Politics / Re: EFCC Declares Yahaya Bello A Fugitive, Orders Arrest On Sight by d142475: 11:18pm On Aug 22
the easiest way to get bello is to let the Supreme Court do its work of declaring his stooge in the Kogi government house illegitimate. its like lighting up dry bush in harmattan so that the "bush meats" will run out from their hiding in the bush. If they get Ododo (who is illegitimate), Bello will have no hiding place.

Northerners are the major cause of the oligarchic mentality in Nigeria. Their worldview is based on a divide between the rich and the poor. The North does not believe in upward social mobility. If you are poor or from a poor family, that is your destiny designed by Allah and if you are rich, from a rich family, that is your destiny designed by Allah and you are supposed to do sadaqah for the poor. The rich intermingle amongst themselves and the poor are supposed to be worshiping them. The South is copying that mentality, but it is not widespread. In the South, there is a belief in upward social mobility. Children of "nobodies" have grown to be billionaires and it is common for industrious children to cure their generation of generational poverty.
There is indeed two countries in Nigeria. The North and the South should never have had anything to do together.

Religion / Re: Christian Population In Africa 2024, By Country by d142475: 5:57am On Jul 22
It's high time Nigerian Christians embraced politicking with their full chest, just as the Northern Muslims are doing. The Nigerian Christian population is higher than the Muslim population, but the Northern muslims have succeeded in hypnotizing everyone into believing in their dominance. You'd think the North is a vast islamic monolith until you actually visit states like Gombe, Bauchi, Taraba, Kaduna, Borno, etc...The Christians are the silent majority in this country and it's high time we became loud in policies and politics.

Not necessarily. What it shows is that in reality, Nigeria is a country on auto-pilot. It is a country that will do well with or without the government. The hardworking citizens private–not the government–are the main drivers of Nigeria's wealth and economy. In reality, what this shows is that in spite of the huge size of our government, they are not effective or even destined to meet the day-to-day needs of the country. You and I know that more than half of the $30 Billion budget will be embezzled and the rest will be spent on frivolities. The government does not care about creating basic infrastructure, so why will they budget that Hughe amount for those? Moreover, the revenue Nigeria generates from taxes, import duties, exports are stolen and do not add to our national assets.
In summary, Nigeria is not poor. Nigeria rather does not care about responsible governance that is responsive to the needs of the citizens. Hence, the tiny budget.

Foreign Affairs / Re: Ghana Announces 3 Weeks Of Power Cuts Due To Reduction In Gas From Nigeria by d142475: 10:58pm On Jun 14
If only we knew how our government in Nigeria short changes us in favour of foreign nations. Ghana has been getting gas from Nigeria for free for years. They have been owing us money, but nobody said anything, probably because they (the Ghanaians) have been bribing a few corrupt Nigerian officials to look the other way while they get gas supply from us for free. This is just the tip of the ice berg. You also remember the "Nigeria Air" saga where the then minister of aviation wanted to sell the whole Nigerian aviation sector to Ethiopian Airline to the detriment of our own airline? How about fuel subsidy? We literally subsidize fuel for contiguous West African countries. Trillions of Naira to "help" other African countries. What about electricity? It'd shock you that we supply electricity to Togo and Benin Republic while our own country wallows in darkness. What about oil and mineral theft? Our officials collude with multinationals to steal billions of dollars worth of oil and mineral from our shores everyday.
sometimes I wish God gave me super power for just thirty seconds. Every politician and those who have turned Nigeria to a den of misery will be crushed and their flesh will be fed to dogs, pigs, and vultures.

I pity PH people if APC should grab PH.Let that man do is things, support him, pray for him, God should guide him

But when GEJ was in power, why were Northern politicians not doing the same down South? The greatest weakness of the South is selfishness and individualism. This has helped in terms of fostering an environment of competition and individual success, but politically it has made the South inferior to the North. The day the South sticks together politically, the Middle Belt (which is already tired of the North), will join the South. In fact, the North East might even join. Our greatest problem in this country is the Fulani-led North West. How can a small minority hold the rest of the country to ransom? I watch senate sessions sometimes and I see Northern politicians speaking arrogantly and boastfully and forcefully when their people's interest are at stake (especially on Fulani herdsmen), but Southern politicians chicken out when it comes to standing for their people against Northern interest.

Is it by force to bear biolgical children? If you can knack and enjoy knocking as a man, why not adopt a child or children? In this economy and amidst overpopulation, Africans are still hellbent on bearing children, especially the poor ones. Later there'd start disturbing uncles, siblings, and cousins for children's school fees. If you can't afford the Money, then you probably don't need to have biological children of your own. ADOPT. You can still love an adopted child as your blood.

Kenyamo has been impressive as a minister, but his response shows that this desperation to restore flights to Dubai is for the benefit of the elites, who have invested our stolen wealth in that city, hence the need for a direct flight to Dubai.

Culture / Re: What I Learnt From Yoruba Land - Azuka Onwuka by d142475: 5:41pm On May 22
yinkabeauty:

I get your point, but let me make the following observations:

1. There was never a social contract in Nigeria. The peoples of Nigeria never negotiated a union that will be mutually beneficial to all tribes and languages. First, they were lumped together by the British, and more consequentially, when it became time for us to govern ourselves, we never collectively negotiated a constitution that will be the codification of our social contract and the foundation of our union. What we have a the 1999 constitution was a lopsided, fraudulent document that was foisted on us by Northern military rulers.

2. In Nigeria, tribalism and division are not as bad on a day-to-day basis. In living their daily lives, Nigerians interact with one another and inter-marry. Muslims marry Christians, Christians have Christian relatives and vice-versa (especially in the Middle Belt and in the South-West), corpers become roommates to other corpers of different tribe during youth service, and life-long friendships are formed. The pseudo-ethinic an religious division in Nigeria is POLITICAL for the most part. If there is a political will and concerted efforts, the reality of solidarity, which we already practice in our day-to-day lives, will be transferred to the political space. The case of Rwanda under Kagame is a good pointer to the fact that modern African states can overcome the scourge of triibalism and ethnic bigotry,

3. The concept of homogeneity is no longer sustainable in this 21st century. Migration is needed to boost economies of countries and countries can no longer afford to be hermit nations. Even Eastern European countries are beginning to open up. Also, the notoriously closed Asian countries are beginning to open up. In this current reality, the trend is to expand and form alliances, not the other way around.

4. The goal is not to strive towards homogeneity or destroy the uniqueness of the subnations, but to emphasize and affirm their uniqueness, and forge cooperation in issue of common interests like defense, international relations, international trade etc.... The goal is to form a nation that is based on the principle of subsidiarity.

5. A lot already joins the various peoples of Nigeria together. We have a common Nigerian culture that is forged from our various cultures, but transcends just one culture. That can be the basis of of unity.

6. Nationhood is formed on the basis of INTENTIONALITY. If we have leaders, who are inentional about nation building, they will put mechanisms in place to forge more unity of purpose. These can be done in the following ways: Fairness, Rule of Law ( legally enforcing laws against discrimination etc), Education, National Orientation (media, using influences etc...), economic integration, Sports investment ( a strong unifying force in Nigeria) etc...

7. Homogeneity is not a guarantor of unity. We see that in South Sudan's example.

Culture / Re: What I Learnt From Yoruba Land - Azuka Onwuka by d142475: 5:26pm On May 21
Yorubas and Igbos should have been in different countries
You got this one wrong. Modern states are not about blood or ethnic affinities. Modern States are about a people coming together to advance common interests. Moder States are based on social contract, which is an agreement on how a group of people organize their society and govern themselves. People who are different in orirtentaion and ideology can come together to form a country, because in spite of differences, uniting makes them stronger. Modern States are not homogenous!

The reaction to this post reveals a lot about Nigerians. Nigerians are not outraged by corruption and stealing. Many see it as normal and will do worse if they get the opportunity. The level of immorality, lack of values, greed, and avarice in Nigeria breaks any scale. I dare say that the average Nigerian is a looter waiting for an opportunity .

Politics / Re: One Man Cannot Change The Entire Country – Tinubu’s Aide, Olusegun by d142475: 3:44pm On May 09
But the president can single-handedly destroy this country. Buhari started it, and Tinubu has taken this destruction spree to another level.

The constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria––that fraudulent piece of shit forced on us by the military against our will –has vested the president with enormous power . The president of Nigeria is like a monarch. President Goodluck Jonathan famously said that if he used a quarter of the powers he has under that constitution, he would be a dictator. So, don't deceive yourself Mr. Olusegun, the President of Nigeria can change the destiny of Nigeria.

Business / Re: What Do You Think Should Be Done To Appreciate Naira ? by d142475: 3:31pm On May 09
There are things that can be done immediately, the Politicians are the number one cause of the depreciation of the Naira, so they won't take action. What do I mean, they are the ones that go with Ghana Must Go bags of Naira to change into dollars or pounds at the BDCs, thereby mopping up the dollars in circulation and creating scarcity. Now these must be done:

1. Digitalize forex transactions. The importers should be able to pay for their goods abroad using digital platforms (special Naira-dollar cards, etc..). When this is done, there will be no need to go hunt down abokis at BDCs before to buy dollars. A mechanism should be put in place that enhances transactions from Nigerian accounts to foreign accounts. If there are concerns about fraud, the Nigerian government should step in as a guarantor to foreign entities and businesses. If this is done, the BDCs will be put out of business and the "big men" and Central Bank Officials, who benefit from the current system, will never let it happen.

2. We do most of our business with China, we should not have to convert our Nairas to Dollars before assessing the Chinese currency. We should be able to transact directly without any intermediary currency.

3. We must insist in selling our little exports (crude oil, etc) in Naira. If you don't want to buy, then go away. We must firm about that .

4. There is too much Naira in circulation. Buhari indiscriminately printed money, about 23 trillion Naira. I don't know if Tinubu is doing the same, but if money is excessively printed, it loses value and causes tremendous inflation. This trend has to be reversed.

5. Allow for the import of food (at least for a time period) to bring down the price of food. Allow for the import of cement to break Dangote's monopoly and bring down the price of cement.

6. Legalize the "illegal refineries" and fix the government -owned ones so that we stop importing fuel .
Politics / Re: Fubara Bars All LG Heads From Appearing Before Amaewhule-Led Rivers Assembly by d142475: 3:40am On May 09
I am not a fan of Wike, but this directive has all shades of wrong. It is dictatorial. Seeing the comments of many people supporting Fubara's actions in the circus shows that Nigerians are wired to love dictatorial acts or dictators and autocrats. That's why a lecturer will behave like a Demi-god to the students; that is why a small official at the airport will behave like he or she is a demi-god; that is why the taxi driver will act as a Demi-god to the passengers; that is why the parish priest will stand up and threaten parishioners and does not feel he is accountable to them. Nigerians are wired to love or tolerate autocracy.
