Education / Pupils Being Fed On Pieces Of Paper In Kano - #School Feeding Programme (Video) by DivinedeGuru: 12:15pm On Jun 05, 2018
A video of pupils in Kano state being served food in sheets of paper has gone viral. The video was released by the Voice of America Hausa yesterday June 4th.

According to VOA Hausa, the pupils complained that the food they were being given lacked ingredients like the one their parents give to them at home.

When the reporter asked why the pupils were being served food on pieces of papers, the teachers who refused to give their names, said the Federal government told them they were going to provide them with plates but they are still waiting for the plates.

Recall that during the 2015 election campaign, one of the promises of APC was to provide lunch for school pupils. The School Feeding programme was launched after they came into power and has taken off in some states.

Religion / Joshua Iginla Blesses Widow, Orphans, Others With N12m, House And Scholarships by DivinedeGuru: 4:38pm On Jun 04, 2018
Abuja-based and pastor of Champions Royal Assembly, Bro. Joshua Iginla, lived up to his tradition of giving succour to the less-privileged during yet another birthday celebration.  A widow, orphans some dwarfs and the visually impaired recently left his service in smiles after he touched their lives in no small way.

Mrs. Grace Danladi, the widow who lives in Nasarawa State with her five kids, having lost her husband, Mr. Sani Danladi to a chronic disease six years ago, got N1 million and a plot of land in the City of Wonders from the man of God. A three-bedroom flat apartment was to be built and furnished for her.

The church met her and her children through its outreach. At the time her husband died, her last child was one month old and since the demise of her husband, she has been finding it difficult to finance the children’s needs through school and also feed them. She washes clothes as a vocation and earns a paltry N3,000 from this every month. Her five children also attracted the sympathy from the popular clergy who placed them on scholarship up to the university level.

Also, two orphans, 19-year-old Nancy and Mary Disi were given hope again during the service and blessed with N300,000 each. Mary who lives in Nasarawa State lost her parents in 2012 while Nancy lost hers at a very tender age of five. Both had hitherto struggled to eat, falling victims along the line to bad elements who took advantage of them. They sadly had earlier dropped out of school due to lack of funds. They were given scholarships by the man of God and a decent accommodation.

The life-touching gesture was also extended some 20 dwarfs who received the sum of N150,000 each, 20 visually impaired people, each of who also received N150,000 and a Nollywood producer, Korede who was blessed with N2 million as a support. Most of the beneficiaries were Muslims.

Bro. Iginla, during the service revealed that he had the resources to acquire a private jet but unlike other men of God, he decided to use it to assist the needy in the society, as that was the number one mandate God gave to him.

Another beneficiary include an aged couple, Mr. and Mrs. Dabby Shakari, married for over 80 years, who were part of the beneficiaries said they had been living in abject poverty and were dejected. Life to them had been a twinkle and at a point, hopelessness seemed to have set in because of their continuous suffering. Their condition made them to wonder how life treated them with so much cruelty. At the occasion, the man of God instantly blessed them with a cash of N1 million and promised to build and furnish a befitting house for them within the next two months. Meanwhile, he has already concluded arrangement to get a decent accommodation for them immediately while the house is being built. What’s more, the man of God with a large heart also placed them on a salary for life while promising to change their wardrobe.

During his birthday celebration last year, the pastor with a large heart had showered over N23 million on over 100 widows who are members of his church to alleviate their suffering. As he always says, he is devoted to empowering the vulnerable particularly the widows, orphans and the less privileged in the society without minding their religion, tribe or sectional inclination.

Crime / Facebook In Trouble Again For Sharing User Data With Phone Makers by DivinedeGuru: 4:09pm On Jun 04, 2018
Facebook is on the defensive again over how it handles people’s personal data. Under scrutiny this time is the company’s practice of sharing information about its users with dozens of smartphone and tablet makers.

A New York Times investigation published late on Sunday revealed the scope of data-sharing deals Facebook struck over the years with companies like Apple, Samsung and Microsoft.

The partnerships give some device makers access to Facebook users’ education history, relationship status, work, religion, political leaning and upcoming events, the Times reported.

In a blog post, Facebook confirmed some parts of the Times’ report but disputed others. It said it forged partnerships with around 60 companies back when mobile phones were less powerful and app stores did not yet exist. The social media company said it gave device makers access to software only so they could build versions of Facebook that worked on different phones or operating systems.

“These partners signed agreements that prevented people’s Facebook information from being used for any other purpose than to recreate Facebook-like experiences,” Ime Archibong, Facebook’s vice president of product partnerships, wrote in the blog post.

“We are not aware of any abuse by these companies,” he added, noting that Facebook has been “winding down access” to the software.

The New York Times reported that Facebook also gave device makers “access to the data of users’ friends without their explicit consent, even after declaring that it would no longer share such information with outsiders.”

Facebook disputed that finding, saying that “friends’ information, like photos, was only accessible on devices when people made a decision to share their information with those friends.” But the revelations quickly drew criticism and concern. “It’s worrying that so many companies had access to this data, particularly in light of security and privacy concerns,” said Michael Veale, a technology policy expert at University College London.

He suggested it’s “hugely possible that other apps on some devices could have been mining this data if the privacy and security controls were lax.” US Congressman David Cicilline, who has introduced a bill intended to curb Facebook and Google’s influence in the news industry, said the Times report raises questions about Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerburg’s testimony before Congress earlier this year.

“Sure looks like Zuckerberg lied to Congress about whether users have ‘complete control’ over who sees our data on Facebook,” Cicilline wrote on Twitter. “This needs to be investigated and the people responsible need to be held accountable.” Apple, Samsung and Microsoft did not respond to requests for comment on the matter.

Facebook is under increasing scrutiny from lawmakers, regulators and users around the world over its handling of users’ data and the steps it takes to protect their privacy.

‘I was two when my father was gunned down’: England star Raheem Sterling’s emotional explanation for gun tattoo

Sterling’s tattoo had been branded “disgusting” and “totally unacceptable” by anti-gun campaigners

Raheem Sterling has explained the emotional reason behind his gun tattoo.

Images emerged of the England and Manchester City star’s new M16 assault rifle ink on his leg as he continues his preparations for the World Cup.

Lucy Cope of Mothers Against Guns told the Sun: “He’s supposed to be a role model but chooses to glamourise guns.”

But the 23-year-old has moved to explain the tattoo, insisting it relates to his late father, who was murdered

“When I was 2 my father died from being gunned down to death I made a promise to myself I would never touch a gun in my life time,” he posted on Instagram.

“I shoot with my right foot so it has a deeper meaning and still unfinished.”

Sterling had initially shared a picture of his new tattoo on Monday as England prepare for this weekend’s clash with Nigeria

Crime / ”I Was A Destroyer Driven By Vengeance Against Men”– Nairobi’s Sex-worker Says by DivinedeGuru: 6:50am On May 29, 2018
”I was a destroyer driven by vengeance against men” – Nairobi’s dangerous commercial sex worker turned preacher confesses

Kenyan preacher, Jane Watiri was one of Nairobi’s popular commercial sex workers in her heyday, earning close to Sh20,000 a night.

According to Watiri, she was a “destroyer,” driven by vengeance against men. She was not on Koinange Street – the city’s red-light-district — just for the money, but also for revenge. She says she turned the heartbreak she suffered when she was betrayed by a man into a personal vendetta against all men.

Now standing tall, slim and stylish, wearing a pricey weave, her self-assured husky voice belies the naive girl who first arrived on Koinange Street in 1997 at the age of 17.

“I was not the average prostitute,” she says, adding, “I was quite dangerous. I used to steal from my clients. I would carry everything; clothes, shoes, phones, keys and even wedding rings which I sold for Sh3,000 in Eastleigh. I used to really mess up those men,” she says.

Born 38 years ago in the capital city’s Huruma Estate, Ms Watiri was the third born in a family of six children. Her parents provided everything she required. Towards the end of her education at Naivasha Primary School, her life took a wrong turn. She got into bad company and refused to join secondary school.

“I had some friends who would take me out to clubs and reggae nights when I was 14,” she recalls.

The teenager then sunk into a life of clubbing and alcoholism as her mother watched helplessly. When she was 16, Ms Watiri was arrested, charged with loitering and jailed at Lang’ata Women’s Prison for a month. When she got out, she met a young man, fell in love, got pregnant and got married.

“One day, he left me for an older woman and there I was, 17 years old, with a baby boy, no education and no job. I was very angry,” she says.

She was in Koinange street seven years: “I wanted to hurt men the way the father of my child did to me. Bitterness and unforgiveness can really destroy your life.”

She says she would change her look weekly so as not to be recognised by clients she had stolen from.

The life of a sex worker, according to Ms Watiri, is punctuated by dangerous clients, drug and alcohol abuse, arrests, disease and death.

While majority of clients would pay for sex, others just wanted to be in the company of a woman and have someone to pour out their hearts to. Others demanded unusual activities and would threaten with guns and other weapons if the sex-workers did not comply. Many of her colleagues died on the job. Some would be killed in hotel rooms and others would get into clients’ vehicles and vanish or be found dead in a ditch.

“I read many eulogies of my friends and attended so burials,” she says.

Getting arrested by police and city council askaris was normal. She appeared before a particular magistrate so many times that one day, he pulled her aside and counselled her but Ms Watiri was not one to listen.

Her turning point was in 2004 when a man told her of God’s love, but she was too drunk to understand.

“In my whole life, I never experienced love and care. The idea of love was very strange. He bought me many bottles of beer and left. Afterwards, I started thinking of changing,” she says.

Not long afterwards, she decided to leave the streets and walked into a church one day and asked the pastor to pray for her.

She then met her second husband, George Mwangi, with whom she had a daughter. She was married to Mwangi, a gangster for five years, until he was killed by police. She says she settled with the gangster because he loved and accepted her as she was, and she hoped that she would change him.

After Mwangi’s death, Watiri opened a second-hand clothes business, but also decided to use her experiences to encourage and motivate other women who are in the same situation she was.

Today, the reformed sex worker is a preacher attached to Streams of Living Water Grace Centre Church in Pipeline Estate. Together with her pastor, Ms Edith Wangui, she offers counselling to sex workers, encouraging them to change.

Many times, you will find her in the company of prostitutes in their homes and on the streets preaching to them.

Her very public life seems to have rubbed her family the wrong way, with many questioning why she is not ashamed of speaking of her dark past.

“My family has an issue with me speaking to the media because it causes them embarrassment. But I tell my story because I know there are people out there who need to hear my story and know that it is possible to change.”

It is not easy dealing with sex workers, she says, because many of whom have lost hope. In spite of her sordid past, Watiri remains optimistic that her dream of getting married to a good man will come to pass. For now, she walks from door to door, saving souls. One sex worker at a time.

On her first night, she recalls, she stood all night on the street, watching and learning how to negotiate with clients. She was taught how to dress, where to alight from the matatu and the route to take from the Khoja Mosque stage to Koinange Street.

Wanjugu also introduced her to security guards who would show her a room to change from her usual clothes into her “work gear”.. On her third night, Watiri got her first client and there began her seven-year stint as a prostitute. She soon fell out with Wanjugu, who died a few years ago, but by this time, her career had already taken off – perhaps beyond Wanjugu’s expectations.

Her seven years on the street, she says, were painful, dark and dangerous. She had a strong hatred for men, and led an utterly bitter and frustrated life, taking out her bitterness on her unsuspecting clients, many of whom she drugged and stole from. Many times she would also drug her baby to make him sleep throughout the night or just leave him to cry himself to sleep.

She would carry two rolls of marijuana, one soaked in petroleum which would knock out the client, and the other one for her, to put her in the mood for work.

“In our days we did not have what people today call mchele . That was the surest way of drugging your client,” she says.

Politics / Photos: Suspects Smile For The Camera After Being Arrested For N7m Fraud by DivinedeGuru: 9:47pm On May 28, 2018
The suspected fraudsters pictured above looked unperturbed as they smiled for the camera moments after they were arrested by officers of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Lagos Zonal office, for offences bordering on obtaining money under false pretences to the tune of over N7, 000, 000.00( Seven Million Naira).

The suspects were arrested at Elomaz Hotel, Maryland, Lagos, following a petition received by the Commission from a complainant.

The complainant alleged that he was approached by one Dr. Lawal Ibrahim, who claimed to be the representative of an American company, Avis Beverages, in Africa for a purported agro-allied business.

He also alleged that he was subsequently introduced to one Dr. Ryan Wood, the purported company’s President, and Alhaji Akeem Olagbaju Jamiu, who also posed as the producer of the commodity.

The complainant further alleged that he was asked to register with the commodity producer with N150, 000.00 and also make a refundable deposit of N350, 000.00

As part of the grand plan to validate their claim, the complainant alleged that he was asked to register a company and acquire necessary documentations, including certificate of ownership, tax certificate, BNI, NAFDAC, Narcotics Control Board and money laundering clearance certificates in furtherance of the business.

The fraudsters were alleged to have also instructed the complainant to register with Avis Beverages with $65,000.00USD once it was clear that he could obtain all the necessary documents.

However, the complainant, through a petition, sought the intervention of the Commission when he became suspicious of the transaction, a development that eventually led to the arrest of the suspected fraudsters.

The suspects will soon be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded

Sports / Official: Liverpool Completes Fabinho Deal by DivinedeGuru: 9:26pm On May 28, 2018
Liverpool have agreed to sign Monaco midfielder Fabinho in a deal that could be worth more than £40m.

The Champions League finalists will sign the Brazil international, 24, on 1 July for around £39m (45m euros).

A further £4m (5m euros) could be added in performance-related bonus payments and Fabinho’s arrival will likely be followed by the departure of Emre Can.

“This is something that I always wanted – this is a giant of a team,” said Fabinho. “I am really excited.”

Fabinho has spent spells playing as a right-back but has excelled in defensive midfield and is viewed as a replacement for Can, who is out of contract this summer and has repeatedly been linked with Juventus,

‘I will try to create history’
The Brazilian, whose deal will begin on 1 July, said the club’s infrastructure looked “exceptional”.

“A football club of this size coming after my services, I didn’t have to think that much about coming over,” added Fabinho.

“I will try to create my own history at this football club. Hopefully, on a personal level, I’m able to win titles with this club.”

Fabinho, who joined Monaco on loan from Portuguese side Rio Ave in 2013, won the French league title in 2016-17.

He has featured heavily for the club since making his loan move permanent in 2015, playing 47 times in all competitions last season and scoring eight goals.

In all, he made 225 appearances and scored 29 goals in five seasons with the French club.

Despite helping Monaco to second in Ligue 1 behind champions Paris St-Germain last season, he did not make Brazil’s 23-man World Cup squad.

He will join another new face in Liverpool’s midfield next term, with Guinea international Naby Keita moving to Merseyside from RB Leipzig on 1 July.

Politics / Jonathan ‘ashamed’ That African Countries Are Now Ridiculing Nigeria by DivinedeGuru: 1:43pm On May 26, 2018
“I feel ashamed as a former President that the President of a neighbouring country used Nigeria as negative examples,” Jonathan said. “If a neighbouring African President will use Nigeria to make negative examples, then we as leaders must know certain things are wrong in the country. That means we, as leaders, must change the way we do things.”

Goodluck Jonathan, former President, says he is ashamed with the state of affairs in the country.

Jonathan made this known in Ado Ekiti on Friday at the inauguration of the 1.4km flyover bridge built by Governor of the state, Ayodele Fayose.

Taking a cue from the recent remarks by the President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo, on the state of security in Nigeria and the fall in the value of the naira, Jonathan said that Nigeria has lost its respect on the continent.

“He [Ghanaian President] said Ghana is not like Nigeria where cattle roam the streets. At another occasion in the United Kingdom, he made scathing remarks about Nigeria’s currency,” Jonathan said.

“I feel ashamed as a former President that the President of a neighbouring country used Nigeria as negative examples.

“If a neighbouring African President will use Nigeria to make negative examples, then we as leaders must know certain things are wrong in the country. That means we, as leaders, must change the way we do things.”

He called on leaders in Nigeria to become more committed to the concerns of the country. He also urged President Muhammadu Buhari not to give in to the pressure to rig the forthcoming governorship election in Ekiti.

Describing Fayose as a loyal party man, he said: “I don’t believe anybody can defeat the PDP in Ekiti if election is going to be held.

“I use this opportunity to call on Mr. President because I was there before. When you are there, there is so much pressure on you to use your power to subjugate democracy.

“Don’t do that because when you are going; the only thing you leave behind is your good name. If you use it wrongly, posterity will haunt you. I call on Mr. President to use his power to strengthen democracy.”

Romance / “I Am Not A Wife Material, I Am Not A Feminist” – Lady Says As She Smokes Shisha by DivinedeGuru: 11:00am On May 22, 2018
A Nigerian lady and sex therapist, Angela Nwosu has revealed on social media why she’s not a wife material. She took to Facebook with pictures of herself smoking shisha and the below lengthy post.

Read her post.

I am not a Wife Material!

All of the pictures I’ve seen on social media depicting wife material are of women cooking alone, doing all of the cleaning and doing their “womanly duties.” Don’t get me wrong, there are two different roles in relationships that one partner will be better at than the other. Me, proudly smoking shisha and not afraid to post it on a platform as big as Facebook, shows that I am not a wife material, I hate that word, with reckless abandon. Girls are forming and pretending, not being themselves, all to be termed a wife material and land a husband living their lives just to please the society and painfully, publicly stand on a morality higher ground, while doing terrible things in secret. The only way I survive on earth is being myself and not what society wants me to be, na only me waka come. And yes, the shisha pot belongs to me.

Friends of mine would be talking about boyfriends they’d had or celebrities they’d like to bed.
