution of the federal government (as amended).

He said the last remuneration review was conducted in 2007, noting that it culminated in the “certain political, public and judicial office holders (salaries and allowances, etc) (Amendment) Act, 2008”.

Shehu said, “It empowers the revenue mobilisation, allocation and fiscal commission to determine the remuneration appropriate for political office holders, including the president, vice-president, governors, deputy governors, ministers, commissioners, special advisers, legislators and the holders of the offices mentioned in sections 84 and 124 of the constitution of the federal government.

“Sixteen years after the last review, it is imperative that the remuneration packages for the categories of the office holders mentioned in relevant sections of the 1999 constitution (as amended) should be reviewed, he added.

“Pursuant to the above, your excellency may please recall that on Wednesday, 1st February, 2023, the commission held a one-day zonal public hearing on the review of the remuneration package simultaneously in all the six (6) geo-political zones of the country. The aim of the exercise was to harvest inputs/ideas from a broad spectrum of stakeholders.”

He added that the commission had objectively and subjectively reviewed the salary packages in the reports, adding that it adheres to the rules of equity and fairness, risk and responsibilities, national order of precedence among others.

“The subjective criteria reflected the various expression by stakeholders through memoranda received, opinion expressed during the zonal public hearings and responses to questionnaires administered.

“The objectives of the criteria were obtained from analysis of macro-economic variables particularly the Consumer Price Index (CPI),” he said.

The chairman added that the commission was also guided by some principles, including equity and fairness; risk and responsibilities; national order of precedence; motivation and tenure of office.

The Department of State Services told the Federal Capital Territory High Court on Tuesday that suspended Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Godwin Emefiele, will flee the country if granted bail.

The Attorney General of the Federation also supported the argument of the DSS, describing Emefiele as a “flight risk.”

The former head of the apex bank is challenging his detention by the DSS and denying him seeing his family members and lawyers.

Recall reports that Emefiele was suspended by President Bola Tinubu and subsequently detained by the DSS on Saturday, June 10, 2023.

At the resumption of hearing on Tuesday, both DSS and OAGF stated these in separate counter-affidavits filed in a fundamental rights enforcement suit by the suspended CBN chief.

In its own affidavit, the OAGF dismissed the speculation that Emefiele was being held for terrorist-related crimes. It also said he was not being victimised for his involvement in politics and the botched naira redesign policy.

The OAGF said: “Issues of terrorism financing and fraudulent activities are not part of the grounds for the arrest and detention of the applicant.

“The respondents have not violated the applicant’s right to live in any way, his life is not in danger. The respondents did not subject the applicant to any judicial adjudication to warrant the allegation of denial of a fair hearing.

“With the remand order issued by a court of competent jurisdiction, the said violation of the applicant’s right to freedom of movement does not arise.

The respondents did not subject the applicant to any torture, the details of which have not been provided.”

The housing allowances for members of the National Assembly may cost the country about N5.87bn yearly, according to findings from The PUNCH.

With the annual allocation of N5.87bn, in four years the Federal Government will spend N23.48bn on the lawmakers’ accommodation.


The allowances are based on data collated from a document obtained from the website of the Revenue Mobilisation and Fiscal Allocation Commission.

It covers allowances for accommodation (200 per cent of basic salary), domestic staff (75 per cent of basic salary), utilities (30 per cent of basic salary), house maintenance (five per cent of basic salary), wardrobe (25 per cent of basic salary) and furniture (300 per cent of basic salary).

Also, although furniture allowance is usually paid once in four years for public office holders, the frequency of payment is not disclosed for members of the National Assembly.

From the total amount, the housing allowances of the Senators will cost about N1.38bn yearly.

The amount for the Senate President and Deputy Senate President was not disclosed by the RMAFC. Therefore, the amount covers only the allowances for the 107 senators.

A breakdown shows that N4.05m was allocated for accommodation, N1.52m for domestic staff, N607,920 for utilities, N101,320 for house maintenance, N506,600 for wardrobe allowance, and N6.08m for furniture allowance.

A KLM flight headed for the Netherlands made an emergency landing in Spain with an additional passenger on board after a woman unexpectedly went into labour.

According to Aviation24 on Tuesday, the incident happened early Monday morning when one of the passengers on KLM Flight 588, a Boeing 777, suddenly went into labour while flying from Lagos to Amsterdam in the Netherlands.

The woman, whose name has not been released, was reportedly taken to the front galley where she gave birth to a premature baby girl. The plane then made an emergency landing in Barcelona where medical staff were waiting.

Both mother and daughter were said to be doing well.

Tinubu to Merge Customs, NIMASA, FIRS TO Enable An Efficient Collection Of Taxes


President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Policy Advisory Council has recommended the declaration of a state of emergency on revenue generation in the country.

The council also proposed the merger of the Federal Inland Revenue Service, Nigerian Customs Service, and the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency into the Nigerian Revenue Service in order to enable an efficient collection of all direct and indirect taxes, as well as levies on behalf of the Federal Government.

According to submissions made by the National Economy Sub-Committee, the policy will be aided by the passage of an Emergency Economic Reform Bill which will grant the President special powers to drive the economic reform agenda and support the delivery of sustainable and inclusive economic growth.

Also, the council further outlined the removal of fuel subsidy, sale or concession of select government assets, transition to a transparent and unified foreign exchange rate system, deepening tax collection and optimization of operating expenditure to reduce cost, as targets to be pursued by the President towards the achievement of some milestones within the first 100 days in office.

Members of the Policy Advisory Council are Senator Tokunbo Abiru (chair), Dr Yemi Cardoso, Sumaila Zubairu and Dr Doris Anite. A copy of the report submitted by the panel was obtained by correspondent on Friday.

The council’s report, which focuses on fiscal and monetary policies, industry, trade and capital market reforms, emphasised that changes in the Central Bank of Nigeria and temporary increases in fiscal circuit breakers such as debt limits would help achieve N1trn Gross Domestic Product growth and over 50 million jobs for citizens in eight years.

The 90-page document further proposed that reforms in the CBN will help achieve about $50bn-$60bn in external reserves, with a monthly inflow of at least $6bn-$8bn from export earnings and other forms of capital inflow, to support the policy at an exchange rate of N500-N600/$. Police arrest man who demanded that all Igbo be ‘killed’, ‘flushed out of Yoruba lands.

Operatives of the Osun State Police Command has arrested Kehinde Adesogba Adekusibe, a 28-year-old man who asked that all the Igbo in Yorubaland should be killed and flushed out.

The suspect was arrested on Thursday, June 15, weeks after he tweeted, “Let’s kill all the Igbos. Let’s flush them out of Yoruba lands. I hate these people with passion. They are violent people. They are worst. They hate us. Let’s hate them without holding back.”


The command in a statement said the suspect was arrested at llesa where he hibernated following an intelligence led investigation by men of the Cyber crime section at SCID Osogbo.
