Computers / Re: I Want To Learn System And Software Programming by deejay50: 9:30pm On May 22, 2010
Try www.gayanb.com or www.freecomputerbooks.com, you could get some free ebooks. Or if you can wade through to the beginner articles on www.codeproject.com, www.function-x.com and soo many others. The thing is you have to take the time to read the stuff you get. So much could be thrown at you but sift thru and start with the basics. Hope this helps. smiley
Programming / Re: How To Become A Successful Programmer? by deejay50: 6:24pm On Apr 04, 2008
Nice question, I'd like to modify the question to ask what it would take to be a successful programmer in Nigeria. I fell in love with coding from the first time mostly because its one thing that offers instant results whether success or failure. What's more, you learn from your mistakes and get better each time. I don't know just how rewarding it is in Nigeria because it seems away from the mainstream professions we idealize so much angry. In fact, the older generation are not soo enthusiastic about it. Then, with programming, there is so much work (code) for little visible result so who cares if you spent a month fine-tuning, testing the code and making it as robust as possible? Pls share ur thoughts.

www.gayanb.com or www.freeprogrammingbooks.com for e-books all free! The problem is you have to read 'em. What's more, you might even want to learn Windows programming which is another matter entirely.

It sure sounds like a lot of work especially for a C/C++ programmer like me, anyway, I saw an article on codeproject, www.codeproject.com. Look around for bluetooth devices, its a starting point. Bluetooth programming is quite tedious, you need to have the latest SDKs and all that but I'm sure you'll get someone who's ready to do the dirty work for you. Goodluck!
Programming / Re: I Need Help On Dhtml by deejay50: 7:40pm On Nov 13, 2007
The dynamic nature of the info means you can't use flash or any such animation. A simple marquee (or series of them) with dynamic variables, some CSS, DHTML would do the trick. I did something similar recently. Of course if its fed by a db then some server-side programming is needed. It's not too complicated.
