Culture / Re: Warri Succession Crisis: Oba Of Benin Wades In, Meets Ologbotsere by esere826: 9:15am On Apr 17, 2021
The Oba of Benin is wise enough not to advice Emami about changing the rules in the middle of the game.
It's like his throne. There is a rule for it. It is passed from father to first son. It's not done the Yoruba or Fulani way were kings are chosen from princes.

4) That for every vaccine discovered, there is already a variant in the making. This will continue until the high and mighty admit that safety is of the Lord. Proverbs 21:31. **Face-Palm** sebi you sef dey wear mask upon all your vaunted powers of anointing and healing

You have every right to argue against something like you did in the other points, but dont let your hatred for christianity blind you to common sense.

When other "big" pastors go ahead to have massive crowds packed like sardines with no one wearing masks dont you still critisize them?

Adeboye wears a face mask not because he is scared of covid, but because he is a leader and needs to lead by example so that it is easier for others to follow. Wont you critisize him for not seen to be following government protocols?

I also wear a face mask when I go out. It is not because I am scared of covid, but because in where I live, the government requires us to.
It would be stupid and make mockery of Christiany plus direct hatred towards us if newspapers carry a story that i was arrested and started protesting my arrest saying that I am a child of God and so Covid can not hurt me.

..just wear your thinking hat abeg.

Your submission above is "sense-ruled". The Bible says in the last days many will be deceived even the very elect.
This is not a virus we are dealing with here. It's beyond that. The church is the only body that can stop the satanic plot to move before his time - the reason the church is the main target. I pray you are not deceived to collect that vaccine because you are lost forever! I hope this wisdom is not too high for you? #peace

hahahaha

sense ruled indeed.

Dude YOU DONT READ YOUR BIBLE

Vaccine .....lost forever ......why?

Is vaccine given in the forehead or is it given in the right hand?
Last i knew, it is given on the arm, any arm.

What does the bible say about the mark of the beast that you that are supposed to a blazing son of God are so scared of?

Rev 13:16
And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads

Ok, let's imagine that the vaccine is not the mark of the beast but poison, what did Jesus tell you?
Ah. Same verse that talks about healing the sick (let's say healing covid) also says:
Mark 16:18
They will pick up snakes, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them. They will place their hands on the sick and cure them."

O, let me guess your response. The scripture says drink and not inject abi?
But likewise the scripture says recieve mark and does not say receive injection

Do you have another high wisdom that you wanna share?
LoL

If you and your pastor want to go to church, no wahala
Just dont put your mouth into another persons ministry especially when you are still an infant lacking in understanding of things way bigger than you.

You lie there! Christianity is very much alive! Not every minister is afraid of the virus! For those of you saying they are obeying authority, I have this question for you - why didn't the Apostles obey the authority when they were instructed/directed not to preach anymore in the name of Jesus? What was their response to the then authority?

This "covid period" has revealed alot to us about the state of some churches but thank God, the Church of Jesus Christ will definitely prevail. #shallom

"Respecting" protocols (or being seen to be respecting it) does not mean fear. It is actually wisdom
Why get 1,000 infected then only heal one? In your church is every single person healed or saved from whatever afflictions they have?
Why make enemy of the state for something as simple as chill till this is over (and it will be over)

Do you know that you became a christian because the state "supported" it?
If you dont know this, ever wondered why China is not full of Chrstians nor even full of those that can wage war to push their religion?
Wait a minute, even up North of Nigeria, how come with all the mega churches down south, you have not mobilized obeying God to go and preach the gospel forcefully in the North that is within a day's travel?

Do you know that while the angel of death plagued the Egyptians, the jews where isolating indoors as commanded by God?

Preaching the word does not only mean physical church, otherwise churches wont be broadcasting on tv and online.

In fact, insisting on stepping into church demonstrates a low level of faith. Remember that Jesus spoke the word to the centurions serveant without meeting the centurion or the serveant and yet there was healing

If your church has a branch in say UK, have you found out from them if they are respectful of what the government says about covid, or do they insist on "preaching the word" to a crowded church?

Where are your pastors kids (or where is the dad's wish for them to go)? are they in Nigeria where laws are broken to preach the gospel or in the western where gospel is preached within the law?

Family / Re: What Will You Do If You Have My Kind Of Parents? by esere826: 7:58pm On Sep 19, 2020
SecretSpy666:
Greetings Nairalanders,
I want to seek for you peoples opinions regarding my family challenges.

I'm from a broken home. My parents divorced when I was a child of two years. I'm the only child from their union. My father and mother abandoned me and remarried to other spouse each. I passed through hell growing up with relatives who insulted me with all kinds of names and I was treated like a slave to their own children.

Because of public outcry about my dehumanizing treatment, my father came to village and took me to the city. It was from fry pan to fire experience as my father's new wife was maltreating me. At a point, my father asked me to leave his house that since my arrival, he don't have peace with his wife.

I packed to the house of a relative and work in a block industry to help myself. Most times, I slept in a CAC church close to the relative house as the two-room apartment is not enough for his family. My mother never care if I was alive. She never call me nor reply to letter I sent through someone to her. I continued working in the block industry and started a part time programme. I completed the part time programme and did my NYSC and master degree. I got a job with University of Ado Ekiti with the help of a course mate, managing myself now and surprisingly my mother and father started calling me often.

Both of them have 6 children each with their respective second spouse. Mother want his son to come and live with me, I refused and my father too have been requesting for financial assistance which I also refused. I don't want to have anything to do with both of them. My father's daughter recently called me to help her with school fees, I bluntly told her to ask her mother what she did to me and caught the call. Since then, she never call.

I'm alone and have just two friends. I don't have family. All of them calling now are just looking for what to get from me, not that they care about me. My mother never call me once to ask about my welfare even when I sent my phone number to her through her relative. I wrote WAEC, completed degree course before she started calling me and it is only to request for one thing or other. I'm planning to get married without telling them and build a separate family.

If your families action makes you a bitter person, then the christian faith teaches us to forgive. And its very important for your sanity not theirs.

But forgiving does not make you their bread winner or sustainer at all. That kind of forgiveness is based on the flesh wanting to be righteous. Your righteousness is of God, so you should be going to God in prayer if you feel hurt and telling him that you feel hurt but he should help you forgive them. He will do it for you.

You are not bound to help anyone, especially those who want a relationship with you because of money. Real families are not family only because they want something. These ones are gold diggers and you should avoid them so they dont negatively influence your kids with their wicked way of thinking.

Dont worry. In this life, the only family that you need is your God. He will give you true friends and a good family.

(Remember that forgiveness does not mean being close to someone nor giving them money. I dont know why people think it does)

Religion / Re: Oyedepo: "Marriage Vows, For Better For Worse, Sickness And Health" Is A Curse by esere826: 1:49pm On Mar 26, 2019
HigherEd:

Hmm I u understand why ministers of the faith movement, the likes of Hagin, Oyedepo and Copeland would thoroughly hate that line because most believe the redemption package doesn't permit Christians to be sick or poor in the first place. But the reality is that many Christians live short of God's desire for their divine health and financial prosperity. And you don't want a situation where marriages collapse because of money or health issues.

Therefore, that line though Unscriptural was a necessary innovation from the medieval church to bring marriage partners into a vow bound by death. To ensure that no one jumps ship when things get low - which in many cases it does. In doing so, the church has removed the option of divorcing your partner for circumstantial reasons and reinforced that it would not be part to relationships inspired by benefits only.

My reservation is when major ministries abandon that line it would further weaken people's commitment to lifelong marital covenants.

The only evil the church has been culpable in is not encouraging victims of marital abuse to separate from their abusive spouses - something the church must work on.

The vow should not be "for better for worse"

Instead it should be "through all time"

They are trying to deceive the south west. Dogara is recontesting and has all the advantage if PDP wins majority of seats in the house. Only a nitwit from the south west would believe this watery promise.

The same way PDP promised south west speakership before the 2011 election. We voted massively for Jonathan and he looked away cinveniently as Tambuwal emerged speaker after election . Despite cries by Obasanjo and Yoruba PDP leaders, Jonathan did nothing about it.

They also promised to zone the party chairmanship to south west after 2015 general election, on the day of the convention, Wike hijacked the position for Secondus from south south and even insulted the entire Yoruba race as inconsequential on national television. Atiku is playing the same game again, we must not fall for it.

Are you a child with little knowledge of current history or are you just trying to deceive gullible and ignorant people?

That move was masterminded by your very own tin god Tinubu and a lot of his Yoruba party reps.
Obasanja was upset because he wanted Jonathan to force Tanbuwal out just like Oshiomole tried to do against Saraki using DSS.
Remember that Obasanjo regularly forced out those who he didnt like out of power. Even the rate of high profile political assasination was high during his time.
At that time Jonathan did not have the balls to do something like that.(and rightly so).

Jonathan was upset when Tambuwal decamped later on.
Jonathan then tried to act the little Hitler role by using the cops to get rid of Tambuwal.
It failed just as the DSS operation against Saraki failed.

Please dont stupidly recreate history
Family / Re: My Sister Got Married Without My Knowledge -- Now They Need Me To Mediate by esere826: 10:57am On Apr 07, 2018
KOPT33:
I am the first son of my father who is now late.

When my father died some 11 years ago, I relocated to Lagos to finish my schooling. I lived with my aunt then but I had to leave their home because I was being abused. Upon leaving my aunt's house, things became so difficult for me but I persevered with my education till I finished my bachelors.

During my lean years, I fell out with most of my family members. My mom refused to speak to me for three years, I was essentially the outcast of the family. During this period, my mom and some elders in our family gave out my sisters hand in marriage.

The couple had a trad/white wedding. Bride price was paid, all the customs of our people were followed save for one: the consent or knowledge of the first son. I wouldn't get to hear about this marriage until six months later. That night, I cried because their action proved that I was nobody, a nothing to my mom and siblings.

Anyways, I kept on working hard and soon became comfortable. I mended fences with everyone in my family, but even at that, no one offered an explanation why things unfolded the way it did or an apology. I didn't make any noise, I just picked up myself and moved on after committing the lessons learned to mind.

Six years and two children later, my sisters marriage has hit the rocks.

Now they're asking me as the first born to mediate and talk to the man.

I REFUSED.

The man (sister's husband) won't speak to my mom or the other elders he had been dealing with regarding a possible reconciliation. My family know me to be a good mediator and peace maker and they are not wrong.

I refused because there is no point mediating in a marriage that was done over my head.

As it stands now, I have no interest in playing head of house or anything of such nature. I send money, I help make connections, I foot bills for everyone in the family but I leave their decision making to them since they discounted me right from the very beginning. I have no interest whatsoever in becoming a leader in that family.

What would you do if you were in my shoes?

The bolded is the problem
You can meditate for your sister if you wish,
but they suddenly remembering that you are the elder is stupid of them.
..and you should let them know this.

If they want to want rectify this, then the family knows what to do, not pretending that nothing ever happened

But the Muslim heaven is at least more exciting than the Christian heaven where you will be playing harps and singing songs for eternity, not for me - a totally boring experience.

Hell maybe more exciting, music, wine and eternal dancing to the screams of the damned grin

Noo Frosbel,“You are mistaken because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God . In the resurrection, people will neither marry nor be given in marriage. Instead, they will be like the angels in heaven" (Matthew 22: 29)

I admire your intelligent question
However, it appears to me that you were largely misled in knowledge as most christians are (same with me)

Why not ask God to answer you questions -He will in snippets.
I also had this issue you just raised and I asked Him.

Here is a summary of what happens:

As a human, you are not an absolute. You only work according to your programming
The thing that excites humans is not what excites other beings.
A goat does not dance to music, nether does it stare lustfully at a beautiful girl -that is not its programming
Different beings have been given different programming

When you get to heaven you programing will change, hence Jesus talks about the "power of God" in the verse above
Your programming will make the things of heaven so beautiful that you cannot even imagine

Your senses or "excitement" are nothing even on earth without your programming
some people even on earth dont feel pain because a disease has killed that programming
Some cant smel all the good or bad stuff
a child is not concerned about sex when the programmed juices have not kicked in.

Hope you get it

Like I said about Petra1 recently, he has indeed tried by bringing in some "logic"
Thanks to him, For the first time in my many years as a christian, I have seen new points of view in the pro-tithe argument
Previously all i saw from both the masters and minions were repetitions of Malachi, and at best a mention that tithing was before the law.

yeah, I do not believe in or should I say, see from the bible, tithing as-is presently trumpeted
However, there is no doubt that Money is needed and if the church decides it is by "modern tithing",
so be it, -no need trying to use Malachi to blackmail people.

In the first break out of the church, without any reference to the "old testament" ("new testament "did not even exist then)
the church decided to sell all they had and bring the proceeds into the church -ie, they created their own model of Church support
Annaias and Sapphira didnt need to be a part of that community,
and even if they were, they could have just been floor member and hold on to their money, but no -they lied and were struck dead

Now I do not say this to scare anyone
No, I say it for us to understand that most "communities" including a church can decide on a model for raising money. -no need trying to force scripture on top.

A church can decide that its official members pay 10%, or less or more of their earnings
and actually go as far as defining exactly what that 10% should mean.
For example it can say that after the parents have "tithed" and then shared money to the kids, whether the kids should also "tithe" or not.
(-this would save us from referring to the bible to find out hwether it is beer drinking or grains)

the church is free to bless anyone who brings in this "tithe" ,
either spiritually or by granting some priviledges such as performing marriage rights
afterall, it is written that:

"whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven."

...and if sadly the church worker decides to lie about this "tithe" which they were not forced to partake in just like Ananias did,
the church can choose its sanction.

This whole tithing vs anti-tithing thing is something that in my opinion should be discussed solely amongst only christians.
- Not needing the retort to gutter-y insults
The practice or non-conformity is amongst christians and no one else.
I see no need to include or respond to unbelievers in support of any side of the debate.
In the house of Christ, we have enough people with spiritual and brain power to properly handle the bible debates and societal impacts

The only time unbelievers need be involved in our matter is when there there is a strong overlap with the wider society
such as tax paying, suspected fraud, need for audit, law breaking, threat to government and society etc.

Paul and Barnabas argued, so did Peter and Paul, and Paul and so many others -all were christians with different persuasions
Even Emperor Constantine when wading into christian arguments at the council of Nicea, did so as a christian, albeit a "baby" one.

..We must remember that no matter how saintly or tainted we are
we are not baptized into our MOG's or personal revelations,... no
we are all baptized into one Jesus, one father, one Spirit.
and should respect that in our arguments.

As for me, I am happy that Christians are beginning to think and ask questions again
I am not a tither, neither am I less blessed than those that tithe
I tried it and was bugged by endless guilt -maybe because of the way pastors presented the message to me compared to what i saw when i read the bible.
The topic of tithing is one thing the Holy Spirit as neither "told" me Yes or No about (although I am made aware that Jesus mission does need lots of money).
My guess is that many of us have also received heavenly silence on that topic. So I believe its left for the different sides to enlighten us

GOODMORNING NAIRALANDERS
i am writing this with a broken heart and in tears, all i labored for is about to crumble.
two years ago i decided to be my own boss and run a business of my own,i committed everything into the hands of GOD and i was hoping for the best.right from the first day i started this business,it has been from one stress to the other,it never reached my expectation.
i have taken an extra loan to fund it when things were down but things remained the same.
I have finally given up my people after running it for a year and eight months and about to close it with pains and lessons learnt.
i feel GOD has betrayed me by not helping me despite my prayers and everything.
i am not saying i am a pastor but i am a christian and believe in GOD.
i started the business with 150,000 rands (about 4m)and have invested a further 40,000 rands into it but it all seem to be going down the drain.
i feel very down and don't think i will ever start up anything again.
i prayed to GOD and told him my plans and expectations and also asked for blessings with the promise to give back to the society and less fortunate if everything works out the way i planned but i think GOD neglected me.
i don't know if i will ever believe in GOD again
i don't know if i will ever

Did God give you any instructions?
I dont believe that God can fail. However, our knowledge and info about God can fail because it was wrong in the first place.

Aethists do business and succeed using strategies.- It sometimes fails.
If you even keenly observe pastors that are successful, you notice that they have strategies -it sometimes fails too.
When you pray to God, try to open your mind to strategies that could flood in from anywhere.
Even some of those strategies might not always work, but the sum total would be that your success (not neccesarily that one business) will grow

Even this your loss will end up summing up into your success growth

One can choose to either ignore him or actually debate the idea with some biblical "logic"
What I've found amusing is that a couple of senior christians who i respect have jumped in and used emotions as a tool in such a "debate".

For example, one of the big MOG's dismissed and rebuked Freeze for mentioning beer in relation to tithe.
However, this was so off the context in which Freez spoke. Many bible translations do have that verse of the bible mentioning strong drink.
(that he doesnt agree with it does not mean that it does not exist)
Another MOG jumped on the bandwagon and was busy defending the 1st MOG based on emotions with barely any biblical logic.

This is same way the catholic church used to behave in ages past.
Their leadership just said anything (even outside of the bible) and expected everyone to fall into line.

Petra1 tried (I'm not saying he's right or wrong)
I say so because he's a pastor and could have taken the easier route of ignoring or just going straight to Malachi and threatening its curse for anyone who disagrees with his tithing view -people are scared of this.
He didnt.
Instead he has attempted to trace the genesis of tithing, and to distinguish different types.
I might not completely agree with him, but I appreciate that he is enriching the discussion.
As it is written.

i dont think 2face as ever denied any of these allegations
What is needed is a legal settlement
Use a big name chamber like Festus Keyamo etc
2 face pays off enough for blackface to never mention it again.

It is painful, but unfortunately, in Nigeria, intellectual property theft is not frowned upon
