soye35: Hey house,i think its of no good for any 9ja family with a better sense of reasoning to go for such that expensive child delivery in the usa ,while back home here in 9ja,u pay nothing,i mean its absolutely free to deliver ur kids here at home,be wise and stop being crazy of having american citizenship,u can better use the thousands of dollars on better things, gudluck.

WOW.. inspirational. it's safe to assume you will turn down an opportunity to further your education in the US or UK right?
Career / Re: Need Advice Between Telecoms And Networking/isp by doxat(m): 2:19am On May 26, 2012
You have more passion for networking, stay with it. every man that has attained and maintained success did so by doing what they had passions for. I've always believed, if you do not have a passion for the job you do, run out of it like you would from a burning house.
it is passion for what you do that will make you go the extra mile to archive success.

See you at the top

when applying for a US visa, you are made to carry out a series of test, one of which is a pregnancy test and you will not be issued a visa primary for the purpose of child birth. A close family friend came to give birth 2 months ago, at point of birth registration she was asked for medical receipts, she was told to have it handy when leaving. she was told in very clear terms that she would be required to produce them at point of exit.

Ops E: It is not true that they carry out a pregnancy test for US visa. Your advise that when you have 2 year multiple visa, one can get preg and travel is also debatable, you can actually be turned back at the point of entry if you were asked about pregnancy during your interview and you said No, because the condition of giving you visa can be referred to and the pregnancy if not disclosed or recorded can lead to entry denial or reduction in your stay. Lastly,I am not aware that you need your receipts when exiting, you only need it when re-applying in the future especially if you use a visitor's visa when you travelled to have your baby to prove that you had your baby in US and paid all your bills fully because failure to prove that can lead to denial.

Na wa. For you this man , you always talk like say na you first de live for usa , am not even sure if you are living a good life there as a matter of fact . Why would you discourage someone ambition . Why di you in the first place no stay in nigeria . Bullshit too full ur head like say na only u de Usa . If you are not involve in any kind of crime am sure you are good to live a nice life in the States so cuf ur crab abt police searching for a guy with no paper . I have seen guys living in usa with no papers for 5year and later got a greencard . Where u de live sef . Who are you . Am sure you are one of those snitch . Don't get caught

you really do not need to get person about this issue, you really are not displaying maturity, if you have a different view from me, make it known. Resulting to name calling is very unethical. The initial poster asked for public opinions, please respect mine. I’m a realist

jaydorc: @doxat u said start up pay..does it increase as time goes on?

Sure, it does with time. you can also get a job of 10dolls/hr, but thats mostly wearhouse. most students rather work in stores or fastfood stores. at the end of the month you should have 550 or more, it really depends on the hours you work

justwise:

My question to you is: what was wrong with doxa's advice to the poster?

All you can come up with is. . . do marriage for paper, what chance does he stand legally in US with student visa but not going to school? That is the issue here.

the Mexicans u talk about do mostly electrical or building jobs, you get paid under the table, and on a DAILY basic dey are being arrested and deported to their country, at the moment, the cost of building and farming has risen in the us, simple because of that, they Mexicans were cheap labor but immigration laws are strict now. about getting married, trust me, its not as easy as it sounds, let me give u a quick run-down:
you come in with a student visa and do not school, you are automatically an illegal immigrant, stays on your record for life, when you get the girl to marry you, you will have to return to Nigeria, your interview will be in Nigeria since you violated ur visa agreement thurs voiding it, and chances are HIGH you will be denned cos you have a messed up record. besides getting married is really easier said, i knw a lot of people here, no papers and havn't got someone to marry them in years, besides its not free, will cost you at least 7000 dolls

jennykadry: What? 7-8 dolls per hour for student job in the US? The people that earn that amount per hour here are 14 yr old and under students sef, you people are kidding me right? Students here make 23 dollars per hour here, Infact he minimum I know of is 18 -19 dollars depending on the job. My husbands relative here earned good money as a student.

What country is that? to earn 23 per hour in the U.S u need to be a graduate working in a good firm, 7.5-8 is the startup pay for highschool cert jobs
Travel / Re: Help From Nigerian Students In US by doxat(m): 10:34pm On Apr 23, 2012
if u get a 7.5 paying job, and work 20 hrs. at the end of 2 weeks u'l make 300 before tax, after tax it will be like 270 or a little above. thing is, once here you'l see things differently. my advice collect all the money you will need from home, saving 2000 on a 7.5 pay is not as mathematical as it seems

mcbertin: I have read all the comments with keen intrest and wants to seek opinion of someone who has gone through this before. I have plans of traveling to US with my husband and my 2year old baby. I also plan to have baby in US and yet to get a visa, is it beeter to tell the consulate officer in Nigeria that we are going on a family vacation or that I am going to have a baby in US.

Candid opinion pls!

if you can show evidence that you can pay for your medical bills, they should, besides a preg test will be carried out so don't think not telling them is an option. most people i knw usually have visa's before the get preg, like get a year or 2 multiple visa, so when preg u don't need go to the embassy. After child birth, keep all your receipts well, it will be required of you at point of exit from the US. if you alone apply for a visa, you will be granted cos your family is back home, the whole family wanting to leave will raise a red flag! but seriously, dos guys at the embassy are so unpredictable, depends on the person interviewing you. all the best

Bb life: Pls need to be enlighten. If i enter usa wt student visa and i didn't go to d school, i mean diverting and joining my relative what cld be d pros and cons? House pls

you really don't want to do that, you will be totally useless in the US, will not be able to work or school, as u have no social security number, worst is you stand the risk of being deported once discovered. a law has been passed in the US that empower law enforcement to stop you at any any point in time and request to see your i.d. trust me bro, being in the US without proper documentation is not something you want to do

nifty: deji u mean i can transfer just for final year?nd are u coming back really soon to finish uni?or ur just gonna take transfer

i would advise against you starting again, means all the years you've spent will be a waste. it's possible you transfer, you mit however have to be in for more than a year, maybe 4 semesters, that’s less than 2 years, cos there are courses that will be required which mit not have be treated in Nigeria, agian any grade less than a C cannot be transferred. when checking out schools, look under transfer student, the required GPA is dependent on the department and the school you are applying to

You sure seem to be loving the experience, got in here last year and had the same feel. First thing you need do is apply for your SSN, office at morrow, the earlier you get that started the earlier your life here begins, should take 3-4 weeks, during which all you can do is seat at home and try not to get bored...... all the best
