I am sure we would have to share you Solar innovations if you don't mind. However i suspect some very significant costs. Maybe you could brief us on wind turbines?
Keep it up!

@Microgiant
In response to Pito's query you mentioned the marine dish (46 Cm?). Their advert looked good until i noticed they kept specifying Europe and North America, and then special receiver and special LNBs and then some more. Less than 50 Cm? even 60 cm dish is giving us problems here how much more 46? I beg make dis Oyibo people lef we make we hear word!

Happy 49th Birthday!!! Hey, Those of you with access to GTV I am sure you saw the public probe on the Ghana @50 Celebrations. Be careful! Get receipts for everything or Baba Stand Still will get you!
Good Luck.
@Salamander
Thanks, I wish we would learn how to change boards on these darned receivers i no longer have space in my house for receivers!
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread of Free-to- Air Satellite TV [part 3] by Ecowas4All(m): 3:29pm On Sep 30, 2009
@Jayron
Please take a look here hxxp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hose_clamp and you will see the sort of hose clamps that are used to attach multiple LNBs to the focal area of a Dish. This is usually done on a big dish though because smaller dishes would have a smaller focal area or focal point. Fortunately i noticed you have a 2.4 pan dish.
You could use an 80cm for madagascar but it will be tricky nailing that bird, try a 90 cm its much easier.
Regards and Good luck

@Salamander
Thanks For The Call. Got me back to the site.

@Jujukemist
I think Pito meant re-aligning the dish once they got into port. I am yet to see any line of site network operate dynamically i.e. on moving platform. To do this you must use a different technique not line of sight. FTA as we know it is line of sight.
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread of Free-to- Air Satellite TV [part 3] by Ecowas4All(m): 9:27am On Aug 24, 2009
@Baba
I Beg Baba, It appears to me that Ayu made an effort and maybe deserves an answer to his not so obvious bad signal from combining 18 Volts and 13 Volts (H and V polarities on the same network).

@Ayu
Please make sure that not more than one receiver terminates each LNB. In other words only one receiver should be attached to each LNB. However You may attach many LNBs through a DiSecq Switch to One Receiver. Now split your signal to another location (Room or another house altogether) by looping through your RF network at the back of your receiver.

Each time two receivers try to shoot voltage of different ranges through the same LNB it will give you that error.

Hope that helps and as Baba said if you do go back to Season 2 you will find that this issue has been delt with extensively. I only decided to answer here again because you are coming from East Africa, I Just Love Addis and Nairobi!

And welcome to the Family!

Funny How these days any cool thing that comes up appears to be on MPEG4. When are we going to get an MPEG4 receiver for less than 80 USD?

@CaptainUS,
My Respect. One Love.
Very Long Time Indeed.

@Dorg3
Splitter is from 1 LNB to multiple receivers.
In your case you want multiple receivers to multiple TVs:
Answer: Dump all signals on an Rf network which feeds all TVs.
One Love!
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread of Free-to- Air Satellite TV [part 3] by Ecowas4All(m): 10:44am On Aug 12, 2009
Hi Dorg3
"Yes You Can" Share 2,3,4 or any number of decoders to as many TV Sets. Simply broadcast this on an RF network you create yourself.
Connect all your decoders from the LNB source normally as if you were doing it with seperate TV sets.
Next, out of each RF out behind your receivers connect a co-axial cable into the TV antenna of each of the TV sets you would wish to broadcast to.
Re-Scan the TV sets and Voila! your stations are on specific channels on your TV

Dorg3 I am sure this question has been answered way back, newbies should make the effort to go back so we avoid repeating.

Regards to all my old friends in the house.

@F_Marshal
Great Work on that cuptenna! Here are some suggestions to increase signal:
Use a metalic cup it will boost signal within the cylindrical interior onto the LNB. Be careful though about Grounding because if your dish is not grounded, Gbah!!! Lightening don Fire that dish be dat!
As space man suggested, you must ensure that the Focal Point still falls inside your cup adaptor.

@Spaceman
The principle about the diameter and length is simple the LNB length should be such that the back is aligned to the quarterwave length there's plenty of stuff online about that, just google cantenna.

@Nash
Yes indeed this is rocket science do not forget that without rockets we would have none of these satellites to gun for.

@Salamander
Remember my Kitchen Cooking Foil Signal Booster? It works on the same principle although that is the Prime Focus Version. So all who wanna try signal boosting if you do Prime Focus Your Booster should be on the Dish Lip while the Offset guys use the cylindrical or conical booster.
I'll try putting up pictures later if i can make time from this Ghost life i am now living.

@Someone who needed an RF to Coaxial Connection for Sat Receiver:
Have no fears, simply buy an Alkad RF pin (about 0.5 Ghana Cedis or 1 Ghana Cedi) instead of the usual cheap black one (0.1 Ghana Cedi or 10 PesewaS) most people use for their speakers. This RF pin has a metallic top sheath that will hold the mesh of your coaxial cable (negative) while the copper in the white foam of the cable fits snuggly into the screw clamp. At the LNB end of your installation just install with the normal F-Connector.

@Sathob
Your baby's property is still in my house oh!

@Gangsta 101
Ah! Gangsta na wah for you oh! since page 1 of this season 3 where you promised a detail configuration of the ATX PSU Car battery charger todate i have not seen the detailed description. I have been waiting, kindly comply. My interest though would be to move the alternator out of the car into the house so you don't have to keep changing batteries in your car. Obviously You would need some wind contraptions to do that or perhaps your sport bicycle.
thumbs up!

Please just key in the frequencies you obtained into the Sirius 4 or any other satellite name for that matter. The box is a machine it does not read the name label.
As long as you have the right Frequency and SR/polarity combination on the right elevation and azimuth Gbam! You will see green.
So have no fears!

Hi There, No matter how much i try i don't seem to be able to make the time these days. I am now paying for all the hours i spent on nairaland last year and early this year. My boss is tasking me to run processes that would otherwise have taken months to complete within 3 weeks. I have spent time revisiting my software development skills. Apache, PHP & MySql have now taken my full attention.
Fortunately the wife has shown understanding thus far.
I look forward to the pics on your flat bar though.

@Sathob.
I hope the naming ceremony went well. Called last night but you didn't pick up. I had some key soap, I am so out of touch, don't know what people usually bring to naming ceremonies.

@All,
There Must be a reason why Enitan paid so much attention to the base of his mount. I lost my actuator yesterday thanks to some serious wind which rocked Accra. It picked my dish, raised it head and shoulders high and then laid it to rest. I was asleep, funny how the mind works, when i heard the noise, i woke up, without getting out of bed i knew within me that i had lost the installation! I crept to take a peep through the bathroom window and lo! There was my dish almost winking at me through the rain.
Thats how much i have suffered!

So i am currently without my motorised dish.
