Travel / Re: Nigerians And Fake Accent by Elmos: 9:28pm On Jun 29, 2013
Lilimax: I detest fake accents. I only speak their accent(American) when I'm in their midst but always speak my Nigerian English(especially pidgin)when I'm in the midst of my Nigerian friends. There is no need of faking it... smiley
I reside in North East of United State, the accent here is far different from those from the south. I could speak like British but, even with my years of staying here in US i Can not speak with their accent, I have decided to stick to my Nigerian way of speaking, they too should learn how to speak like me. Initially, it was difficult, with my degree from Nigeria some were asking me if I speak English, such questions made me then furious, but with time I understand that they could not understand my accent. Also so many things are not call the same thing, what you call booth of your car here is call something else same apply to many things, I once wrote in my business card, " Adjacent to" I was advised to changed it to "OPPOSITE TO" Tell somebody to Reverse his or her car here, will be wasting your time for they will not understand. If you stay very close to the ORIGINAL black American, particularly the uneducated ones, it would be worse talking to them, they simply don't talk they literally sing, everything to them is slang. One keep saying to me " Hi fuuu" I was agree with him while will he be calling me fool, but later I realized he was actually me " Hi folk"

I know the man in question, he is a good man, I might not have the exact figure, but I know He has given more than 2000 scholarship to indigent student, for sure their prayer from different angle must have prompt God to send the old man angels to rescued him. He is an High Chief in Ondo Kingdom, the forth-in Command to the Osemawe of Ondo Kingdom After LISA, JOMU he is next, currently there is no LISA after the demise of Bayo Akinnola, the father of the Communication minister a few weeks ago. I don't know why we are reacting to this proposal in this way,if they see to it and pass it as law, then we are in the right direction. Central government in Nigeria control so many things, which ordinarily ought not to be, our rail system, prison, health, policing, public schools which ought to be the functions of states and local government, while the central government should only be concern with the currency, defense, foreign affairs and immigration. This is the way it is done in places where we copy our own system of government from.

Celebrities / Re: Saka Porting To MTN Was A Mistake - Etisalat Boss by Elmos: 2:48pm On Jun 07, 2013
TechyGuy: The guy is just talking to ease the effect the ad had on Etisalat. Inside information/statistics shows that MTN is gaining from MNP more than any other network and Etisalat is the biggest looser so far.
Many people don't understand how the market in Nigeria works.
You would be shocked to know that more people have ported out of Etisalat to MTN than between any other network.

The stats show:

MTN gaining (with more porting in from Etisalat than Glo and Airtel)
Airtel comes 2nd.
Glo is pretty much same (port in and port out, is pretty balanced).
Etisalat has lost more customers, to MTN and Airtel.

That's why they are trying to do damage control. They goofed big time, thinking media hype among youth immediately translates to popularity.

With all respect, am not currently reside in Nigeria, but I read Nigeria news everyday and listen to Channels News at 10 everyday, so am more or less into the knowing back home. My investigation from a very reliable contact person, he work at high level cadre in one of the telecom companies, told me emphatically that ETISALAT and AIRTELL are getting more. I believe him, he is in a vantage position to know, this guy earn over 5m a month, so that will tell more about his knowledge about what is going on there.

I don't like his way of administration, I left his party, but as a smartest governor politically, he takes the lead, his name is ABDULRAHAMAN MIMIKO of State of Ondo. When he first presented himself for office back in the days, he was told that they needed a responsible man, that is a married man, and then he was not married, the discussion was on a Monday, and on Wednesday, he was at the meeting again with his wedding certificate, smartness number 1. Segun Adegoke was nominated to be the Governorship candidate of AD in Ondo state in 1999, but being an Ondo Man like Adegoke, he knows once Adegoke becomes a Governor he will never be again, courtesy of Senatorial rotation, he pitched ADEGOKE and Against the party leadership while he was sponsoring ADEFARATI (He sold his father's house in Yaba in Ondo town) became the most powerful cabinet member of ADEFARATI government.Smartness number 2. He was known and Address as Rahman Mimiko, but knows that Ondo will never vote for a Muslim as their Governor he changed faith and remove Rahaman and replaced it with Olusegun. Smartness number 3. He played TINUMBU and OBASANJO, and got the support of both enemies and much more.

T.Y Danjuma was one of the culprits on the list and he happens to President Jonathan's role model. Jonathan said it himself that T.Y Danjuma was his role model as a politician.

I don’t like joining issue with my brothers and sisters back home, I sincerely get amused with the way we argue here, I think is high time we stopped arguing on sentiment if we really deserve change we all eager to see in our beloved country Nigeria. Earlier today I was in an African Restaurant just to have the feel of home again, and the issue of Buhari prop up, fellow Nigerian in the restaurant at the restaurant argued for and against Buhari for reason ranging from being a an Islamic bigot to being an ex coupist, nevertheless, all agreed that Buhari is not corrupt and fearless. To me these two attribute are all we need now at this point and time in our nation march to true democracy. With the mess already on ground, this is not the time to entrust Nigeria into the hand of a rookie president, who might have good intention but lack the experience to deal with a complex nation like Nigeria as it is currently. Sincerely speaking am holding forth for Buhari, but at this time, we need a person like him who has the experience and boldness to confront bourgeoisie who are milking our nation to the bone, since he is not part of them, we should put aside our religion belief and try for once to say no to those who are stealing our national wealth while pointing our attention to what divide us. We are the 99%, let for once say NO to the 1% who are instigating us against yourself for their selfish interest.
For record purposes, Neither Muritala Mohammed / Obasanjo nor Buhari/ IdiAgbon ever planned / carried out coup, they were invited to take over after the coup, IBB was the coupist. This is a fact that can be verified. Long live our Nation Nigeria and God bless our land

Politics / Re: Suggestions For Credible Alternatives To Jonathan In 2015 Elections by Elmos: 5:31pm On Jan 10, 2013
afam4eva: Here are some people that i think can cause a change either for the better or for the worse:

1) Donald Duke: This guy was probably the first governor to seperate himself and his state from the rest of the country as far as development is concerned. He made his state capital the most talked about city in Nigeria and his tourism structures the most admired in the federation. This mind has a tourist orientation which may not be unconnected to his being a member of the grail message. I think a vote for this man is a vote for serenity and tourism.

2) Babatunde Fashola: I've been one of the people that have put this guy on his toes. This is not because i feel he has not achieved but because i feel he can do better. Prior to his ascension to the position of the number one position on Nigeria's most populous state, the state was run like a mushroom state and there was chaos and incivility but since he came in, he's proven to political students and the populace that a city like Lagos can be sane and orderly. A vote for Fashola is a vote for civility and orderliness.

3) Rochas Okorocha: Even though this man is relatively new in the governorship seat of Imo state, his body language and utterance together with what he's achieved as the pioneer of the Rochas foundation, it can be concluded that this man is someone who loves his people. he really doesn't care about anything else as long as he can fend for the people he governs. many have called him Father Christmas because of his benevolent disposition which can be seen in the way he became the first governor in Nigeria to declare free education up to the tertiary level. A vote for Rochas is a vote for the common man.

4) Buhari: I voted for this man in 2011 because i didn't see status quo written on his forehead. He's his own man and not tied to anybody or any political structure. Infact he's a Maverick. He can do and undo. He's someone that can turn Nigeria's situation for the better or for the worse. He's a no nonsense person with an authoritarian background. A vote for Buhari is a vote for the destruction of the status quo.

This is the best analytically balanced submission. Good buddy

Nothing can ever carry me to this man's church.

Your word remind me of one guy at Ogba, he did say exact thing you just said that nothing would make you go to the church, but when things changed for the worse and sickness and affliction succeeded with their coup in his life, he seek the same guy whom he said the word before, he was eventually healed and restored, he said he will never say such word to any man of God for the rest of his life.

Politics / Kogi Gov ‘critically’ Injured In Crash, ADC Dies by Elmos: 6:18pm On Dec 28, 2012
Governor of Kogi State, Captain Idris Wada, was on Friday involved in an auto-crash at Emo-worro village in Ajaokuta Local Government Area of the state.

The village is about 12 kilometres from Lokoja, the state capital.

Eyewitness account said the accident was caused when one of the rear tyres of the governor’s car got burst in motion.

The governor’s Aide De Camp, ASP, Idris Muhammed, died on the spot.

He was returning to Lokoja from the Annual Igala Education Summit in Ayangba, his home town.

A source said the critically injured governor was first admitted at the intensive care unit of the Lokoja Specialist Hospital, but was later moved away enroute Abuja when his condition began to deteriorate.

Although, reports said Wada was being taken to the National Hospital Abuja, he has not arrived at the hospital at the time of filing this report.

Kogi State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Yabagi Bologi, issued an official statement shortly after visiting the governor at the hospital in Lokoja.

Bologi said Wada was in a “stable condition.”

He called on the people of the state to go about their normal businesses.

The statement officially announced the death of the governor’s ADC who was involved in the accident along with the governor.

The statement reads: “The convoy of the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Capt. Idris Ichalla Wada has been involved in a ghastly accident.

“The governor survived the road mishap and is in stable condition. Sadly however, the governor’s Aide de Camp, Idris Mohamed, an Assistant Superintendent of Police died on the spot.

“The accident occurred Friday afternoon at Emi Woro Village, about 12 kilometres into the state capital, in between Prime Polytechnic and Salem University, in Ajaokuta Local Government.

“The convoy was returning from an annual Igala Education Summit which the governor declared opened at the state university in Anyigba.”

A medical personnel at the hospital in Lokoja who spoke in confidence said the governor was “critically injured and at such require more serious medical attention than could not be provided in Lokoja.”

It is however not clear if any other aide of the governor was involved in the crash.

Meanwhile, most of his aides have switched off their mobile phones following the accident.

Despite coming from the same village or town or state or region, Nigerian living abroad both male and female still prefer to go back home to get married. This is a trend that has been on for some time now, and when such imported wife or husband relocate to join the spouse it never last more than few years. Since this is the trend why are singles still go through the stress of going home to fetch a wife or husband?

That you bought your in slow traffic situation does not indicate it only happen in the such situation alone. I did experienced same foul smelling pillow that I did buy from a mattress store in Ikotun Egbe when I had my first son about fourteen years ago. Initially, I did not know where the odour was coming from until I isolated everything around it, when I did discovered it, I ripped it open and yours sincerely, what I saw was an eye sore,I did tried to return it to the place I initially bought it from but could not for I time contingencies, I nevertheless learn that those old mattress that our brother from the north do go around our communities are what they normally cut into pieces and pack in a neat and clean clothing and re-sold for new pillow. Please next time you want to buy such thing make sure you put you olfactory lobe into action.

I know T B Joshua prophesy either majority like it or not would definitely come to pass, but at this point that is not my concern, but the responses of the people. It has shown clearly that our supposedly leaders are not love my the people they are claiming they are leading, it put a big question mark on them. It is high time we told ourselves the truth any leader who does not enjoy the support of the teaming majority ought to resign and go back to their home and re-access themselves. 90% of the respondent here do not care about what happen to our leaders while the remaining 10% were indifferent. That is a bad statistic for our leader this is a food for thought.

mikeapollo: Was this not the Okotie that was condemning and passing judgement on TB Joshua and Oyakhilome a few years ago?
Was this not the man that the Pharisees Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) considered as true man of God when they were partners with him in jealousy, hatred and envy against TB Joshua and Oyakhilome?

The Bible says by their fruits you shall know them!

God is awesome. He does not win His battles by granting noisy interviews on TV/Newspapers, but allows everything to be exposed in His own time.

TB Joshua/Oyakhilome are busy using the the word of God to preach, heal, deliver, save poor/helpless people and mankind in general, while someone else, a friend of PFN, is busy changing and announcing the next woman to take charge of his bedroom, including a mother of 3....!

God have mercy!

As a Christian we work by what we do not see, for what we see is temporal and what we do not see is eternal. Pastor Okotie has always been working with what he sees, or hear or told and not what God says, or reveal, he did not ask what the mind of God was about the Lady before he married her, because he was carried away by her charming beauty, which fade with time and I guess the beauty he saw has faded.Let Pastor Okotie go for deliverance, he should not shy away from it, he needs wise counsel from a bigger hands. I will suggest T B Joshua or Pastor Oyakhilome

This is a BIG issue in my life, I snore, and it is very embarrassing, I have done everything humanly possible, but it wouldn't go. The guy I love to marry left me because she could not cope, I reside in the US, everyday on TV they advertise several devices they claimed could solved my snoring problem, each time I buy one, I will need to invite someone to come and sleep in the same room with me and on each occasion, their report were not I wished for. One day I was in a public bus in London and mistakenly, I slept off, by the time I woke up, every seat next to me front and back are empty while there were empty seat all over people were standing, I understand their reasons, I slept on plane too, it was the same, and for the snoring problem, I don't sleep outside of my house or hotel not in anyone house. I am equally not married because no one want to stay with a snoring man. The one that did eventually left because we were living in different rooms, eventually she left. Please if anyone know the solution to it to say it out am tired.
