Programming / Re: [Opinion] B.sc Computer Science In Nigeria? poo! by eyanpataki: 10:46pm On Nov 28, 2010
my own opinion is that the university naturally is not the place for in-depth knowledge of any knowledge whatsoever
the university is a learning environment in which research on all areas is made.
so for one to become a programmer, one needs to work externally i mean read books, frequent Internet use etc

@manny4life: the point is there in the reaction. If you don't get it, too bad. Sorry, I can't help you. I believe or, at least I hope, the poster does get it. You talk about what you think, I talk about what I know. We are operating from different perspectives: yours is a realm of imagination, mine is the reality. Thank you, sir.

Wow I love that answer, That's how we intellect should react <meaningfully and a unique one indeed>
Politics / A Critical Look At The Selection Of Inec Chairman by eyanpataki: 9:15am On Sep 22, 2010
I am a proponent of democracy, constitutionalism, and every other traditions associated with Nigerian politics.
BUt when i think and meditate on how Nigeria can move forward, something comes top on my list that is Good leadership
A leader of the people, seen by the people to be of good qualities are not always elected. what is the cause? bad electoral system
Fellow Nairalanders, yes it is to late to have the current INEC chairman changed but for future purposes and cognitive enlightment
is it right for an incumbent president ,who is a member of a political party in Nigeria, who still needs power, who wants a big profit from democracy,
who wants to be given another chance of our top seat, be allowed to select the election cordinator?,
A senior politician has made this observation but the true they say is not always welcomed,
please I need your views

Programming / Questions For Advanced Programmers: Please Help by eyanpataki: 1:39pm On Sep 21, 2010
Hello Nairalanders, i really appreciate your endeavors in programming on this forum, i have really learnt alot especially the encouragement i got from experienced programmers here.
I am presently working with java, I know about the basics and the intermediate, what is left for me is the Graphics and database connectivity
These are my questions:
I have written programs( i mean real and tasking programs: shopping cart, zipcode verification, and mostly mathematical solutions using data structures and algortihm etc) but they are all run from commmand prompt or using small IDE like jcreator.
1. I want to write big programs, that looks like the one we download online(install it, run it on keyboard, provide help etc.
2. I need the main concept behind coding large project like notepad, browser etc
3. In java, how can i combine many classes, packages and interfaces for large projects.
In fact, How can I be a software developer?

thanks for your anticipated kind gesture

Politics / Re: Why Do You Think Babangida Would Turn Nigeria Around ? Facts! by eyanpataki: 8:39am On Sep 16, 2010
Why do you think Babangida would turn Nigeria around when some believe that since he could not do it as a military leader, where he had all the power, he cannot do it in a democracy, where he can’t act alone?

At this time, Nigeria needs a man with vision, foresight and exceptional intelligence. IBB is the man. A look at the many things he did for Nigeria, at a time the total national income for a year was smaller than what the country is earning in a month now, would explain my position. He did much to improve the infrastructural development of Nigeria. Edifices like the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos; the International Conference Centre, Abuja; construction of federal housing estates nation wide, National Assembly Complex, Abuja, Presidential Villa, Abuja, as well as many other bridges and buildings, are to his credit. In fact, he built Abuja and had the foresight to relocate the federal capital to Abuja, where he developed a modern city. His road projects are too numerous to be counted. He also did much for the economy, like creating room the GSM revolution, through the establishment of the National Communication Commission. He encouraged the establishment of many banks.

He also supported the political development of the country, through a two-party system. When we had the National Republican Convention (NRC) and Social Democratic Party (SDP) everybody said that our democracy was stronger and stable. He establishment the national democratic institutes across the country. IBB strengthened security in the country, through the popular security reform he carried out. Under his reform, the NSO was divided into three divisions, the NIA, SSS and DIA. I’m sure that if IBB becomes next president of Nigeria, the issue of kidnapping, violent crimes and other vices will be a thing of the past in Nigeria.
Thanks jo.
I now have a supporter on this platform, IBB is the man
In fact, He did not deny any allegations against him but gave unquestionable reasons for his actions
it is either IBB or a person i have never heard about, is that possible here Nigeria that runs a cyclic leadership?
Politics / Re: Why I Dumped Jonathan For IBB, By Dokpesi (Zoning) by eyanpataki: 2:59pm On Sep 15, 2010
Hello all, whether u like it or not,
if IBB should win the primary election under the umbrella of the peoples' democratic party; He will become our next president.
and regarding the Dokpesi, the fact that he is a Niger deltan and supporting a northerner is a political issue and peculiar to our famous politicians.
Infact, AIT should not be involved in any harm against Dokpesi, cos even on NTA IBB's campaign was advertised
so IBB is not rejected even by the people of high influence.
let's see
Politics / October 1st: The Celebration by eyanpataki: 11:13am On Sep 13, 2010
Hi Nairalanders, the news and campaign are all over the place about the forthcoming independence day.
celebrations and ceremonies have been organized to honor it.
But to be frank and patriotic, does it worth celebrating as opined by Atiku Abubakar
i believe it calls for increase in the good work and try to fish out the bad eggs in the leadership system
in order to improve our economy.
even if we must honor it, we should let it influence our struggles towards a better future and to rejuvenate the Nation.
cos whether we like it or not, currently there is a relapse.
what do you think?
what do you think should be our focus and reflections as we clock 50?
Politics / Siasia Wants 15million Naira Monthly <aside Other Benefits.> by eyanpataki: 8:57am On Aug 13, 2010
Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and Samson Siasia meeting ended in a stalemate Wednesday
night as they could not finalize what the take home pay of the new manager the Super Eagles will be.

Daily Sunsport can report exclusively that after they agreed to offer Siasia a four-year deal that would culminate in his taking the Super Eagles to the Africa Nations Cup and World Cup, talks broke down when the national Under-23 team’s former coach tabled his financial demands to the executive committee of the NFF.

An impeccable source close to the NFF disclosed that Siasia asked to be paid N15 million monthly and One million USD as sign on fees aside an official quarters and an official car.
The NFF told him that his demand was too much and far out of what they could afford, explaining to him that the foreign coaches who were employed in the last three years were paid by GLO and PTF.

“We told him that that he had to reduce his demands drastically if he really wanted to coach the Super Eagles as the NFF cannot afford such huge amount. He refused to shift ground and we had to excuse him to leave since he was travelling with Heartland FC of Owerri for an African Champions league match in Egypt.

“In principle, we have agreed to give him the job but we shall continue the negotiation on his salary and sign on fee when he comes back from Egypt. I must also tell you that he impressed us at the discussion and we believe he would deliver, if he agrees to tour terms” our source said.

NFF Vice President, Obinna Ogba, told an Abuja radio station after the meeting last Wednesday that a three-man committee had been set up to meet with Siasia to finalize the negotiation with him when he returns and gets back to the board.

Politics / Enugu Herbalist Takes 48th Wife by eyanpataki: 8:42am On Aug 11, 2010
An Enugu based herbalist and self-styled King Solomon of Africa, Dr OnuUwa Simon Odo, made history recently when he performed the traditional wedding rites to a 24-year-old girl to bring the total of his wives to 48.
The 64-year-old herbalist, who married his first wife at the age of 15 , by the recent marriage, now ranks among the world’s most polygamous men.

OnuUwa wedded Ndidi, a secondary school leaver at a flamboyant traditional marriage ceremony unprecedented in the annals of Ajii, a hinterland community in the Igbo Eze North Local Government Area, Enugu State.
The herbalist who said he specialized in healing the sick, especially those whose ailment had defied orthodox therapy; preparation of good luck and success charms, claimed to have received his power from Eze-Nwayi (mermaid) at an early age.

Although he told Daily Sun that his latest wife, Ndidi would be his last, a family source said it is doubtful if he could resist the urge to marry more wives, insisting that “he will marry again.”
OnuUwa, who said he was a baptized and confirmed Catholic, as well as a Mass server, denied any involvement in ritual sacrifices or shedding of human blood.
“I will go to heaven because I am a good man,” he boasted, adding that if he were bad, the gods would have punished him through his children or wives, pointing out that he has never recorded death of a child or wife.

It is just very wonderful how peaceful the family is, given its large population. Explaining the secrete behind the unprecedented harmony in his family, he attributed it to the strict adherence of members of his household to the written rules guiding his family, which he calls the “four commandments” that forbids them to steal, be jealous, fight or kill.

There is no barren woman in his household, but he refused to disclose the number of children he has.
“How can I tell you the number of children I have. You don’t count children, because they are gifts from God. Before you leave, one of my wives may give birth, would you not call me a liar?” the herbalist queried jokingly.
“My ambition to establish a village with my family has been realized. We are now more than a village,” he told Daily Sun.
********what is this?, everyone has his life to live ,
Politics / Action Congress Transforms To Action Congress Of Nigeria by eyanpataki: 10:45am On Aug 10, 2010
The bid by the Action Congress to transform into a bigger party which can better challenge the dominance of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is currently underway. Yesterday, at its national convention, the party integrated the Democratic Peoples' Party (DPP) and factions from other parties into its fold to become the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN).

The convention which held in Lagos also led to the amendment of the party's constitution and manifestos, which led to the adoption of a new flag, slogan, motto, and symbol for the newly emerged ACN. Other amendments made were the changes in disciplinary measures and the number and composition of state congress delegates from each ward.

Bisi Akande, the party's National Chairperson, said the integration with other parties and factions will create a stronger force and make "it easier for leaders with similar political views to fuse into one party before the next general elections."

Usman Bugaje, the party's National Secretary, said the transformation of the party is to create a platform "that can challenge the PDP in the 2011 general elections. , It's necessary given the effort of the ruling party to stifle democracy, destroy its institution and institute a one-party state in the country."

*******this is a revolution, we have not seen anything yet
infact, this coming election will not be an easy trip for any party again

Career / Teaching Job: Can You Do It? by eyanpataki: 10:27am On Aug 06, 2010
It is a prevalent notion that Teachers are future shapers,
But the majority do not venture into it due to it slow salary or income
On this note, firstly they are right cos one would wonder why would a computer science graduate teaches and earns an average amount of 80,000 or 120,000 for secondary sch and university respectively, whereas those in the I.T. industry would earn twice as that for a start
secondly, if all the 1st class and 2ndclass students are diverted to the industry, then the schools and institutions would definitely be filled with the less preferred options,
what is the solution cos this problem tops the list of the causes of poor educational system in Nigeria
Before i proceed let me ask you
can you teach after a university or polytechnic degree? why? specify sec school or higher institutions
Romance / Teen Girl Sells Her Virginity Due To Financial Melt Down by eyanpataki: 9:18am On Aug 06, 2010
The girl - who identified herself only as 'Miss Spring' - is a student that hopes one day to be a doctor - but lives with her mother and brother in a small village in Hungary with little possibility to study or find work.

The girl was so desperate to be allowed to sell her virginity that after the bid was closed down on eBay she wrote to papers like the Huffington Post, The Telegraph and The Sun and to celebrities like Lady Gaga and Madonna, attracting enough attention that some of the original bidders were allowed to continue offering bids via email.

It came down to a final battle between a British man and an Irish man, with the British man winning, although the Irish bidder is reportedly still trying to gazump the deal.

The pretty blond dreams of going to university to become a doctor and has already qualified for a place - but has put it on hold for her family.

She said: "My family has debts, we cannot afford to pay them. My mother borrowed a lot of money in Swiss Francs, and now with the credit crunch in Hungary the repayments in Hungarian forints have tripled, she couldn't pay it back. We faced losing our home and being on the street. I want to be able to pay back those loans - that's why I came up with the idea for this auction.

"It is not such a lot of money for what is on offer, considering half will vanish in tax, but it will be enough to pay of my debts and leave us clear.

"I was in contact with two final bidders - the Irish guy and the British guy. Both wanted me to come to them. I chose the British guy. He was very sympathetic to my cause.

"Both men wanted to marry me take care of me and my family. But for me this was supposed to be a one off thing. Getting married and living with someone is a challenge I am not sure I am yet ready for.

"However I would really like the opportunity to go to Britain or Ireland. So who knows." In her blog she does not say how she is proceeding to conclude the deal.*********
