Travel / Re: Stripped Completely By British Immigration Officials by edoyakk(m): 2:46pm On Aug 26, 2008
This is sad, but we can’t continue to talk about it and blame everyone about things.
We have the tradition of making nothing… with the exception of noise! it happened to this ladies and it can happen to the rest of us or our mum's, sisters, wives e.t.c.
I started out being bothered with myself, but after going thru the thread I realized this will be horror for me if any woman I knew closely was subjected to this.
I guess this has happened to a lot of our women already, I can see a lot of us are concerned but we blame the Nig govt, the British govt, the British people or the customs officers or immigration officers.
It is time we started to be proactive let’s do something about it in this forum you can tell by the quality of postings we have different professionals talking here.
Let’s start to suggest solutions and stop talking about the problems let the lawyers on this thread advice us on next steps let the activists gather us …let the social networkers harness the power of the internet and bring this to the whole world. Even Seun has become a very powerful person in this country or world sef. See who he can reach so easily.
Everybody here doing a little thing can actually contribute to the bringing down of this degradation of our women/people. Let’s act. Let’s take them by surprise. Let everyone not just talk about this problem but also post a suggestion.
Who is in the Nigerian govt? Is it not us? Who is in the police? Why do we talk about govt and all this other guys like they are not us? It’s as if it’s Nigerians versus govt.

Music/Radio / Re: How To Start A Songwriting Career? by edoyakk(m): 7:30am On Aug 08, 2007
The best surgeon is not the richest surgeon neither is the best engineer the richest engineer!
I am sure we all can make better tasting rice and chicken than we pay so much for in most eateries especially Mr. Biggs!.
When it comes to business that is definitely not  what matters

The music business is a business like any other business.
There are so many parts in the music industry.
Even songwriting can be broken down into so many different categories as well.
So you need to breakdown as much as possible till you have a very simple straightforward vision of the kind of songs you want to write,

When you have what it is you want to offer you have to know what obtains in that area of songwriting, what I’m saying here is that you need to study your competition real hard!
You need to take out a lot of time to do this,

You actually need to do a lot of planning because if you fail to plan…you plan to fail.
I know it is possible for you to try and try different things till you make it but then listen to this Alex Hailey took almost 13 yrs of his life to write the book “roots” he was wretched he was alone and he suffered greatly during this period (you should read his autobiography and other auto’s as well)
My point being you can get to the prize in a shorter time if you spend more of your time in planning.
Planning is also not wandering around, and there many are tools you will need to assist you.
…, to be continued

Career / Re: Project Management by edoyakk(m): 8:35pm On Jun 15, 2007
Hello Prosper,
I have attached an article to this document, I am sure you will find it very helpful.
If you need more information about project management you can write me at kajewole@abrpm.com. I am a certified Project manager. (PMP)
Like nferyn said your purpose is not clear it would help a lot if you rephrased your statement.

@lioness
A project is an initiative that has the following characteristics:
Has a specific purpose
Creates specific results
Has a definite start and finish date
Is temporary.

Project management is the application of information, skills tools and techniques to activities involved with a project in order to meet project needs.

Nferyn
I don’t agree with the statement you made about Prince2 scaling to all kinds of Projects, Firstly you can’t have worked on all kinds of projects, and for me I have worked on a few projects ranging from deploying software to sales/marketing projects.
We achieved “concrete achievements’ bear in mind that some people don’t even use either methodology and still achieve concrete results.
Using either methodology simply greatly increases your chances of success, As a Project manager what I look out for is the “iron triangle” or the “triple constraint” which are Cost Scope & Time.
If I can deliver to my client his expectations within a budget and within a specific time limit we both agree, I have done a high quality job.
PMI defines Quality as “adherence to requirements”

@Skybaba
I totally agree with what you said about you working in a field you love.
Your classification of some project managers as Non- technical is not a classification I have come across before. A good project doesn’t have to be a subject mater expert. To get the Pmp certification you have to learn 44 processes. In so many of this processes you will find ot that the Pm is supposed to deal with SME’s Subject matterExperts. This is referred to as expert judgment.
On any Project so many expertise and skills are needed E.g. in construction you need builders architects electricians painters surveyors e.t.c on a single project more than 50 different experts might come in so how does the pm having one or all the skills help? It’s a misconception.
Mind you the PMP certification is American and so many American firms are in the u.k and the rest of the world are you saying all these companies also use Prince 2 I doubt it
