These jerseys sef, Akpom is wearing shirt numbered 24 but shorts numbered 15. Lol. I know it wasn't planned but these are the haphazard arrangements the NFF make that make these players wonder "abi na mad men de run football for Nigeria". So NFF means they don't have 2 sets of fully numbered 25 jerseys in green and white. See Ebuehi sef, na polo and regular jersey em wear play match. It's just funny looking at it tho. These guys need to start getting used to the fire brigade approach.

I don't understand something, please I need clarification from a contributor. Was Chidozie in camp yesterday, Sunday? I read and watched highlights of his game against Swansea, and yet today he played for the SE team B? If he left camp yesterday, then that must be d best kept secret of this camping exercise. And if it is so then the guy must like ball to play yesterday and today grin

@SG, maybe u got me wrong. I'm not even looking at CMR for now. Just focusing on the SA game cos that comes 1st. I believe we have the team to beat CMR. If I should jump the gun, maybe this team may beat CMR, but they'd have serious cohesion than us due to at least 3 guaranteed games at the confeds. So on the scale of that it's tough to predict the outcome of those double headers.

safarigirl:
first, his name is Omeruo, not Omeruah

Second, abeg what is in the Cameroon that Dede's team can't win? Or did they get Mbappe the Superboy to commit to them? You have forgotten how Kenya came to Nigeria and drew on our own turf just two months after our AFCON win? The champions are usually easier to beat because they have more to fight for

Assuming this is the last game b4 the SA game, based on what I watched, I'd propose the following team against SA:
GK - Ikeme,
CBs - Leon and Troost (we'd still have to manage them)
RB - Shehu; nobody seems to know this guy is very good at RB. Attacks well, defends ok, and crosses almost accurately.
LB - Elderson, no one comes close to usurping this position.

DM - Ndidi, he's won it as his position now.
CM - Onazi, very agile player. We'd have to just manage his erratic passes.
AM - Mikel, may I not hear Iwobi's name for this position until he let's us know he wants to take his football career more seriously.

LW - V. Moses, since he'd be a winger he better comes from the left as he hardly crosses when playing for Naija
RW - Etebo Knicks it just ahead of Success due to team chemistry and his robustness.

FW - Iheanacho. Despite the stick he's been getting of late, no one comes close to his football IQ. This Bobo has movements in abundance.

This team would match SA speed for speed and over power SA physically.

I'm actually thinking it should be more coordinated. Do Chelsea or QPR know their players are in the SE camp? I'm looking at the 2 weeks rule here. I have nothing against the foreign born players, I even support thein invite as I feel they better fortify our team. But I hardly want to join FB vs HB eagles arguments as I feel any body with Naija blood living anywhere should be given a fair chance to stake a claim as long as they measure up to standards when invited.

Joebie:
on your last paragraph. Is there anything wrong with players strolling in, especially as we are looking to win players of dual origins ahead of our competition? Would you rather have our home based fly in, or make quick invitations that can hardly be honored? This is a unique circumstances, we don't always have to compare ourselves to the likes of US, Germany etc in all things to say we are not doing things right, as if they are always right or always have to be the standard. I think it is the right thing to do on our part, as the likes of Bazee, Eze etc will feel more Nigerian after socializing with the main SE boys, and should they be in top form tomorrow and we want to win them over, we will not hear excuses like "I don't feel Nigerian enough" lol

Initial analysis was on the negatives. On the positives,

Echejile is not giving up that his shirt anytime soon. I don't care if Ola Aina and co come, they'll find out that Elderson may just be a bit much to displace. Very good but underrated player. It seems the only 2 break out stars from that his 2007 under 20 set are degradingly underrated - Efe Ambrose being the other.

Ndidi is one hell of a player. That his octopus leg gives him great advantage. Biased somebori said Idrissa Gana outshine him, I can't recall Naija playing another game with Senegal. Cos the one I watched Ndidi outperformed Idrissa and this is not me being sentimental. Ogu was alright nothing extraordinariè. I was impressed with Success and Kayode. Their movement offered more options in our attack, hence the very enthralling last 8 mins of the game. Kayode may not even be considered as a 9 as most are assuming. Rohr may just use him in the wings due to his speed.

It is very positive to see the intent to play friendlies, but NFF needs to do better with regards to planning. I know Burkina caused d cancellation of the friendlies, but to think that some of our own lauretta missed due to visa shows lack of planning. I may be wrong, but I was under the assumption that the FA makes special arrangements with regards collective Visa approval by obtaining the players Passport ahead of time to apply for the visa at the respective consular. For the past 5 months I've been noticing that it seems like the players go solo in obtaining these passports. If it's the latter then NFF needs to make special expediting arrangements so that these players face no delays. Or better still have the players attempt to collect these visas a month ahead of the game.

Dedebanky85:
I normally watch a game without national bias for the 2nd and 3rd times. The 1st I can be frantic and be bias. My takings ob the game are as follows:

That was one hell of a boring game on Naija's part. Even the commentator could attest to the countless inaccurate passes and crosses. If CMR catches this team, they would lambast this SE. I used to clamor for the absence of Mikel, but I think I'm beginning to have a rethink. The people's choice - Iwobi - has decided to take his SM career more serious than his footy career. For the past 2 months, Iwobi has been repeatedly playing rubbish. He should be reminded of one certain Emma Frimpong. Can't tell where that guy plays these days. I fear for Iwobi. Infact Iwobi shouldn't start against CMR, that's how widowed I am.

Iheanacho still showed his brilliant movements, but as @Forgiveness said, he was match rusty. The 6 yards miss was what Iheanacho feeds on on a regular day. I'm of the opinion he should get the hell outta Man City to save his career.

The defence can't really pass out, especially Ekong and Omeruo. In fact Troost, although a good defender, "em de select leg". Omeruo always has to float the ball rather than pick out a player with a pass. Overall, the game was not really inspiring till the last 8mins of each half.

I don't know if it's just the commentary plus video settings, but when I watched other friendlies, ours just looked like uncoordinated game of "CHOOSING".

On another note, I like the fact that Rohr called up the foreign born guys in the UK, but can SE be more respected whereby you just don't stroll into the camp at will. If Germany was to play in Weasley, would non-capped players in England just come to the German camp just to felicitate? I follow these guys on Snap and other SM, the amount of faces I see in mufty, is alarming. We can be more coordinated than what I'm seeing.

All right folks, the part of the game I watched, Naija had the upper hand. We moved the ball pretty sleek. But I could see the Senegalese are way to difficult. I'm just relying on the gals FB account for the commentary as she pretty much knows some of the players. But it seems as if whoever wore number 6 ain't playing well based on her concurring comments.
Good thing I'm watching the game, but bad thing is no replay. At all at all naim bad pass.

What stream did you watch? Obviously it couldn't have been the one you posted. Chidera Eze started that game. He was on the pitch when they scored the first goal on the 3rd minute.
Infact, he ran up to the goal scorer to celebrate with him.

In fact I watch d game and was like no be Chidera be number 70? The darker Dude that was stocky was the DM. Number 70 was a support attacker and that was Chidera...

goldfish80:

No. He played as a support striker not as a DM. The black guy on Jersey number 91 was the DM not Chidera. Chidera wore no70 Jersey, he was the most advanced player in the lead up to their first goal ...
Its a case of mistaken identity on your part, probably you had them mixed up because of their identical skin colour.

He has not played in the league in a while. It's because another defender called Titi was suspended that's why he got a look in... He's going back to d bench next weekend... Nothing special about this Otigba to be honest...

If not for the pass that caused the Hull goal he'd prolly have been around 8.8. Very clean game he had. This guy won the ball. I still feel Onazi is a better ball winner but Ndidi is fast catching up with every passing game. And he's even more fluid with the ball. But he should learn to initiate more quick breaks with passes on the floor and not on the air. The time it takes to control an air pass makes the defenders catch up..... All round I'm being sold on this guy with every passing game.

tbaba1234:
According to the rankings on Whoscored.com, the best Leicester players in this game against Hull are:

Mahrez: 8.5
Fuchs: 7.3
Ndidi: 7.1

Sports / Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2023, 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Dedebanky85: 1:58am On Feb 28, 2017
Not to dispute your stats, but in terms of ground. Overnight I think Onazi does that a lot. Tried to look up stats on the Algeria game, can't find it anywhere as detailed as the one for clubs. But visually speaking I could see Onazi and Etebo almost everywhere on that day. The bustling runs and energy Onazi has to spare makes me like his game style....

tbaba1234:

Ndidi has easily been Leicester best player since he joined. Let us not forget that he had the best tackling and interception stats in the group stages of this year's Europa League averaging 7 tackles per game. That is relentless tackling.

Onazi average defensive stats in the Turkish league this season

2.1 Tackles
1.8 Interceptions
1.5 fouls
0.5 Clearances
1.8 Dribbles

Ndidi average defensive stats in the Turkish league this season so far

In Leicester so far

4.5 tackles
1.8 Interceptions
1.2 fouls
4 Clearances
1.8 Dribbles
0.2 Blocks

7.25 Average rating

Ndidi towers his rivals in the number of tackles he puts in, In the game against Liverpool, he put in 10 tackles.. There is no Nigerian DM with that kind of tenaciousness. Onazi is a good DM but in Ndidi we have a potential world class player, that is how highly i rate him. No one covers as much ground as him in the super eagles

Sports / Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2023, 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Dedebanky85: 1:01am On Feb 28, 2017
It pains me when a new player come, then the "Onazi better beware" music plays. But what happens still, Onazi would still play. Thank God March is here, Onazi would play the 2 games against Senegal and Burkina Faso. This is a player that the moment he started playing the MF in 2013, I knew it'll be hard for Naija not to win that AFCON. It's true that he has had some below par games, but I don't think there is any MF that knows how to turn defence into attack as quickly as Onazi does in SE. Not even Mikel, Iwobi or Etebo does that. So we should respect this guy more.
Sports / Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2023, 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Dedebanky85: 12:24am On Feb 28, 2017
You said it as it is. It'll still be tough for Ndidi to displace Onazi. People are only stuck on EPL. Onazi puts in Man on the Match displays on a weekly basis for Trabzonspor. I know people can argue about the quality of the Turkish league but that team has some good players. E.g. Emmanuel Mas (Argentina's LB along with Rojo). We need to learn to respect Onazi more. It's not by the club you play, it's by how you play. Onazi would hold down a shirt at Liecester easily... Back to SE - I'd have preferred to see both players at the same time but the respect for Mikel and huge talent of Etebo would never make that happen until last 10 to 20 mins as we saw in the Algeria match. But a MF ot Onazi, Etebo And Ndidi would be hard to subdue by any National team from any continent....

eazyjakes:
Wilfred Ndidi did remarkably well today especially in terms of interceptions/ball winning bt d dude still has a lot to learn in terms of tactical discipline as he is easily drawn out of his position. He is also far below onazi in terms of ball retention and distribution....I will pick onazi ova him for now bt he is not too far off in usurping onazi in d nearest future!

You know the way
Man must chop in Naija. But that's bad they'd do a player like that. The way France has Senegal, Malian and Ivorien players is what's happening to England and Germany with regards to dual nationality Nigerians. I'd be glad if we can get all. But I know we can't cos our NFF too like ready made. Thing is when these guys are nobody, u stand a good chance. But once they make it even at mid table clubs, a certain hope illuminates on their int'l chances with England. Gone are the days England picked players from the top 4 clubs. Now they pick from all clubs in their top flight and this gives these boys the hope that they may make it with England regardless of their EPL club.
komekn:

I have met quite a few Nigerian internationals who are British born and or came to England at a very early age.

All have shown undying loyalty to Nigeria without any questions what so ever. However, they cannot tell you in the public domain what actually goes on behind the scenes.

I remember a 4* hotel (on recognition) was booked for the National team in London only for officials to say money no dey to pay. Mikel and Yobo were amongst those that settled the bill to avoid international embarrassment.

I know a member national coaching team (not there now) who insisted that unless this already established premier league player signed with his agent his place in the team would be jeopardised. It eventually led to him being frozen out.

Players have found the plane booked to fly them looked like a flying coach. On one occasion Enyeama (very very vereeeeee good honourable guy) even offered with tears to charter another plane at his expense.

The problem they British Nigerian origin players have is they have been largely been brought up on. Integrity, Fair-Play, Transparency and best practice these are meals that are not served regularly at the NFF dining table.

We are Nigerians, how shocking must it be coming from England and officials begging shamelessly for settlement and money at every twist and turn.

If you have not lived in Nigeria before you could easily think you are in a Zoo. For me I am use to it from airport to Office to Road you will get bros find me sumtin. To us it may seem normal but coming from England it's like Wow which planet, I deh.

For me, I actually enjoy all the bros how far, anything for d boys it's like welcome home music to my ears. I Love it.

I don't think it's realistic to forecast a team on "probabilities". Names such as Solanke, Udokhai, Aina, Ilori, Lookman etc are all probabilities. Until I read an interview or monitor events and see they have declared for Naija, I ain't even looking at these guys. It takes a lot to convince these guys to leave a FOREIGN safe haven to come play for CLUELESSLY run Naija football. It's not that our team is bad, it's just the way our football is run, makes any sane thinking person to wanna stay away. I believe we have other FULL Naija options. E.g. Onyekuru, Samuel Kalu, Aluko Bala and many more. The future is bright, but I'd likely not take the risk of includingredients dual eligible players until they willingly declare for us.

The way City play now is so expansive and dynamic. As a result, they can get goals from any department. This is as a result of the dynamism of their MF to attack line. And yes I watched the game. Almost destroyed Swansea in 1st half but Swansea came big time into the game in the second half. But Aguero's presence changed the game again. However, I don't really rely on Stats from websites I don't know their grading systems. E.g., whoscored.com indicates that Jesus has played 41 pro games for 2507 mins and scored 19 goals, ~ 132mins = 1 goal. Iheanacho 21games, 568 mins, 8 goals (I doubt this stats). This comes up to ~ 71mins = 1 goal. Iheanacho looks the more potent attacker. But if you watch them both you know both can score equally. But it's their overall display which whoscored.com gives Jesus 7.44 and Iheanacho 6.58. But as I said I don't rely on Stats to come to conclusions in sports such as football. I have watched all of Jesus' games since he came to City to learn more about the anointed messiah everyone's been talking about. I watched hoping to c9nvince myself that he's(d) be a flop but I have been shamed and have to concede he's a better all round player than Iheanacho and it hurts my pride to say that at this moment. That being said Iheanacho should leave in the sunmer. His situation would not change except injury or Pep decides to quit coaching for unforeseeable reasons.

TheGoodJoe:

If you watched the game against Swansea, which I totally doubt, you will see Gabriel Jesus finishing weakness which I believe will come with age. You will also notice his passing weaknesses.

When people say Iheanacho is better, it is always with specifics which you failed to elaborate in your post. Iheanacho is a better finisher. His stats say so. However, what Gabriel Jesus brings to the City side is his remarkable work rate which I must confess was close to unbelievable. I doubt Gabriel Jesus will start ahead of Aguero if it comes to finishing. It is his work rate which is ahead of the other two strikers of the Cityzens.

Very smart contribution. To buttress your point, even August is too far. Rewind to 2013, Naija were African champions in FEBRUARY 2013, by MARCH 2013, Kenya wanted to kill us in Calabar, in our own house. 80 percent of the Nation's cup played that day. By June 2013 we played 3 games at confeds and later that year in November Ethiopia wanted to kill us in Addis Ababa. If not God touched Emenike to be in rocket delivery mode that day, our own for don finish... Congrats to CMR but as you said, their current form would have likely gotten into reset mode... So we are good but we should respect them also cos they have earned that respect.

safarigirl:
Between now and August will be a long time.

During that time, Nigeria will re-imforce their team with every German machine we can find with ties to us as tiny as a great great grand uncle. We could even consider a couple of innit boys.

We have an excess of talents people, some of whom nobody even knows of.

Between now and August, Algeria will have a new coach more in tune with players and those ones no go gree lick anybody yansh....lucky for us, Cameroon will get to see them before us and they could help us hold them back

Between now and August, the African Champion tag for don dey wash, and we no even plan to send them.

Between now and August is a looong time.

Can't be having BP on top what if when NFF are spending scarce dollars on Rohr for that stuff. So everybody, calm down

If you critically check, the only people around d world saying Iheanacho is better than Gabriel Jesus are Nigerians. No neutral in his right senses would watch both and come to the conclusion that Iheanacho is d better of the 2. It pains me Iheanacho is on the bench, but it is what it is. Even Pellegrini would pick Jesus ahead of Iheanacho. Well it's not too late, Iheanacho can work hard on most parts of his game. Even if he has to be on the thread mill longer to build his stamina, he needs to cos great players put in extra effort after regular trainings to become really good. I don't even see him getting into the top 5 teams in the EPL as it stands cos his ladies back and non-involving approach would slow these teams down. Maybe he could fit into ManUtd's style since they tend to be slow, but if he likes his career, the face of Mourinho is enough reason not to go near that club. He needs a 7 - 12 position team or better still leave the EPL. But I'd never advise him to go on loan. Just leave permanently cos Pep is gonna be in City for a while....

Dude as Nigerians say "You are mouthed". You just said the truth... Who cares if Mancity, Chelsea, or Arsenal wins the game, league or even get relegated. I just want the Naija players doing well. Most times except it's really an interesting game, once the Nigerian player is subbed off, I'm done with d darn game. Or I sparingly watch d game till the Naija player is subbed in and then I fully concentrate afterwards hoping he scores.

zicky:
Most Nigerian watching City's match don't care if City win or lose as long as Iheanacho score

You just said it all, very very good and skillful player, but he hugs the ball a lot. Well to his credit, he 80 percent makes positive moves from the ball hugging. If this guy decides to start passing more to his teammates, he could be mentioned in the same statement as an Alexis Sanchez in terms of ball playing abilities (not trophies). He needs to be focused and stay dedicated to improving his game. This guy could easily push Iwobi out of the left wing for SE and make Iwobi focus more on playing CM for Naija. Well, only time would tell.

I will not like playing with him if i was his teammate. He is very talented but sometimes, he can be selfish. Tries to shoot when he can pass. Reminds me of Victor Moses in the past.

If he moves to a bigger league and is coached by some top coaches, he won't have any business scoring this goal. He'd be taught to pass the ball. As they say "Na small thing de make person lose shirt". I have watched him a couple of times and he's a very very good player along with another player called Sylla, they are the shining lights of Eupen. But as both of them are really good, they are very selfish with the ball. A little more "passings" to his game and he'd almost be the finished product.

I laughed hard when I watched this video... Loolll

For the other players' mind, him go give assist... For where?? My guy acted like his teammates didn't even exist.....

His confidence is wicked! He's fast and furious! wink
