Walspring:

Its good to know but since 2011, you recall this thread now

@Walspring

You know people in Nigeria are skeptical about a lot of stuffs, Especially when money is involved, so you have to be careful.

@Walspring i check the forum all the time but people like to discuss " irrelevant" stuff sometimes, so i back off most times. it's also not easy to

shuffle through the thread anymore, it is so long.

i hope you doing good ??

Home country is the best place to apply for most visas including USA, Time interval is dependent on available dates on the appointment website.

Pay for visa fee to view available dates. You can schedule your leave around the dates available. Visa approval at your interview.

obusco4lyfe: thanks man! Sorted it out already...abt d sevis fee, do u plan 2 use a credit card?

@obusco4lyfe

NO............
Credit Card is not allowed for most countries, Nigeria Inclusive, so even if you try to make payments online it will tell you straight up that it's not allowed.

i usually make payment via western union quick transfer with all the I-20 details. it takes approximately 3-5 business days or less to have the receipt available online at https://www.fmjfee.com/i901fee/dhs/loadSearchPage.do

The amount in sponsors account maybe be equal to or greater than the balance on your I-20. As per the name, its safer when the Last name ( surname tallies), but you can still get the visa even if your sponsor is not related to you. Everything is dependent on how you present your case and God's divine favor.

Goodluck.

Mozehh: Guys,

Lovely posts,

Please, how easy is it for someone who has got a phd admission and teaching assistantship to get a visa

Also, how much is required on the sponsor's bank statement and must the person bear your surname or be directly related to you?

Thanks for your replies

Hello fellow all, I have been eager to write about my own experience for like over 5months now, but I decided to keep it low till date.
I was at the Abuja Embassy yesterday and I got my visa……, All Glory, Adoration, and Praise belongs to no one else but to Almighty God, The “beginner” and “finisher”. I thank you Lord.
The lady at counter 7 asked me few questions, I spent just 1minute with her.
V.O: how did you find-out about the school?
ME: Google, Wikipedia, Financial Times (ft.com), MBA.com.
V.O: What do you do right now and why do you want to quit a great job for school?
ME: I have been planning for this degree for over two years, so going to school is to advance and accelerate my career in the business world and learn business ethics.
V.O: what will the Degree do for you? (I.e. Masters Degree of International Business)
ME: I want to become a business manager or a business development manager.
V.O: So will you start your own business after the degree?
ME. No………………….am too young, energetic, and ambitious for that right now, maybe when am 40…, something I may think of that, but right now I need get practical experience before jumping into the deep waters…………………, ( she laughed so hard)
V.O: who is your sponsor?
ME: My father and I passed the statement, she only checked the last page and I got the white paper to pick up my visa tomorrow.

Tips: Put God first, my whole family and few friends fasted and prayed for me over and over.
I also fasted personally for 3days then 7days and prayed over and over in my heart
I stayed away totally from sexual activities for over 5months, sacrifice something my people
Finally please try to do everything yourself, from application to sevis fee payment, DS-160, and all; even if someone is helping you, get involved at every stage. Don’t just collect all the prepared documents and walk to the embassy for a visa.
For those going to Republic of Benin (SEME BORDER) to pay for sevis fee
Please call +229-93926614 or +229-97568473 (Adam) He is one of the security guys at Eco-bank, they will come and pick you with bike from Con oil and take you back.
I went through hell in the hands of Nigeria and Benin customs officials doing the right thing of stamping in and out……………, Each stupid stamp cost me 500naira from both sides, I was terrible.
Right ways are made though and expensive so the wrong method strives in my dear beloved country, May God helps us.
I am checking for cheap flights so talk to you guys later.
Post your questions

Computers / Re: Best Antivirus To Use by dammy1102(m): 3:15pm On Apr 30, 2009
To me, the best antivirus is UBUNTU LINUX, i have windows and Ubuntu installed on my laptop, anytime i want to use a flash drive or go on the internet, i use my ubuntu linux, since most viruses are developed to crash windows based systems, well on my windows vista, i use AVG which is quite good except when you have loads of cracks on your system, also, my system is well partition into like 6, i have one for windows, then Ubuntu, then another for my softwares, then the remaining contains stuffs like virtual CDs, movies, pictures and likes. so setup ur system in such a way that even if virus attacks you, formatting ur O.S partition will not cause you any data loss since they are backed up on another partition.
