A long time ago in China , a girl named Li-Li got married & went to live with her husband and mother-in-law. In a very short time, Li-Li found that she couldn't get along with her mother-in-law at all. Their personalities were very different, and Li-Li was angered by many of her mother-in- law's habits. In addition, she criticized Li-Li constantly. Days passed, and weeks passed. Li-Li and her mother-in-law never stopped arguing and fighting. But what made the situation even worse was that, according to ancient Chinese tradition, Li-Li had to bow to her mother-in-law and obey her every wish. Al l the anger and unhappiness in the house was causing Li-Li's poor husband greatdistress. Finally, Li-Li could not stand her mother-in- law's bad temper anddictatorshipany longer, and she decided to do something about it. Li-Li went to see her father's good friend, Mr. Huang, who soldherbs. She told him the situation and asked if he would give her some poison so that she could solve the problem once and for all. Mr. Huang thought for awhile, and finally said, "Li-iL, I will help you solve your problem, but you must listen to me and obey what I tell you." Li-Li said,"Yes, Mr. Huang, I will do whatever you tell me to do. "Mr. Huang went into the back room, and returned in a few minutes with a package of herbs. He told Li-Li, "You can't use a quick-acting poison to get rid of your mother- in-law, because that wouldcause people to become suspicious. Therefore, I have given you a number of herbs that will slowly build up poison in her body. Every other day prepare some delicious meal and put a little of theseherbs in her serving. Now, in order to make sure that nobody suspect you, when she dies, you must be very careful to act very friendly towards her. "Don't argue with her, obey her every wish, and treat her like a queen." Li-Li was so happy. She thanked Mr. Huang and hurried home to start her plot of murdering her mother- in-law. Weeks went by, and months went by, and every other day, Li- Liserved the specially treated food to her mother-in-law. She remembered what Mr. Huang had said about avoiding suspicion, so she controlled her temper, obeyed her mother-in- law, and treated her like her own mother. After six months had passed, the whole household had changed. Li-Li had practiced controlling her temper so much that she found that she almost never got mad or upset. She hadn't had an argument with her mother-in-law in six months because she now seemed much kinder and easier to get along with. The mother-in-law'sattitude toward Li-Li changed, and she beganto love Li-Li like her own daughter. She kept telling friends and relatives that Li-Li was the best daughter-in- law one could ever find.Li-Li and her mother- in-law were now treating each other like areal mother and daughter. Li-Li's husband was very happy to see what was happening. One day, Li-Li came to see Mr. Huang and asked for his help again She said, "Dear Mr. Huang, please help me to keep off the poison from killing my mother-in- law. She's changed into such a nicewoman, and I love her like my own mother. I do not want her to die because of the poison I gave her." Mr. Huang smiled and nodded his head. "Li-Li, there's nothing to worry about. I never gave you any poison. The herbs I gave you were vitamins to improve her health. The only poison was in your mind and your attitude toward her, but that has been all washed away by the love which you gave to her." HAVE YOU REALIZED that how you treat others is exactly how they will treat you ? There is a wise IGBO PROVERB saying: "The person who loves others will also be loved in return ." God might be trying to work in another person's life through you 1 Like |

A guy that works out at the gym where i work out showed up last weekend yesterday after being absent for about 4 weeks. So i asked him where you been you done gained a little weight? He said i got married, i said whaaaat you was just single! He went to a event with people of his culture and meet a girl and they got married. He also replied we are muslim we do not have sex before marriage. I said practicing christians are not suppose to either. Needless to say he said they have these events where single women and single men go to with the intent to find a spouse and he did! I ain't even mad at them as a matter of fact i am mad at our process because we as christians are always boasting about how great our God is rightfully so. But it amazes me the faith that transcends through other religions through everyday practical living. I know a lot of beautiful SINGLE christian bro & sis who claim to know God but are scared of failing in marriage so as a result they live alone and fall in sin to knuckle heads! I am not coming down on anybody, i am a nobody just try to save myself from this untoward generation! BUT we are missing something trying to be so heavenly bound that some have become of no earthly GOOD! I think sometimes who in the world are they saving themselves for, you ain't getting no younger and don't nobody want no dried up tired old nag lol I would never want to be anything but a Jesus freak Christian but sometimes all i can do is shake my head and wonder what in the world is going ON? |

Several dozen U.S. Army active duty and reserve troops were told last week that the American Family Association, a well-respected Christian ministry, should be classified as a domestic hate group because the group advocates for traditional family values. The briefing was held at Camp Shelby in Mississippi and listed the AFA alongside domestic hate groups like the Ku Klux Klan, Neo-Nazis, the Black Panthers and the Nation of Islam. A soldier who attended the briefing contacted me and sent me a photograph of a slide show presentation that listed AFA as a domestic hate group. Under the AFA headline is a photograph of Westboro Baptist Church preacher Fred Phelps holding a sign reading "No special law for f***." American Family Association has absolutely no affiliation with the controversial church group known for picketing the funerals of American servicemembers. "I had to show Americans what our soldiers are now being taught," said the soldier who asked not to be identified. "I couldn't just let this one pass." The soldier said a chaplain interrupted the briefing and challenged the instructor's assertion that AFA is a hate group. "The instructor said AFA could be considered a hate group because they don't like gays," the soldier told me. "The slide was talking about how AFA refers to gays as sinners and heathens and derogatory terms." The soldier, who is an evangelical Christian, said the chaplain defended the Christian ministry. "He kept asking the instructor, 'Are you sure about that, son? Are you sure about that?'" he said, recalling the back and forth. Later in the briefing, the soldiers were reportedly told that they could face punishment for participating in organizations that are considered hate groups. That considered, the soldier contacted me because he is a financial contributor to the AFA ministry. "I donate to AFA as often as I can," he said. "Am I going to be punished? I listen to American Family Radio all day. If they hear it on my radio, will I be faced with a Uniformed Code of Military Justice charge?" The soldier said he was "completely taken back by this blatant attack not only on the AFA but Christians and our beliefs." It's not the first time the Army has accused conservative Christian groups of being domestic hate groups. Earlier this year, I exposed Army briefings that classified evangelical Christians and Catholics as examples of religious extremism. Another briefing told officers to pay close attention to troops who supported groups like AFA and the Family Research Council. One officer said the two Christian ministries did not "share our Army Values." "When we see behaviors that are inconsistent with Army Values - don't just walk by - do the right thing and address the concern before it becomes a problem," the officer wrote in an email to his subordinates. At the time the military assured me those briefings were isolated incidents and did not reflect official Army policy. If that's true, how do they explain what happened at Camp Shelby? I contacted the Pentagon for an answer but they referred me to Army public affairs. And so far - they haven't returned my calls. And their claim that the classifications are "isolated" is not washing with AFA. "The American Family Association has received numerous accounts of military installations as well as law enforcement agencies using a list compiled by the Southern Poverty Law Center, which wrongfully identifies and defames AFA," reads a statement they sent me. Bryan Fischer hosts a talk show on American Family Radio. He called the Army's allegations "libelous, slanderous and blatantly false." "This mischaracterization of AFA is reprehensible and inexcusable," he told me. "We have many military members who are a part of the AFA network who know these accusations are a tissue of lies." Fischer said their views on gay marriage and homosexuality are not hate - it's simply a disagreement. "If our military wasn't headed by a commander-in-chief who is hostile to Christian faith, these allegations would be laughed off every military base in the world," he said. Hiram Sasser, of the Liberty Institute, told me the Army's briefing is a smear. He recalled what President Obama said last year when Muslim extremists attacked our diplomatic outpost in Libya. "Since our founding, the United States has been a nation that respects all faiths," President Obama said. "We reject all efforts to denigrate the religious beliefs of others." Sasser said he wished the president and the Army would treat the American Family Association with the same deference and respect they show those who mean to harm us "Why must the Army under this administration continue to attack Americans of faith and smear them?" Sasser wondered. I fear the answer to that question. Because it appears the Obama administration is separating the military from the American people - and planting seeds of doubt about Christians and some of our nation's most prominent Christian ministries. Getting breast implants may alter a woman's sex life for the better. According to a new study from Brazil, women who had cosmetic surgery to enhance their breast size experienced a significant increase in arousal and satisfaction following the procedure, HealthDay News reported. However, the researchers also found that women who had stretch marks after getting breast implants did not experience the same improvement in their sex lives. The study included 45 women who were planning on undergoing breast augmentation. Before the surgery, Dr. Paulo Guimaros and his colleagues gave the women a questionnaire to assess the quality of their sex lives and sexual satisfaction. The women took the same questionnaire two, four and 18 months after the operation. Of the 36 women who did not develop stretch marks after the surgery, all reported improved levels of arousal and more satisfaction with their sexual experiences, according to HealthDay News. To explain the study's finding, some experts argued that getting breast implants can help boost a woman's confidence in the bedroom. "I think that the female breast is a very important part of a woman's body, in terms of how a woman feels about herself in public, how her clothes fit and how she feels about herself sexually," Dr. David Reath, chair of the public education committee of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), told HealthDay News. "It's very common for a woman post-surgery to say she feels more confident, that her outward body now fits her inward persona." However, some experts believe that other psychological factors may be contributing to this finding. "When we have exerted a great effort, spent a great deal of money and effort and time on something, we tend to justify that effort," Tomi-Ann Roberts, a distinguished professor of psychology at Colorado College, told HealthDay News. "Our good feeling is increased because of the effort, not the thing itself." The study's results will be presented this week at the ASPS annual meeting in San Diego culled from: foxnews |

In countries like South Korea, the first 100 days of a child is very symbolic. Within this period, the life of the child and that of his parents are often celebrated. In keeping with the tradition of the people, prayers and various types of gifts are offered to the gods during parties organised to mark the event. This is accompanied with much feasting in the child’s home. The purpose of such ritual is to increase the newborn baby’s chances of becoming successful on earth. Globally, it is also common among political appointees or government officials to celebrate their first 100 days in office. For instance, President Barack Obama of the United States celebrated his first 100 days in office with pomp and ceremony. The period in the US serves as a benchmark to measure the early success (or otherwise) of president. In Nigeria, President Goodluck Jonathan and many state governors also celebrated their first 100 days in office. Of course, the celebrations took place with much fanfare. Advertorials were placed in the newspapers and parties were held in government houses to mark the achievements of the political office-holders during their first 100 days in office. Unfortunately, there are no celebrations today as Nigerians mark the symbolic first 100 days that lecturers in the country’s public universities embarked on industrial action. The lecturers, who commenced the strike on July 1, are protesting the non-implementation of an agreement they signed with the Federal Government in 2009, as well as the non-payment of their earned allowances. Many people are compelled to ask what the country, particularly the education sector, has achieved in the first 100 days of the ASUU strike. Since the strike is still in progress, analysts conclude that nothing significant has been achieved. In their thinking, several dialogues and meetings targeted at resolving the crisis have failed to yield positive results. Therefore, there is really no cause for celebration. A lecturer at the Lagos State University, Ojo, Prof. Ademola Onifade, notes that contrary to expectation, the current struggle by ASUU has achieved nothing for the lecturers and public universities. He says, “In politics and governance, politicians celebrate the first 100 days on the positive side. But here we are, nothing has been accomplished in this struggle. I suspect that the game plan of the Federal Government is to wear us out. The authorities do not want to address our requests. However, if their target is just to wear us out, they will not succeed.” But judging by recent statements made by the representatives of the government, there is an indication that the crisis will be resolved. Indeed, President Jonathan and Vice President Namadi Sambo have promised that the crisis would be over soon. Earlier, the FG, acting through the Governor Gabriel Suswam-led committee, had released N100bn for infrastructure development in the universities and another N30bn for the teachers’ earned allowances. But the leaders of ASUU dismissed the sum as a token, saying it was comparable to a drop in the ocean of their requests. While both parties continue to seek the best way to settle their differences, the mood in many homes and in the public universities affected by the strike remains sober. Academic activities in these institutions are still suspended. The students and their parents are forced to deal with the frustration and feeling of hopelessness arising from the strike, just as the striking lecturers, who claim that they have not had any meaningful dialogue with the FG, continue to despair. The lecturers have not been paid their salaries for the past two months. But this seems to be the least of their worries. The Chairman of ASUU, Obafemi Awolowo University chapter, Prof. Ade Akinola, who says there is no political colouration in their demand, notes that the body’s major concern is to save the universities from dying. He says, “ASUU will continue to call on Nigerians to help beg the Federal Government to be patriotic and see reason in not allowing public tertiary education to die. The FG should honour the agreement mutually entered into in 2009 and further reinforced by the Memorandum of Understanding of February 24, 2012. It was in general to save the public universities from total collapse.” Also, a communications specialist, Mr. Muyiwa Akin, thinks this is not the right time for ASUU and the government to trade blame. He says that both parties should find a mid way to resolve the crisis. “All the parties should realise that they should protect the interest of the students. In my thinking, sincerity is lacking in this matter. The signing of the agreement took place some years ago and if perchance, the FG is not able to meet its own side of the deal, it should be open about that. |

Some of the survivors of last Saturday’s midnight attack on the students of the College of Agriculture, Gujba, Yobe State, which about 70 students were killed, have narrated how they escaped death by the whiskers, jumping through the window when the gunmen stormed the hostel. The survivors, who are now receiving medical treatment at the Sani Abacha Specialist Hospital, following injuries received during the attack told journalist yesterday that the gunmen, who were cladded in military camouflage stormed the school in a commando style and opened fire on them. According to Adamu Mohammed, a final year student of Animal Husbandry department when it dawned on the students that the school was surrounded by the gunmen, all the students were confused and began to seek escape routes. He said, “We were all sleeping in the hostel when one of our students came into their room in a confused state, saying they will kill us, they will kill us. When we heard this, everybody in the hostel became confused. “There was no light and we could not go out while we don’t know where to go in the night. Some of my colleagues decided to go into security office to report what they had seen. “When we were trying to come out from our hostel, we saw many people with army uniforms and immediately, they started shooting us from different directions. They killed many of my friends, but some of us managed to escape through the window of our room, I ran into the bush.” Another survivor, who gave his name as Sule, said he lost two of his brothers in the attack. He lamented that the attack had left everyone completely devastated and has impacted negatively on their studies. The Sani Abacha Specialist Hospital where the wounded were taken to for treatment and the remains of the dead were deposited was a beehive of activities as relations and sympathisers thronged the place to see the spectacle left by the attack. A father of one of the victims, 18-year-old Ahmadu, Alhaji Ado Adamu, described what happened as barbaric and unIslamic. Source: Leadership |
