@Ezeagu

the richest nation in the world which we hail as the most democratic has Rhode Island which is clamouring to leave the union called the USA, yet they won't print passports or mint currency first.

I won't lie to you, the man has done well for Libya and Really, I have been listening to our king of kings President Moummar Ghadhaffi for a while now and though I'm not a doctor, but from a medical point of view, I can certify that the mad has lost his mind.

Did y'all see what he surrendered as his Nuclear Program? A bunch of pipes!

I have nothing against the Iranian President, but what has he got to teach us? Hardlining?

I'm afear O!
Politics / Re: Anambra Governorship Tussle: Andy Uba Heads To The Court Yet Again! by dnex(m): 8:38pm On Jul 02, 2009
I really don't know whether it is because of Andy Uba and OBJ that Peter Obi took more than N250 million from Anambra state coffers to build a palace in Lekki, Lagos.

Andy Uba made him do it!

@Ibime

you ignorant lunatic, get the hell off my thread so learned people can come and contribute.

@Kobojunkie

I just wanted to know what meaning the word Biafra carried that it could inspire such passion and fever. That's my offence O! I thought there was a meaning that if translated to the rest of us, we will begin to understand why they act the way they do. Instead, one deranged confusionist is telling me about a bight. Well, at least the fool was sane enough to finally admit he wasn't sure. Is that not madness? When a man isn't sure what he's going haywire about.

Arewa means the north or the upper areas or zone.

Oodua is after the founder of the Yoruba whose original name Izoduwa means "I've chosen prosperity" so Oodua actually means prosperity.

I'm trying to find meaning and understand my agitated brothers and a gang of psychopaths just decided to start trailing and stalking me all over the place.

@Ibime

Mumu pass mumu sha.

So you want to tell me that you don't know what Nigeria means? You dunce!

Niger means black. The river that traversed the areas of the Niggers is the river Niger.

Nigeria is therefore the area around the river that traverses the lands of the blacks.

You pig brained gay, WHAT IS BIAFRA?
Politics / Re: What Really Is Biafra? by dnex(m): 7:06pm On Jul 02, 2009
Benin means annoying.

Really, that's what Bini people are. Annoying people.

From Ile Ibinu which they were named by a Yoruba prince. Then one Oba changed it from From Ibinu to Ubini and another just generally called the whole people Edo to include those of us that are not Binis but part of the kingdom. Edo means love.

I've never said I was Bini though. I'm Edo and I now live in Benin City, by ancient translation, the annoying city.

you airbrained slowpoke, we've not defined what Biafra is, you're adding Bight Of.

If you don't know, walk on by. Don't lengthen my thread with your stupidity.
Politics / Re: Is Nairaland For Biafrans Or Nigerians? by dnex(m): 6:42pm On Jul 02, 2009
He that complaineth about me discussing Biafran issue is full time discussing dnex issues for July. Goes to show that every man has freedom to discuss whatever they deem is relevant to them.

Thanks for making me the subject of your concern, I feel so important. I think you should open a thread on me mikeansy, cos I just opened a thread on Biafra.
Politics / Re: What Really Is Biafra? by dnex(m): 6:27pm On Jul 02, 2009
@Naijaking1

I am admitting I don't know and you're telling me you want to learn from me.

How can I teach what I don't know? You want me to lie, if at 30 I don't know whom you are, you should be worried that you don't know you you claim that you are.
Politics / Re: What Really Is Biafra? by dnex(m): 6:18pm On Jul 02, 2009
I'm yet to see anyone who can run a search engine better than myself.

But if you try to google the meaning of Biafra, you'll most likely find more about the name of the British Pop star, Jello Biafra who was named after war of Biafra.

You say I should research, yet this is my research and those who are Biafrans are hardly providing any answers except for Ezeodum.
Politics / Re: What Really Is Biafra? by dnex(m): 5:32pm On Jul 02, 2009
@mikeansy

I guess you don't visit the Romance and Auto sections on Nairaland much. You never came on the Ogun oath thread, you didn't read about the 10,000 girls from Libya. You never visited the poetry section.

Well, I just want to learn. ie this thread is strictly for intellectual purposes.

Any hypothesis or theory on what that name Biafra means or translates into?
Politics / Re: Is Nairaland For Biafrans Or Nigerians? by dnex(m): 5:23pm On Jul 02, 2009
Nairaland is for everyone. South Africans come here a lot and we don't send them away. And Biafrans claim that they are forcefully trapped in Nigeria so for now they are bona fide Nairalanders.

@mafioso

I hope you know that some of us know what you're talking about when you say you're a DIPLOMAT. Well done O! Continue carrying diplomatic pouch up and down. Continue putting Nigeria to shame and disgrace all over the world, then you will come here and condemn those that don't want to be part of the country that corruption and greed sculpted.

By the way, English please, English.

In as much as I just love the whole Naija togetherness, by the time the people clamouring for it to break up reaches two third of the population or 66.67%, then It's time for all man to face their way. In fact, 51%.

@eina

please exit this thread with your tail between your legs immediately.

Did you not see the topic and know it was beyond what your brain could contribute to before you came unto it to show you ignorance? Ha! This Nairaland has really become something else O!

I've always suspected that this name might be foreign to us. I have searched for the meaning of Biafra since I was a boy, when I first read about the Bicepan war, yet till date I found nothing.

The word has become so powerful in Nigeria though.

But what confuses me is the "Bia" which means come in Igbo/Ibo but I don't know if there's anything like "fra" or any close sounding word with meaning like "vra", "hra" that could could have been corrupted by the Oyibos because they couldn't pronounce it.
Politics / What Really Is Biafra? by dnex(m): 4:32pm On Jul 02, 2009
I'd like to know the meaning of this word it self or some kind of translation. Millions of people seem to be very passionate about Biafra, so I guess if we can be made to understand It's meaning, we will understand the zeal, the passion and the hope that Biafra carries with it.
Politics / Re: Lagos Bars Okada From Highways by dnex(m): 11:39am On Jul 02, 2009
I think it is wrong for the Lagos state government to embark on enlightenment campaign on what a highway is. If someone is plying a vehicle on public roads and doesn't know what a highway is, they should be arrested immediately. Abeg make LASTMA jeun soke.

All the same though, What happens to those bike riders for courier companies. To an extent, they are bikes used for commercial purposes, though they ride carefully.

Unless the government will say no more passenger bikes on highways but right this second, I just remembered those that have power bikes and drive them to work or for fun. This thing has to be phrased properly so it doesn't sound like segregating the poor.

Truth is though, at the end of the day, poor people should leave Lagos: beggars, okada riders, cart pushers, hawkers, roadside sellers, touts, molue drivers, prostitutes and roadside mechanics.
Politics / Re: Anambra Governorship Tussle: Andy Uba Heads To The Court Yet Again! by dnex(m): 11:13am On Jul 02, 2009
Let's be honest here, though Andy Uba is a bad guy, but when they were letting Peter Obi rule for the period he was rightfully voted during a period that Andy Uba had just been voted , I asked this question about whether Andy Uba who won the 2007 will then rule without considering who wins the next elections. The justice that was used to continue Peter Obi's rule should also prevail for Andy Uba.

In fact, I believe just as it happened in Peter Obi's case, immediately Obi's tenure is over, Andy Uba should be sworn in then elections will be held in 2011 instead of 2010 and the winner of that election should wait till 2014 to enter office.

The thing about us Nigerians is that we hail a seemingly good decision without thinking of via long term effects.

Let that criminal Andy Uba have justice too. Unless of course we're saying Andy Uba didn't win the 2007 elections, in which case we should provide the actual winner so that whoever it is will take over.

All I'm saying though is that Andy Uba should be given the same justice that Peter Obi got. Somebody won the 2007 Anambra State elections and that person must have the full 4 year tenure too.
Politics / Re: Rate Yaradua's Government by dnex(m): 10:49am On Jul 02, 2009
Abeg let's stick to rating. There should be another thread to discuss Yar'Adua's performance and suggestions or solutions.

I score the administration -2% because the country is actually moving backwards so I can give a positive score.

-2%.
Politics / Re: Can Nigeria Afford an Igbo President? by dnex(m): 9:28am On Jul 02, 2009
There was a time when the African Americans said that the USA was not their country and they were hiring ships in large numbers in their "Back To Africa" Program.

There was no way other elements of the USA would have handed power over to them knowing full well that they could use that power to fulfil their separatist plans.

Most of the Afro Americans you see today have a different view of life. They have accepted that everything from Africa or of Africa is bad and they are now proud and loyal citizens of the USA. It is therefore the duty of the other tribes or ethnicities in that country to give them some incentive and responsibility to show that their loyalty and partnership despite all odds is appreciated.
Politics / Re: US Warns Nigeria Over Nuclear Technology And Iran by dnex(m): 8:55am On Jul 02, 2009
That Administration in the USA must be crazy to warn or advice us on anything nuclear related.

We all signed the Non Proliferation Treaty and in that document, it says that countries like Nigeria who didn't have nuclear technology should refrain from Nuclear Technology and in return, the countries that already had Nuclear weapons and had advanced deep into nuclear technology will provide the Non-Nuclear nations with all civilian nuclear technology they require including medical and power generation, and also, the nuclear countries will go ahead to start cutting back on their nuclear weapons immediately the NPT was signed so that in the nearest future, all would have no nuclear weapons.

It's been decades since we signed that agreement and though Nigeria and several other nations have kept their own part of the bargain, stay off Nuclear Weapons, but so long as we have waited, none of these countries like USA, Russia, France or the UK have come forward to build us our FREE nuclear power plants. None of them have cut back on their nuclear arsenal, instead we hear of newer more destructive weapons.

So you want to blame India, Pakistan, South Africa, Israel or Iran that went to do things for themselves?

Stay there and keep waiting. I'm sure most of you do not know the benefits associated with signing the NPT if not you will now realise that we are not the ones defaulting. It is actually those on the United Nations Security Council that have refused to live by the document they created.

Well, if the USA is so concerned about Nuclear Weapons, then they should fulfil their obligations as enshrined in the NPT which they basically wrote. Build nuclear power plants in Nigeria, Iran, North Korea, Columbia, Sierra Leone, Jamaica, Cuba, or just SHUT THE HELL UP!!!

I'm from Owan East, born in Kano, where I spent my childhood, lived in Lagos for more than a decade representing Lekki, went to UNIBEN and now I'm back in Benin City.

I've had so much fun in Lagos and I wonder why I'm in another man's state living my life and making things better. Anyway, I'm hoping to see the Edo Facebook Party before the end of the year or am out!

It's nice to meet you all, and I don't usually do this, but my name's Nejeeb.
