A food poisoning incident at Auki village of Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State has left 7 members of same family, consisting of five children and two housewives dead.
It was further learnt that husband of the late women, Mallam Hassan lawali also developed a psychiatric disorder after eating the food prepared with corn on Tuesday night.

52-year-old Sean Finnegan and his 22-year-old girlfriend Rebecca Dishman have been charged with the murder of Jennifer Gail Paxton after her body was found dismembered in a freezer on August 6.
The couple who are accused of kidnapping, torturing, sexually assaulting and murdering the woman they initially offered a place to stay, have both been charged with first-degree murder, aggravated kidnapping, abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence. Finnegan also faces aggravated rape and abuse of a corpse charges while Dishman faces aggravated sexual battery and tampering with evidence charges.

Arrest warrants obtained by local station WATE revealed that the couple lured Paxton who was homeless, to their home in December 2019 by promising her a safe place to stay. They however held the 36-year-old against her will, chained her to a bed, shackled her with a dog collar and binded her arms with zip ties.

Finnegan and Dishman allegedly used baseball bats to beat Paxton so she wouldn't resist or try to escape, and they also allegedly denied her medical care and food. They also allegedly raped Paxton before strangling her to death.

They allegedly admitted to cutting off Paxton's body parts, breaking ligaments and bones to make her body fit into a freezer, according to the arrest warrants. After disposing of the body, Dishman allegedly used “bleach and a Swiffer” to clean up the living room and bedroom to get rid of the blood and other evidence...

There was mild drama at the Oyo State isolation centre Saturday, August 8, when a recovered COVID-19 patient refused to go home with her father, choosing instead to go with a soldier she met at the isolation centre.
About 20 people were discharged from the Infectious Disease Centre in Olodo, Ibadan, Oyo State, after they were treated for COVID-19.

Relatives of those discharged were outside waiting for them but one particular woman had two people waiting to pick her up. Her father, a pastor, was one of those waiting to take her home. A pharmacist slumped and died while having sex with a sex worker in a hotel in Igando, Lagos.
The lifeless body of the pharmacist, Bassey Asuquo, was discovered in one of the rooms of a brothel along Akesan road, Egan area of Igando, Lagos, Friday, July 31.

It was gathered that Bassey, believed to be in his 40s, took a room in the brothel at about 10pm the previous night, after a drink at the bar.

Policemen from Igando division who were alerted by the management of the brothel, stormed the scene, where a crowd had gathered to have a glimpse of Bassey’s lifeless body.

A little girl with blue eyes has allegedly been rejected by her father because of her eye colour, it has been claimed.

Alabi Rukayat Oyindamola shared the girl's story on Facebook. She explained that she met the girl's family when she travelled to Ilorin for the Eid break. She further claimed that the father rejected the girl and her late sister because of their blue eyes.

A seven-year-old boy has been left with multiple injuries after he was gruesomely beaten by his stepfather.

Shocking photos shared online shows the boy with a swollen face and wounds all over his body. As for his crime, it was reported that the little boy in the afternoon, ate some parts of the food that was meant for dinner.

As students in exiting classes prepare to resume for academic activities nationwide on Monday, August 3, the Ogun state government has mandated all students in boarding houses to undergo Malaria and COVID-19 tests as that would make them admissible into their boarding houses.

In a statement released today August 1, Ronke Soyombo, the Special Adviser to the governor on Primary and Secondary Education, said all boarding students must stay in school hostels only as private hostels would not be allowed to accommodate students in order to ensure effective monitoring. Justice F. N. Azinge of the Delta State High Court sitting in Otor-Udu has convicted and sentenced the duo of Pastor Glory Okeoghene Aberefa and Reverend Vincent Okpogo to 16 and 10 years imprisonment respectively for allegedly stealing N32m.

A statement from the EFCC says the convicts, alongside their company, Mustard Seed Micro Investment Limited, were prosecuted by the Benin Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on 16-count charges, bordering on conspiracy to steal and stealing, contrary to Section 516 and 390 (9) of the Criminal Code, CAP 21, Vol 1, Laws of Delta State of Nigeria, 2006.

They pleaded “not guilty” to the charges, upon their arraignment on June 19, 2017.

Their trial by the EFCC legal team of V. O. Agbaje and K. U. Udus followed a petition and investigation which fingered them in the stealing of the sum of N32,516,620.00 (Thirty-Two Million, Five Hundred and Sixteen Thousand, Six Hundred and Twenty Naira).

The first defendant, Pastor Aberefa was sentenced to one year imprisonment on each of the 16 counts, while the second defendant, Reverend Okpogo was sentenced to one year imprisonment each on count seven to 16, all of which run consecutively...

An Egyptian court has sentenced five young women to two years in prison for posting "indecent" dance videos on TikTok.

The prosecution statement named two of the defendants 20-year-old student Haneen Hossam and 22-year-old Mawada Eladhm and said the other three helped run their social media accounts.

The women were also fined 300,000 Egyptian pounds (A$26,000) each for "violating the values and principles of the Egyptian family," inciting debauchery and promoting human trafficking, according to a statement from the public prosecutor.

Haneen Hossam and Mawada Eladhm rose to fame though TikTok, amassing millions of followers for their video snippets which include sharing of footage of themselves wearing makeup, posing in cars, dancing in kitchens and making funny skits.

However, their social media stardom became their undoing in a country, where citizens can land in prison for vague crimes such as “misusing social media,” “disseminating fake news,” or “inciting debauchery and immorality.”

A twenty-five-year-old man identified as Ashiru Musa Danrimi allegedly stabbed himself to death with a knife in Kano state after his fiancee abandoned him to get married to another man.

According to reports, the deceased who was a member of a Neighborhood watch in Kadawa ward, Ungogo local government area of the state, became frustrated after his fiancee, Umi Muhammad, decided to get married to another man despite committing himself financially and otherwise to their relationship. He allegedly took a knife and stabbed himself.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Kano state police command, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said the police rushed the deceased to the Murtala Hospital where he was confirmed dead. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Gombe zonal office, has secured the conviction of Samuel Bulus Adamu before Justice N. I . Afolabi of Federal High Court Gombe.

A statement from the antigraft agency says Adamu, a former Chairman of Shongom Local Government Area of Gombe State, was first arraigned on March 9, 2015 on a seven-count charge bordering on fraud, cheating and money laundering to the tune of N97, 640, 000.00k( Ninety-Seven Million, Six Hundred and Forty Thousand Naira only).

A Nigerian man in the U.S., Damilola Bamidele Isaac Samuel, has been sentenced to 33 months in federal prison for ATM fraud.

Samuel, 22, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit bank fraud on Dec. 10, 2019. He was convicted in Shreveport, Louisiana for using fraudulent ATM bank cards to steal more than $260,000 from dozens of bank customers.

According to federal prosecutors, Chief U.S. District Judge S. Maurice Hicks Jr. ordered Samuel to serve 33 months and pay $276,790 in restitution.

U.S. Attorney David C. Joseph disclosed the judgement in a statement on Thursday July 23. The judgement was delivered on Monday, July 20, he said. He added that Samuel will face deportation proceedings after serving his term....

A man was sentenced on Thursday, July 23, to 15-years in prison for plotting an attack on the White House and several government properties.

Hasher Jallal Taheb, 23, of Cumming, Georiga pleaded guilty to attempted destruction of government property by fire or explosive. He was sentenced Thursday in U.S. District Court.

“Taheb planned to conduct a terrorist attack on the White House as part of what he claimed was his obligation to engage in jihad,” said Assistant Attorney General for National Security John C. Demers. “And that was just one of the iconic American landmarks he wanted to target. Thanks to a tip from a member of the community and the work of the agents, analysts, and prosecutors responsible for this case, the threat posed by the defendant was neutralized and the defendant has now been sentenced for his planned terrorist attack.”

“Taheb painstakingly planned an attack on the White House that potentially jeopardized the lives of White House employees and visitors,” said U.S. Attorney Byung J. “BJay” Pak. “We are thankful to members of our community and our federal and state law enforcement partners who identified Taheb’s scheme and worked cooperatively to bring him to justice.”

“Because of a tip from the public, the FBI Atlanta Joint Terrorism Task Force and our law enforcement partners began a year-long investigation that resulted in Taheb's arrest and potentially saved many lives,” said Chris Hacker, Special Agent in Charge of FBI Atlanta....

Gal Pissetzky, lawyer to suspected Internet fraudster and Instagram celebrity, Ramon Abass, aka Hushpuppi, has revealed the fraud suspect has not been released.
