Family / Re: Is Watching Pornography Considered Cheating? by DSB(m): 10:25pm On Nov 04, 2013
shymexx: It's not cheating but definitely a pain in the ar.se!

But what's the point of watching porn, anyway?

You're just giving yourself blue-balls over thing.

Shyte, I know I'll never meet any woman with a batty as big, fat, soft, and round as Cherooke D'a.ss' - and definitely no chic that can ride and suck the django like her. So why bother watching her and fantasizing over something I can never get?

Gave up on porn time ago - do the same, bruv.

Blue-balls kills!! cool

hehehehhe...dude must have invested his time heavily in this sh*t to even know the star actresses....But who doesnt know Cherokee?...loooool...May God help us

babyosisi:

Thank you
I wrote that earlier
I know someone a Nigerian who worked in a few banks here as loan and mortgage officer ,got laid off when the economy tanked in 2008, he tried his hands in other things and was just scrapping by
He is very handy ,you know the type of guy that can figure out what is wrong with a car and how to fix it and decided to go blue collar.
He got into a truck driving school for a few weeks ,got a commercial drivers license and is now making over $30 bucks an hour.
I know a Nigerian that owns a mechanic work shop
People who are handy can make a good living

Please be a little bit more detailed about what you did and how you did it
You could help someone who is already here wasting time

My job falls under OPTION 3 from Wallie's post. I have my papers and hold a B. Eng from Naija. After failing to get a job with my Bachelors I proceeded to do some telecoms training which helped me secured my current job (Idea came through a Nigerian I met on Linkedin). But I don't wanna be on contract forever so I'm doing my Masters in IT security so I can settle down in a couple of years. It is way easier to hustle while you are single. It is challenging to combine work and school but the gains outwiegh the pain in the long run.

http://www.telecomcareers.net/ is a nice place to advertise yourself. Green card is a deal breaker though.

Osisi and Eze are doing a great job with this thread. However, there are also opportunities for you if you are good with your hands. Vocational skills are paid well here. Plumbing, house flipping, electrician etc....So don't be biased towards the bluecollar, if you aint that bookish, you still have a chance.

NOTE: The number of years someone you know has spent in the US does not translate to them perfectly knowing about the system. I am talking from experience. Do your own research and do not 'look unto anyone for help'. Some people do help but most only talk with no action. Independence is a veritable tool in the US. You might be lucky to have friends or family that will help but still have it at the back of your mind that you are on your own.

I wasted almost 2years because I was waiting to be helped. when I realised I was on my own, I sped up real fast. It is my 3rd year and I have a good job (a little less than 90k/yr) and running my msc by the side. Most importantly, plan ahead and do not let anyone sweettalk you into not pursuing your dreams. You can be anything you wanna be in this country.

Goodluck

Afam4eva:
I think that's the reason why Babyosisi advised someone going into media to look elsewhere because of the accent baggage.

This is not completely valid. There is 'who knows who in America too' and I have dealt with people with crazier accent than mine while working in the US. So you can still get a 'communication' job with your accent if you know your onions. However, you have better chances with the 'non-communication' jobs

Religion / Re: Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo Of COZA In Sex Scandal by DSB(m): 2:59pm On Aug 23, 2013
Now it is time for all church pastor bashers to start running their mouth. See, even if this story is true, which i doubt, it does not change the fact that God has used, is still using and can continue to use Pastor Biodun to bless those who care to listen to his message far and wide. Afterall, Moses pastored Caleb and Joshua but never made it to the promised land.

I love listening to Pastor B (online) and will be highly disappointed if this is confirmed to be true. I can only hope that some investigative journalists will eventually get to the bottom of this and unmask Ese.

Sports / Re: Your Assessment Of Keshi's Team To The Confederations Cup? by DSB(m): 6:33am On Jun 24, 2013
With the number of forwards missing through injury..I believe that our attacking prowess will improve. Emenike and Moses will make a whole lot of difference. Musa needs a Wenger in his life. Ideye needs serious help (incl spiritual...lol)

In midfield, Mikel outshined them all. He reminded me of his exploits at the U-17s and U-20s. I wish he never joined chelsea. Onazi would have provided better fire power with Mikel. Mba was disappointing.

I am not impressed a bit with the Defence especially CBs - they are slow, non-communicating and inexperienced. The wing backs were a little more comfortable.

Overall, the 'team' lacked enough teamwork and awareness of teammates in better positions. Keshi has a lot of room for improvement if we are to make a return trip to Brazil next year.

Romance / Re: Start As Friends Or Declare Your Intentions From Start? by DSB(m): 1:26am On Apr 15, 2013
It pays to start as friends, at least from my experience. My current gf is a rare one. We started talking and got to know more about each other. After 2 weeks or so, she was like, dude what exactly do you want? Cos she can't afford to LOVE UP and I decide to stay in the friend zone. The rest is history. smiley
Romance / Re: Start As Friends Or Declare Your Intentions From Start? by DSB(m): 1:20am On Apr 15, 2013
djeezy: Some girls are just good at friend zoning guys. So for me, it's just an amalgam of both. Starting as friends whilst I still give you inklings and hunch of my hidden agenda. If she already digs you, starting as friends might just piss her off. Observation really matters.

Travel / Re: The State Of The Nigerian Embassy In The United States by DSB(m): 12:56am On Mar 10, 2013
My close friend went to the 'DC embassy' to renew her passport during one of their visits to a midwest state. Guess what, one of the guys at the embassy went through her data and called her the same evening asking if she wanted to hang out with him. She bluntly refused. Lo and behold, when the passport came in her mail, her name was misspelt. She then called the DC office to complain. They took her details and promised to call her back. Few minutes later, our guy (he probably picked the phone initially) called back and told my friend that she's got to come over to DC and also pay another 35 or 50dols for their own mistake. This is just ridiculous. And I am suspecting he might have misspelt her name intentionally.

*I am ashamed to say that the guy is yoruba cos I am one too.

If anyone knows somebody else who works at the DC embassy that can help, pls let me know. NB:The person must not be a yoruba guy (if you know what I mean)
