Health / Re: Misconceptions About People Living With Sickle Cell Disease by eahk(m): 11:07am On Jul 20, 2013
@ OP this so great of you..
My beautiful wife is a warrior and even as I type she's in crisis and pregnant and I just gave her IV painkiller..(I'm a doctor).
Thanks for correcting all those misconceptions about warriors..the pain, d stigma, the 'you-will-soon-die' look people give them..the fights with my parents and siblings..but through it all God has been soooo good to us.
And she's a mega-strong woman..and when I tell people where she works they envy her considering her status.

Don't let anyone stigmatize you or even look donw on yourself..its just a condition not a death sentence.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Medical Job Vacancies At Chevron Lagos, Warri And Escravos by eahk(m): 5:48pm On Jun 17, 2013
delors: The reason why that vacancy was advertised is because it is the law that such vacancies must be made public to attract interested and qualified candidates. The truth is, the position is already occupied. So, few hours to the expiration of the advert, the company would post the advert just to fulfill that legal requirement, knowing that applications that would come through given that short window would be rushed up or none would ever come through because there is no time to prepare a sound resume. That is what is done in all those top companies. the only ones that stay open and are almost genuine are the entry level jobs for inexperienced graduates etc Everything is a big scam in Nigeria. Big big scam.

Come on!!! How can you talk like this..its still very open..and CVs are coming in and are been screened..this is where I work...quit been a wet-blanket...haba!

Politics / Re: Tinubu Lied In London- Presidency by eahk(m): 10:18am On Jun 14, 2013
We Nigerians..we are the architect of our own misfortune.
Tinubu is a liar..fine but what he said about Jonathan's inability is it true or not?
Why am I even asking..no be all of us dey inside am dey feel am so.
He doesn't need to even say it..Nigeria has never had it this bad.
Fact is they respect him and his opinion enough to want to listen to him speak..liar or not..na una sabi..at least he didn't pay to be invited to address the House

Gosh!..governance has attained a brand new low.
Whoever want to criticise let them criticise but prove them wrong by your deeds not by sending someone to reply every poo with a bigger poo..isn't there enough problem for presidency to handle than make out time to reply every critics..no matter how good or bad you are you'd be criticised even as a common man with no nametage or office much the president.
How did we get to this stage sef..and someone said its not GEJ that's replying Ribadu, who's Abati holdimg forte for?
We need someone with verbal intelligence and emotional stability among other things to rule us..anything below that is trash!
I wonder how some people run there homes..your wife nags at you ..you nag back I guess..jeeeez..I tire!
Family / Re: Bride Failed To Show-Up For Wedding In Ekiti by eahk(m): 11:40pm On Jun 09, 2013
SMH!!!!!...women and pity party.
I hope you guys know whatever shit the runaway bride threw at the guys face by absconding, double of it goes to her..she will be forever labelled..so will her family and those associated with her.
Why didn't she just trash the whole wedding ceremony and save herself, her family and friends the shame and humiliation.
WOMEN!!!..They think about something, say another thing, and do a thing that is completely different from the first two.

We have learned, not from women's words, but from their actions.
Career / Re: I'm Considering Leaving Medicine - Please Advise by eahk(m): 3:17pm On Jun 05, 2013
Milito: My Brother I understand how you feel. A lot of people at one time or the other have been in your shoes and have come out of this kind of situation better focused and more equipped for life.

Instead of going out-rightly for another degree in Pet Engineering which will cost u a lot in respect of time, energy, finance & your emotions sef. Just try and do a MSc in a field that relates to Medicine but not to the core.

You may consider MSc. Occupational Health and Safety. After doing that coupled wt some other professional courses in Health, Safety and Environment, you may still find yourself in the Petroleum industry or any other industry/manufacturing organisation.

Going back to do another Bachelor's degree after studying medicine for so many years is going to stress u out especially if u are in Nigeria. I pray it should not go and break u sef sad . Doing it abroad may be less stressful.

1000000 likes for you..that's exactly what I did and God has been faithful..he doesn't need to go the whole haul.
All he needs is an MSc in Occupational healh/occupational medicine/Health Safety and Enviroment & come out with good grades and keep your eyes on your targets its gonna help you know where you'd concentrate as you go thru your postgraduate and by God's grace you'd get to your target.
But be ready to start small..and before you know it you'd get there. And I'm sure your passion will drive you to succeed.

Funny thing most people didn't know is that the family of the crew members were paid 50,000naira and a coffin was bought for burying the deceased..nothing more.
The airline said their crew were not insured..I was shocked..I know this cos my wife worked there.
Thank God she's moved to somewhere better
Travel / Re: How Long Have You Lived In Diaspora & When Are You Returning Home? by eahk(m): 2:58pm On May 25, 2013
Really home is where your heart is but coming home years after internship and medical board wasn't hard cos I'd made up my mind that no matter what if we all keep saying naija is bad and we all want to relocate those people will get tired and start seeing you as competition ( I know wetin my eye see when I want to get a place for my medical residency).
The facilities are really good and the society is sane no doubt but we can get to that point too with just a little from me..and a little from you.
It might not be in my time or even in my childrens time but it will start from me and that apart I want my children to be able to have a feel of both world just as my parents did for me, the choice to now settle where is up to them. But at least in appreciatting what works and seeing what doesn't work they can bring about the needed change and make things work.
I came home immediately after my residency and I got a good job..and then better ones came too and I'm doing fine. And my wife, a Flight crew with an international airline still makes her been a Nigerian a known fact wether they like her or hate her, no matter how yellow her skin becomes.
A lot of my friends want to come back too but they are apprehensive but truth be told no matter how many years you spend there you will be linked to this country, your children will have the same link..so also your wife and there's nothing you can do about it. Wether you become a champion in your field or a terrorist..you'd always have a prefix or suffix that is Nigerian.
My own principle is 'if I'm crawling now a time will come when I'd be walking'.

KwoiZabo: undecidedThough I don't support amaechi's re-election this signature is just 14 which still confirms amaechi's victory. I sensed that amaechi will win not b'cos the Gov.s like amaechi but they voted against a perceived control of gov.s by the presidency (which I know GEJ don't do) & opposition Gov.s will do anytin to discredit GEJ govt. This is in no way the perception of nigerians b'cos GEJ has over 70% approval rating and anybody that doesn't like GEJ now is an enemy of progress and a corrupt gov.

70% approval rating..please!!!!
If this is what you call progress please I'd rather stay stagnant.
Gosh!

Davo93: Ondo peepz are brillant sharpz... Congrats to my cousin, i'm proud of you Tinuade.

Yeah, I remember when I first met her in 2005, through her Sisters Modele (that sings) and Monisola (who also had a First Class in Biochemistry from UI and very good friend too) she was so shy and she kept asking me questions about Med School and the medical profession ( I was doing my Housemanship then) and her sis told me they are enrolling her in Ghana or UK.
I'm so proud of her...her sisters were in tears..so full of joy when I called to confirm.
Hardwork pays!

Well funny thing is having SCD is not a death sentence. I'm a Doctor married to an SS ( one of the most beautiful woman in the world ) and I never knew she was cos we were friends for a long time until when we got serious and she came out to tell and it never changed a thing. And its funny when I hear people look at those with SCD as walking corpse..gosh that's so wrong, we need to change our mindset.
They can live as long as any healthy person with adequate care and more importantly love and support.
And with her use of Hydroxyureas she's been almost crisis free..except for very extreme exhaustion from work which we all experience.
Trust me even someone who's AA without love and support will die prematurely.
I must add she's not just beautiful, she's very healthy and takes care of me the AA dude!
And if I tell you where she works your jaw will drop considering she's SS and she's top of the notch!
And you can not over-emphasize the importance of getting to know your genotype, its life-saving.
And please cos someone is SS shouldn't be a reason to stigmatize them..like someone said its not an infection its a condition.

Travel / Dana Air Did Not Insure Any Of Their Crew Members And Therefore Not Eligible For by eahk(m): 3:54pm On Feb 20, 2013
From a very close source and an insider, I was told that Dana Air did not pay any compensation to the families of its crew member that died in the ill fated aier craft of June 3rd 2012. That all they got was a coffin and 50k.
My findings further reveal that the present crew were made to work beyond their schedule and any complaint was treated with threat by the cabin crew services manager one Mrs M Kings who the Indian owner use as a hound dog to arm twist the flight crew.
I asked other operators and was made to know that their cabin crews are insured. I wonder why Dana, its oweners in connivance with some low life Nigerians will let that kind of stuff happen.
Romance / Xmas Shopping: Lots Of Confusion But We Love It. by eahk(m): 8:00am On Dec 09, 2012
When the salesperson asked me Catherine's size, I said I don't know. I honestly don't. I know I can wrap my arms around her and her hand fits nicely in mine. But her dress size? I never inquired, shame on me!
'How does she compare to me' she asked. There's only one answer, 'She's thinner' I thought but I considered a more direct answer 'She is less of you'..or a complimentary one 'You are more of her'... Finally I said Estee Lauder.. She pointed me in the direction of the perfume department but I knew better than to enter. I would try the purse. Thought that would be easy. What could be complicated about choosing a tool for holding money and cards. I've used the same wallet for 4 years. What would be difficult about buying a purse?
Oh, naïve soul that I am. Tell an attendant in the men's department you want a wallet , and you'd be taken to a small counter next to the cash register. Your only decision is black or brown.
Tell an attendant in the ladies department that you want a purse and you are escorted to a room. A room of shelves. Shelves with purses and bags. Purses and bags with price tags. Small but potent price tags..prices so potent they should remove the the need for a purse or even a bag.
Phew, what a day, the things we do to give gifts to those we love !
Not only do we enter unusual places but do unusual things.
And we'd do it again and again. Having pressed the grapes of service, we drink life's sweetest wine-the wine of giving. We are at our best when we are giving.
To all those men who are already buying and saving to buy gifts for those who means so much to them this Christmas, I give my utmost respect and to the women, don't save your love for us till Xmas, love goes on if you give on..everyday!
Let me be the first to say Merry Christmas friends.
