A woman nursing a six-month pregnancy simply identified as Mrs. Ikhuoria, has been allegedly stabbed to death by her neighbour over N1,000. It was gathered that the deceased had on Monday gone to demand from her neighbour, identified as Mama Emmanuel, to pay back the N1,000 loaned to her, when an argument ensued between them.

The owner of the house, Mrs. M. Okpojie, told journalists that she was working at the backyard when she heard someone shouting. She said when she arrived at the scene of the incident, she found the deceased drenched in her blood and had to rush her to a private hospital where doctors referred them to another hospital.

“I was working at the back of the house when I heard shouting. I had to rush her to a private hospital when I saw the way she was bleeding. Doctors said it was an internal bleeding and I should take her away. So, I called the husband to come.”

Commenting on the incident, the husband of the deceased, Ediale Ikhuoria, said the wife died over the N1,000 she loaned their neighbour.

“My wife loaned her N1,000 and when she demanded for the money, Mama Emma stabbed her. She killed my wife. My wife was six months pregnant. She died on Monday morning,” he said.

Edo Police Command spokesman, DSP Abiodun Osifo, who could not confirm the incident, said he was yet to be briefed by the relevant Police Division.

A mum has been jailed for life for the murder of her three young daughters.
Carol Ann Coronado's three girls were discovered laid out on her bed with their throats slit.
The youngsters were also stabbed through their hearts in what was described as an interrupted plot to “take out her family" .

A federal judge has delayed next week's sentencing for a priest convicted of having sex with poor street children during missionary trips to Honduras.

The judge will hold a hearing Tuesday on whether to grant a new trial for the Rev. Joseph Maurizio instead of sentencing the 70-year-old priest that day in Johnstown, about 60 miles east of Pittsburgh.

Maurizio, a suspended Somerset County priest was convicted in September of charges including engaging in illicit sexual conduct in foreign places, also known as sexual tourism.

Maurizio's attorney has filed several sealed motions and documents in the last month, so his specific claims are unclear

An Asian girl in her 20s killed her newborn baby in the bathroom after she was impregnated through a relationship with a man.

A roommate found the baby dead in the bathroom and phoned the police after she noticed that the Asian girl had blood stains on her body.

During questioning, she admitted that the baby is hers but that she did not intend to kill him when she delivered him in the bathroom.

A former federal transportation security agent remained held on $3,000 bail Saturday after being charged with luring a 21-year-old South Korean exchange student going to school in Utah into a bathroom at a New York City airport and molesting her.

Maxie Oquendo, 40, was arrested Thursday on unlawful imprisonment, official misconduct and sexual abuse charges, two days after authorities say the Transportation Security Administration agent confronted the woman after she stepped off a flight from Salt Lake City Tuesday, telling her a "secondary security screening" was necessary.

The TSA said it has fired Oquendo.

Oil markets were fairly stable in early Asian trading on Monday with U.S. crude contracts receiving support from reduced American drilling.

U.S. crude futures were trading at 44.86 dollars per barrel, up 23 cents from their last settlement, pushed by a slight fall in drilling activity.

“Baker Hughes reported U.S. oil rig count fell 10 to 652 last week.

“The consecutive second decline suggests a low price environment coupled with low oil price hedge is starting to impact U.S. supply,” ANZ bank said.

The International Energy Agency said on Friday that a cut in production from non-OPEC suppliers, especially the United States, would lead to rebalancing of the market by next year.

Speaking to Emirates24|7, a top official from Al Ameen Secret Police service said they have prevented several crimes from taking place as well as saved the lives of many.

“This particular case happened sometime back. The caller was a man living in a sharing accommodation in Dubai,” said the source.

“One of the women living in the accommodation was involved in an illicit relationship and got pregnant. She managed to hide her pregnancy but gave birth at home with the help of her boyfriend and others,” the official added.

“Soon after giving birth, she was thinking of ways to get rid of the baby with the help of her boyfriend. One of the tenants living with them worried about the fate of the baby, and decided to call Al Ameen service.”

The official said that they informed Dubai Police CID, which sent a patrol immediately to the location and arrested the father and mother of the newborn.


“Upon arrest, the couple admitted they were in an illicit relationship and that they were thinking of ways to get rid of the baby,” the source said.

The case was transferred to the Public Prosecution for further investigations and they both were punished.

“Since the launch of Al Ameen service in 2003, we have succeeded in preventing large numbers of crimes from taking place. This is because of the increase in awareness among the public on the importance of this service to keep the emirate safe.”

A Saudi man used broken glass to stab his 95-year-old grandmother to death to rob her house in the Gulf Kingdom, a newspaper reported on Sunday.


The man, 29, smashed a glass bottle and used a sharp piece to stab the old woman in the chest, killing her instantly, 'Ajel' said.

It quoted police as saying the man had been arrested and was being interrogated to know his exact motives for the murder at the woman’s home in the Southern Jazan province. But the paper added that the man had told police that he killed his grandmother after she caught him stealing her.

Following the take over of all territories overrun by the Boko Haram insurgents and the restoration of peace, the Nigerian Army has re-opened primary and secondary school classes for the returnees.
Speaking to NAN in Madagali on Saturday, Lt. Col Chibueze Agbuabo, the Commanding Officer, 143 Rangers Battalion, said the officers had voluntarily opened classes for the pupils and students.
“Now that normalcy has been restored in the area and the communities have resumed their daily activities, the Army has opened the hitherto shut classes where pupils and students are being taught,” Agbaubo said.
According to the battalion commander, the development was to ensure that the young ones are not idle, even as all government and private schools in the areas are still under lock and key.
He said the development was also to help the students fill up the gap they had lost during the invasion by the insurgents.
In addition, the military was rendering free medical health care services to the communities as well as counseling them.
Agbaubo described the relationship between the military and the communities as cordial.
