Watcharena: I outlined the reasons why he should go to school and the form of study he should focus on. As for billionaires: 1) Everyone cannot be a billionaire. The way you people use that word is somehow. Look, there are less 3000 dollar billionaires in a world of 8BN+ people. 2) Most successful entrepreneurs worked somewhere before starting their businesses. It was at these places they learnt how well-structured businesses are, how to manage build and manage a team, source for clients, build their network, increase their knowledge/skill-set and most importantly, raise their initial capital. 3) Since you make it seem like no billionaire made it through a paid job (which is a lie on its own), why are you working? Why not resign? You no wan become billionaire too? 1 Like |

Watcharena: My question was HOW MANY? You showed me only one. When making a categorical statement, you must be careful with certain words which have to do with numbers. To teach you this thing, here is a first class graduate of Accounting from Covenant University: https://www.linkedin.com/in/fatima-dashe-ad24/ who works for the prestigious company Boston Consulting Group. Would I now say that ALL first class graduates are employed? Now to Kura Benedicta (I just read the post on Facebook) who graduated and served not more than two years ago. The questions are: has she written aptitude tests? How many companies has she applied to? Before attempting to write ICAN, has she applied to top accounting firms? 1 Like |

Well, as I have stated countless times, the average Nigerian is very unintelligent and at best is a braggadocious miscreant. Very unintelligent people who debate foolishly, ignorantly and to worsen it, very arrogantly. Someone has to put a stop to this madness! |

BabaAgba79: This is not true. Apart from Ondo, no state in the Southwest produces palm oil than Edo, Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Cross River. Note: Not as combined. Edo state out-wits Ondo effortlessly. |

Funkyswagzz: He LIED! People should not lie. This is the Internet not anyone's papa house. If you must put out an information, do so accurately. The Southeast is not Nigeria's major palm oil producing region. That is a fact. It is not being anti-Igbo (I am Igbo), but accurate information must be stated, especially in a public forum. |

Why aren't PRESCO and Okomu Oils present in the Southeast? These are major corporations in the business. This is like Nigeria being Africa's biggest oil producer, yet no oil major operates in Nigeria. This braggadocio by many ignorant, naive and loud Igbos is one major k-leg of Igbo people. The braggadociousness is nauseating especially when not backed by facts. |

santaclaws: This post reminds me of an Ibibio man who bragged that Akwa Ibom has more oil palm trees than every other state. How can a state which has no major corporation extracting and refining palm oil have more palm trees than Edo and Cross River? Nigerians generally brag foolishly. A recent article has it that refiners in Akwa Ibom go to Abia to buy palm fruits. GorillaApp: All you have stated is NOT TRUE. Edo state produces more palm oil than anywhere in Nigeria. And yes, the presence of Okomu and Presco is enough to judge because these companies depend on outgrowers - small scale farmers who supply to major corporations. Without these corporations, the presence of small scale oil palm entrepreneurs would be minuscule. https://pindfoundation.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/Mapping-of-Oil-Palm-Clusters-in-Niger-Delta-States-of-Nigeria.pdf https://www.premiumtimesng.com/investigationspecial-reports/604438-special-report-nigerias-oil-palm-sector-struggling-as-demands-surge.html?tztc=1 |

JAPAHTML: Based on the bold, run a part-time program in any course while maintaining your present source of income. Also, diversify into other businesses. Build systems (documentation, training etc) around your businesses rather than people (employees can resign anytime). The best jobs are math-based, so since you don't know math, don't bother going through the process. Also, don't be bothered or interested in relocating as the odds of doing so via study or work favour mostly numerical graduates. Additionally, a major reason you should study in a tertiary institution is to broaden your thinking process, be open-minded, and broaden your network beyond your current environment. Lastly, build yourself to the comfort you realistically seek before having anything to do with women. Even when the comfort has been achieved, enjoy it first as a bachelor before courtship or marriage. That is, enjoy your money as a man who worked for it before bringing another party into it. When choosing your would-be woman, VET her thoroughly. Women are brutal vetters. Vet her as much as she vets you. May the best vetter win. 4 Likes |

tensazangetsu20: They must do so in the US, no ifs or buts. exnovio: That is not true, please. There are other countries with more economic opportunities that have better and more straightforward legalisation processes for immigrants. But Spain the system is conservative ,there are lots of immigrants in Spain mostly from Latin countries and Morrocco who were born here, their fathers were brought here centuries ago, they schooled and strive here, but you rarely see them having a good job, there are some jobs here they tell you only for white Spanish, But but but but...I keep reading on the Internet that Japan and even China are racist to non-East Asians such that they don't get the best jobs!!!!!!!! In Japan and China, as long as you are qualified, you get employed. Japanese, as I have gone through the process, DON'T care about the colour of your skin provided you speak Japanese, do the damn job, work long hours as they do, get paid and home. No one gives a damn! Just do the job and go home. Finish! in my 19 years living here I have only seen one black bus driver I was shocked because it’s rare here. Where is Mr Papilagreen who had the temerity to suggest Norway, Sweden and Luxembourg for black African migrants to move to instead of the United States?!!!! If this is how it is in Spain wey no get work for the natives, how much more in Nordic countries where it has been reported they discriminate against Southern Europeans? Heck, Spaniards don't have good jobs for their cousins from South America! But a Nigerian supposedly living in God's Own Country suggested that black Africans should omit the US and move to Luxembourg!!!!! Mr Papilagreen has yet to respond to my question if he has seen a black manager of MacDonalds in Oslo? A black nurse in Stockholm? i had a Spanish gf some years ago she was one the bosses in a Bank, she came home one day telling me she saw a black girl in her place of work she was stunned, and the girl happened to be a Nigerian who lived studied in the Uk, got the job in the Uk transferred to Madrid. But in the Uk and other Anglophone countries this is so common,so my relocating is mainly because of my kids. Mr IbeOkehie is right when he says God Bless The King! Anglophones MUST live till the end of time. This is why I say wherever you see an Anglophone White man and Chinese/Japanese, you have greater chances of being employed there as a black man. |

vinoj0225: No. However, to be issued a work visa by the immigration authorities requires a bachelor's degree. It could be in any subject or speciality. A bachelor's degree is the minimum requirement. Without which, no work visa is issued. 2.As a Nigeria who wants to teach English in Japan, will age be a barrier? Above 35 and without Japanese experience in terms of work or education, it would be difficult. But this can be sidelined if the person has other superior qualifications or the school is in distant/unpopular prefectures. 3. For someone who graduated many years ago but has teaching experience, do you think there will be an opportunity of getting COE? Please know that teaching English to Japanese school pupils is different from being a teacher as recognised by the Ministry of Education. It is like a JAMB tutor vs Math teacher in Nigerian parlance. Anyone who knows mathematics can tutor JAMB/WASSCE to students, but won't be allowed to teach in government schools. In Japan, to be assigned as a teacher to teach in public schools or registered private schools, you must be a registered teacher. For government schools, the teacher MUST speak Japanese and acquire teaching qualifications from regulatory authorities in Japan. For private schools whose students are Japanese, the same policy applies. Where it gets different is international schools. Private schools will employ you if you have INTERNATIONALLY RECOGNISED teaching qualifications and INTERNATIONAL teaching EXPERIENCE. You use English to teach the students. I have met a Ghanaian woman whose husband teaches English at a nearby international school. I don't know his qualifications, but from what I read, the minimum is an MSc, whether obtained abroad or in Japan. It is a highly competitive position as White people, both genders, are the dominant foreign group in that category - teaching in international schools. But if you are qualified, the process is largely meritocratic. This is why internationally recognised teaching experience and qualifications are important. Imagine teaching in top private schools in Lagos, Abuja and Port-harcourt? That is how it is. 4. Will the main applicant be allowed to bring in dependant (spouse and two children) immediately? If no, how soon? Yes. But if your employment is the regular English teaching role, aka JAMB/WASSCE tutor, then your visa application for dependants could be denied. The salary is not high and takes a long time to get increases. The majority of such people are very young, usually below 27. Mostly White people who want to get a foot in Japan and do it for the love and kini kon culture of Japan. Don't depend on it entirely as a means of living to the point of inviting dependants. However, I have been told of a man who was a MEXT scholar for the Teaching Program (sponsored by the Japanese government) who after his scholarship got a job to teach English then later brought his wife and two children. The person who told me this was a recipient of the same scholarship and recently got married, then brought his wife. He too teaches English. I don't know their salaries, but to me, it would be too low to support a spouse and two children. Maybe their salaries have increased or they have increased responsibilities, but it depends. I have seen MEXT Scholars (the ones who attend universities for MSc and PhD) have their families with them. So, it can be possible, but is dependent on the discretion of the immigration authorities. Just that for me? I no fit. P.S. The entry salary for regular English teachers, aka JAMB/WASSCE tutors is Y250K per month before taxes. MEXT Scholarship stipend is Y150K (tax free). MEXT Scholars don't pay tuition or flight fees. Regular English teachers are taxed as normal workers. Yes, they are seen as workers in the eyes of the government. Compared to other developed countries, salaries in Japan are generally low. However, the cost of living is way lower compared to those developed countries. The difference is that workers who work in sectors other than regular English teaching get bonuses twice annually, increments once per annum and paid overtime. Regular English teachers don't receive these benefits. It is the standard teachers who receive such. 5. Do they really sponsor the visa of applicants? Yes, as I have explained in previous pages, the organisation you want to work for or study at is the one who applies for your visa at the prefectural (say Imo State) immigration office. After submitting the required details, the immigration office sends the COE to the organisation who then sends it to you the applicant to use during the visa application. Without the COE, you cannot apply for a work or study visa at any Japanese embassy. Without the COE which gets converted to Residence Card at the airport, LIFE WOULD BE MISERABLE HERE. If yes, will the applicant's family be sponsored too? For dependants, that is on YOU. This time, you are the one applying for YOUR dependants to come here. Your financial capabilities would be assessed. If approved, the immigration office sends you the COE, which you send to your dependants. If denied, there is nothing you can do other than re-apply. You cannot appeal the denial nor would the reason for the denial be explained to you. 1 Like |

I recall reading a post by a Nairalander - Causalobserver - that a major reason why it is better to reside in Nigeria with your children is that they stand a chance of being appointed by the Nigerian government to positions and international organisations. So, I ask, how about the children of parents who are Ijaw, Berom, Efik, Ibibio, Urhobo, Bini, Jukun, Tiv, Idoma etc? Are they not Nigerians enough? Why don't we see appointments from these ethnic groups? I deliberately omitted Igbos because we would be told we voted for Peter Obi. Quite alright. But how about dem Ogoni and Kalabaris? Are they not qualified to head organisations and parastatals as well? You see, this is why I don't believe in the concept of racism. I never do because the worst of discrimination comes from those who share the same skin colour as you do. To further exacerbate it, both of us dey poor. So, if the Chinese or Swiss are racist, I can understand that they are rich and influential in the world. But when a so-called black man with who I share the same nationality displays crude discrimination meanwhile both of us dey poor and dey beg for beans and garri, I find it disgusting. But sha, I am not surprised by recent events. I am glad for my upbringing and level of discernment to understand Nigeria for what it is, rather than what I think it should be. I believe many Igbos understand this except for the naive ones who were later flogged like people wey tiff meat when they went to vote. Hopefully, other ethnic minorities understand the country for what it is. That way, they will understand that a patriotic Nigerian is an oxymoronic term. 5 Likes |

Papilagreen: A Nairalander, IbeOkehie, a naturalised American has written extensively about the bold. I am ignorant about the real estate industry in the US. (American hate and cry for their jobs). The same applies to almost everywhere. Most people don't like their jobs, but they do so to pay the bills. Some places DON'T even have jobs in the first place. That is where it gets terrible - someone wants a job, but cannot find one because of fewer economic activities/opportunities. But who am I to say. Beans and garri prices have shot up in Nigeria. Garri o. The same garri Nairalanders used for cruise as comments back in 2012 - 2013. People dey tell u say u do 3 jobs to get plenty money build house or chill baba there ain't good jobs here for a black African man prove me wrong I still stand to be corrected on that. Please, this is not entirely true. In your introductory post, you mentioned having in-demand skills. There are Nigerians, both first generation and second generation, who have good jobs in the US. I have come across their names. The US rewards excellence, hard work, perseverance and determination. I have come across Nigerians and their profiles: they are doing wonderfully in the US. As an instance, see these Nigerians: http://www.thebridgeinitiative.org/mentors Check those based in the US and their profiles. One still has his Nairaland profile. A Google search would show you his comments. There are many such people. These are skilled folks o. Blue collar folks also have the same opportunity provided they are willing to work hard, have delayed gratification and play the long game. This brings me to the question you have refused to answer: what visa are you on in the US? What is your visa as it relates to work authorisation? If you are illegal, obviously, it is going to be hard. But if you are a Green Card holder or citizen, the opportunities are plentiful for hard-working folks who are well-informed of these opportunities. There is no free lunch anywhere. People have to work for what they desire. However, some places have MORE opportunities than elsewhere. The United States is the greatest of such, especially for black Africans who have English as their first language. You say they build house yes very true because they can never own a house here any property you own ain't yours Well, even in Nigeria, no one fully owns a property. The government owns all lands. We have seen seizures of lands by traditional rulers, youth groups, illegal land grabbers and government officials. The Lagos State government stated that over 80% of Lekki is illegal. Wike was on a rampage seizing people's lands in Rivers. In some parts of Nigeria, as a non-indigene, you cannot purchase land. In other parts, Fulani herdsmen have destroyed everywhere such that even the indigenes cannot go to their villages and farmlands. and most of us here dey square together live like peasant. Here to go do odogwu for Nigeria that I can never do. I tried it and almost died I found out that good health is better than riches even the oyinbos here are depressed they find solace in drugs but what do I know nothing i guess. Actually, that is one mistake Nigerians in the diaspora make, except for those who intend to return in a short time. It is better to build wealth in a functioning society where the rule of law exists than dividing one's attention span and little financial resources here and there. So, the aspect of spending like an Odogwu in Nigeria, but not having investments in the US is foolhardy. Again, the economic opportunities are plentiful in the US. Look at the US stock market. Urbane and upwardly Nigerian professionals working in Nigeria invest in the NYSE for higher returns. How much more Nigerians residing in the US? My only advice is if you have a way to go to countries like Sweden finland Luxemburg Norway choose am first before you think of America ooo lol but still I am so happy you have plans to make it better in life. Terrible advice. Absolutely terrible and totally naive about the economic/job opportunities, linguistic differences and racial hierarchy in those countries VS the US. Let me put it straight: NO COUNTRY ON EARTH SURPASSES the US in terms of economic opportunities for a black person. NOWHERE DOES IT EXIST. Not even in sub-Saharan Africa. For a Nigerian who was taught English from nursery to university level, the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is the undisputed hub for economic advancement than anywhere else. No place comes close. It is unheard of. C'mon! On the sole basis of economic strength and breadth of vibrant economic opportunities, the US surpasses all those countries. Which means a native Swede who speaks English and has full working rights WOULD out-earn his counterpart in Sweden. Then, how much more for a black African who has a native black population in the US to use as a bargaining chip to be employed in almost every sector? How many black folks do you know working as managers of MacDonald in Finland? How many black tech engineers work in Google Luxembourg vs a Google office in New York? How many black truck drivers do you know making a living in Sweden vs the United States? How many black nurses work in Norway vs the US? C'mon! Let's be honest for once! Please, on the basis of economic advancement as a black person, no country outwits the US. Certainly, not Nordic countries. Even in Europe, only France and the UK have the full breadth of economic opportunities for black folks. Then you mentioned Luxembourg? What is Luxembourg or Finland compared to a country where English is the widely spoken language and has the biggest GDP (nominal)? Now I will tell you this just in the last two years alone I know about 12 people minimum have relocated from Nigeria to America with my help and the last person was my kid bro him dey disturb me bros I wan come I wan come now he is seeing the reality. He told me last month he said BRO AMERICA no worth the struggle I just laughed if he sees this text he will know I am talking about him cause he is here on NL. Bros in summary if you think you will come gere and make millions in minimum of 5 years, baba na ur ancestors dey deceive you be that. What are their residency statuses in the US? What skills do they have? Remember, you emphasised skills in your introductory post. On what basis/route did they enter the US? 1 Like |

tensazangetsu20: Most of our people think in the short term. Also, maybe he was trying to move to English-speaking countries within that period, but calculated the costs of relocation. Which begs the question, why now when he is almost 50? At 35? Yes. Not now. Terrible move. Even if the firm offers him L1 visa transfer (an assumption), he will lose the social capital he has built over time and sense of stability. Well, the koko for folks in non-English speaking countries, especially places where okay jobs aren't available for the natives in particular is to birth their children in Anglophone countries. Most importantly, the use of the English language should be mandatory. I hope those Igbo fellas who lampooned us for emphasising English over Igbo for diasporans have realised why some languages are more important than others. My leader!!!!!!!!!!! ![]() |
