BOFREJO: To fix this error, use the following steps: Press Enter to clear the message and allow the system to boot to the Windows Desktop. Shut down the computer, and then inspect and clean the exterior vents to remove dust buildup by blowing air through the vent openings. Dust can accumulate inside the vent openings and around internal cooling components, preventing the removal of heat. After you remove the dust, turn on the computer. If the error message persists, continue with these steps. Perform a hard reset. Performing a hard reset can reset recorded thermal values in memory and enable you to use the computer again, even if only for a short time to access and save any important files before service. In some cases, updating the BIOS might help prevent this error from occurring. Have the computer serviced to clean internal components and replace the system fan if necessary. Make sure to address the following items when servicing: Thoroughly remove dust from all internal cooling components. Make sure wires from the system and CPU fans are connected securely to the motherboard. Confirm the system fan blades spin correctly, and the fan is not producing loud noises. If not working correctly, replace the system fan. Remove old thermal compound from integrated circuits and heat sinks and replace with new thermal compound. |

sonofthunder: Connect the laptop while it’s ON to your TV using a HDMI cable to know if it will come up. If it does will need to replace the screen. If it doesn’t come up try the following: - Unplug the laptop charger from source - Press and hold down the power button until the power light goes off - Remove the laptop battery - Press and hold the power button for 15 secs or more - Plug back the laptop charger to connect it to source without putting the battery - Power the laptop and wait to see if the screen comes up If it does, allow it to boot and then shutdown properly before putting back the battery. |

Chiefupper: Does it boot properly after the formatting? Then how long do you use the PC before it crashes? The above answers will aid further assistance. Reinstall the OS, then make sure you delete all volumes including Windows reserved volume of 500MB. Create New Volume and format it before installing Windows. After the installation, check the drivers that installed and use compatible drivers downloaded from manufacturers website to install. Do not use DriverPack or softwares that install unverifiable drivers. Also turn off Windows update from regedit because it’s likely you are using KMS tool that cause system crash after WindowsAutoUpdate. If the above issue does not work, kindly revert back for further assistance. |

Vicboy1: If there’s provision for M.2 on the motherboard, you can. Alternatively, you replace with SATA SSD if you do not want HDD in your PC. |

SmartM: The main reasons why your laptop is flickering: Your drivers are outdated or incorrectly installed. The monitor is short-circuiting because of residual power. The cables aren't connected properly or are damaged. The refresh rate of your monitor isn't synchronized. There are issues with your video card. Your monitor displays the wrong resolution. Here are few solutions that you can try to fix flickering issue in HP laptop or any other laptop: 1. Check Your Monitor and Cables: First thing to check is connections. Check all the cable connections from the monitor to the computer, take them out and plug them back in to ensure the cables are secure. Cables can degrade over time, or maybe damaged. Either way, switch the cable and see if it stops screen flickering. If you can, try a different monitor. If this resolves the problem, you know it's your monitor that's the issue. At that point, contact the manufacturer for support or to raise a warranty claim. 2. Reset Your Display Driver You might have an old driver or a faulty new one. Let's make sure you are running the right version for your system. Press Windows key + I to open Settings. Select Update & Security > Recovery. Underneath Advanced start-up, click Restart now. When your system restarts, select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup settings > Restart. Again, once restarted, select option five to launch your PC into Safe Mode with Networking. Next, use Device Manager to uninstall the display driver: Press Windows key + X and click Device Manager. Double-click on Display adaptors to expand the category. Right-click your graphics card, click Uninstall device, check Delete the driver software for this device and then click OK. Restart your system again. 3. Disable Windows Desktop Manager Desktop Window Manager is an all-encompassing window manager that makes all of those appealing transparent windows, live taskbar thumbnails and high-resolution monitor support features possible. There is a chance that the window manager’s processes are responsible for your laptop screen flickering. To disable Desktop Window Manager follow these steps: Step 1. Access the Power User menu by right-clicking the Windows taskbar icon. Step 2. Select “Run.” Step 3. Type “services.msc” into the Run dialog box. Step 4. Locate “Desktop Window Manager Session Manager.” Step 5. Right-click on it and select “Stop.” Step 6. Right click “Desktop Window Manager Session Manager” again Step 7. Select “Properties.” Step 8. Under the “General” tab, modify the start-up type to “Disabled.” Step 9. Press “OK.” Thanks. |

coolbreezy01: If I understand you correctly, your laptop is connected to different WiFi connections and also through Hotspot but unable to access internet. Kindly go to your laptop Wi-Fi adapter settings then right click properties and select IP V4 to check if there’s any static IP address configured on the adapter. If the above did not solve your issue you can share the screenshot for further troubleshooting. |

Emmanuel900: Either make use of VGA or HDMI to connect the laptop to an external monitor or TV to see if it will display. The external monitor will only display when the system boot to Windows. If it displays on the external monitor; try to update your graphics through devices drivers or download via your manufacturer website by entering the exact system model and OS. Another option is to hard reset the laptop 1. Unplug the laptop from charging 2. Press and hold the power button till the laptop switches off completely. All the lights should be off before you proceed to No. 3 3. Remove the battery 4. Press and hold the power button for 30 secs 5. Plug the laptop to charge without putting the battery 6. Press the power button to switch ON the laptop plugged to charge without the battery Wait and see if the system comes on. If the above options does not work try updating your BIOS. Download the latest bios on your manufacturer’s website then run the file using steps to update your bios Replacing the screen will be the last option after checking the screen connector and flex |

aysnoopy: Since you noticed the fan isn’t blowing there’s need to check the fan to see if it has gone bad and the cause of overheating. So take the system to a hardware engineer for troubleshooting. You can turn the back of the laptop and blow air through the vent with your mouth while the laptop is ON to see if dust or debris stuck the fan. |

checkmatez: Backup the PC and reinstall windows. Then run windows update after the installation to update your drivers. It is possible the rar file was the culprit that compromised your OS infecting it with virus or malware. Before proceeding to format, remember to backup your files Another alternative is to remove the HDD, slave it in another PC and run chkdsk drive letter: /f /r You may require an IT specialist to carry out the above. In case you do require an IT expert services, kindly specify your location let’s see if any of them near your location on this Forum will assist. Thanks. 1 Like |

Rilwayne001: I mean removing both the laptop battery and CMOS battery. Newer models laptop does not have cmos so ignore if your laptop is not having a cmos battery and only remove the laptop battery. It will make the cells in the motherboard to discharge completely and reset with time. |
Computers / Re: Post Your Computer (PC) Troubles Here. by fixitng: 11:05pm On Jul 15 |
Rilwayne001: Sorry about the issue that has affected your motherboard. I do not have an idea on the cost due to unavailability of most boards. You can drop the laptop model on this Forum to see if anyone has the motherboard or knows where you can get it. I don’t think it’s possible to replace or fix on-board processor. Another alternative is to remove the laptop and cmos battery, then keep the laptop for a month, two or more and then put back the batteries plugged to power and try switching it ON. It may come back to life after a long period of time. |

Starboytwo: For the keys, you may need to change the keyboard. Open Ms word and test all the keys to examine the lines that are not working. If all the keys are working it maybe that the system is hanging. As per the diagnostics, you can snap and insert the screenshot but it’s possible your HDD is gradually failing and needs replacement. Run Cmd in administrator Type this command chkdsk c: /r /f If it prompt you to run on the next startup type y and enter Be sure the PC is plugged to light and allow the disk check to complete. If you interrupt the process or system goes off while it’s running, it may damage your disk entirely. |

Falsecars: Are you trying to upgrade or reload the OS? Either secure boot or legacy boot is disabled on bios. Kindly go back to bios and check which of the two boot options is disabled. If legacy is disabled, enable and if secure boot is disabled, enable it. The two cannot be active as same time. You can as well clarify us on what you did that resulted to the screenshot for further guidance. |

Openair: It seem you’re experiencing a black screen as a result of a compromised bios which usually affects the graphics. HP 14 and 15 laptops are always having this issue. Try the following 1. Connect it to your tv with HDMI cable or to a monitor to see if the external monitor comes up before the system 2. Disassemble the laptop and disconnect the LCD connector from the motherboard, then connect with HDMI to tv and see if it comes up as quick as possible The above is if you’re technical enough Another alternative is 1. Download the latest graphics driver from the manufacturer online entering your PC model on their website 2. Install and update the graphics driver through device manager 3. Download and install all the chipsets from the manufacturer website 4. Download the latest version of bios and update your laptop using the necessary steps to flash your bios In some cases, downgrading your OS will ease the laptop burden or rather upgrade your RAM. If the issue continues, you will get more expert view on this Forum. Thanks. |

Lovelynife: Getting another OS online will take you up to 4GB data and require some IT skills to do the installation. You will loose all the files in your PC. I advice you look for an IT specialist that will retrieve your data and reinstall the OS accordingly. You can specify your location in order to get more help from people within your area that is on this Forum. |
Computers / Re: Post Your Computer (PC) Troubles Here. by fixitng: 11:12am On Jul 09 |
Rilwayne001: Yes your IT guy is right. There’s need to take it to a trusted engineer for proper troubleshooting. Things that can cause system to ON and go off abruptly without booting as follows; 1. If a liquid substance has entered the laptop and penetrated through keyboard or back vent to the motherboard 2. If debris has blocked the processor cooling vent or heat sink 3. Faulty power 4. Defective motherboard 5. Damaged fan etc So try booting it with battery and if it goes off abruptly, check the cooling vent to see if it’s dusty and blow the dusts off to allow adequate air flow into the processor. I strongly advise you to take it for repair asap to avoid more damage on the motherboard in case its water that entered it. A drop of ice from chilled bottle or sachet water can drop in the keyboard and penetrate into the motherboard. Thanks. 1 Like |

hotplate: It’s possible the laptop has already had the issue before purchase but you didn’t noticed it at that initial stage. Try to run windows update to see if the system will update recent drivers that may resolve the issue. As per the battery, it usually happens when the battery is near to the end of its life cycles. The only solution is to replace the battery when it no longer has power backup. You can as well try to uninstall the driver and reinstall same with recent one from internet. You can complain to the person you bought the laptop from if it has not been long you bought it or use it without the touchscreen provided all other things are working well. |

Oluwabusobomi: Do you mean the pipe that supply oil to power steering pump because gear oil enters directly to the gear box. If that is the case, kindly take the car to your mechanic let them check if the pipe is broken and be sure there’s enough oil for the power steering. Another alternative is to use fuel to clean the pipe well and check if there’s oil leakage afterwards. Probably the person that top the power steering oil allowed it to spill causing the dropping. If you have any other doubt you can reach out to me for further clarification. Thanks. 1 Like |
