Religion / Re: Was The Sacrifice Of Jesus On The Cross That Big A Deal? by gfay: 2:12pm On Apr 23, 2013
damosky12:

look friend. Jesus was not a man, He was 'God Himself' who came in form of a man(John 1:1), He carried the life spirit of God because He was born of that spirit and not a man's spermatozua; that is why He was called Emmanuel meaning God (himself) with us (in form of man). He wasnt born of any man (remember it was the the the prencense of God who over shadowed a holy virgin to bear Him), so he was not a normal being neither was he a sinner genetically because he wasnt born by a man's sperm remember, man is a sinner by nature of Adam. Jesus was not a product of Adam!! HE WAS HOLY IN NATURE AND IN DEED. HE NEVER SINNED AND WAS'NT BORN A SINNER LIKE ALL MEN!! The reason why the sacrifice is esteemed is because of.

1)God's love for man for Jesus to die in the place of sinfull sinners when He himself never sinned. (1Corinth 5:21)

2)He himself was the creator of men. Bible says "...and without Him was not anything made that was made"-JOHN 1:3. He was the one who could die to bear the sins of all men because he made them and remember He could have chosen not to die and kill all men, creating a new set of Men. He chose not "for God SO LOVED the world" this world.

3) A man who hated sin was made to carry it in bulk upon himself, that was why He was praying to God. He wasnt afraid of the death but never wanted to be a sinner for once because He had to carry the sins of the whole world (alive, dead and unborn) upon himself even though He never sinned!

Nice one bro..
In addition to answer this

bolaino: It's a question that should be answered with utmost sincerity, with all honesty and with no religious bias (but I doubt my christian folks will be able to do that).

But let's examine the death of jesus, christians from time immemorial have given us the illusion that it was the greatest and noblest thing any man or God could have done for his people, by paying the ultimate price, ( giving up his life),

But I chose to disagree, in the case of jesus, he is said to be God, and he created all things, having this knowledge how would coming to earth and dying and going back to splendor a big deal? I know of people who have gone through a lot worse for no reward at all, not to talk about jesus, who is supposed to be the beginning and the end, this should have been like a walk in the park for him.

But it was'nt, even knowing fully well that he was going to rise up again and be praised in heaven and on earth for all eternity, he was still scared, begging himself in heaven not to allow the whole thing happen.

Personally I would go through all jesus went through just to be given one billion dollars, I know of people who would go through same tin or even worse for less, did jesus suffer more than the slaves in america? Or did he suffer more than the people who were tortured and beaten to death, in places like cambodia, uganda, rwanda etc, the answer is No, so christians should stop saying how difficult it was for jesus to lay his life down for sinners.

Jesus didnt cry out because of the pain, it was because he saw God look the other way @ the magnitude of the sin placed on him.. he cried " Eloi Eloi Lama Sabachtani" Interpreted "My God, My God, Why has thou forsaken me" - God couldn't behold his son with the sins of this world placed on his shoulder

Amelian: Sighs.....op don't allow issues of men dissing singles sisters about not getting married affect you..when u see posts of men talking bad abt women or talking about how to get married, u simply overlook such posts, and read better ones that has to do with enlightenment.. I don't bother myself reading such posts anyways .... Am in my early thirties, am comfortable and beginning to enjoy the different flavours of life.. When I was in my twenties, due to my flashy look, I cut out certain normal things that would. Ordinarily make a lady happy, due to mindset of most nija.. Examples, don't wear lovely earrings o, don't look fly in your dressing, even though u dressed responsibly, the word is dress like a girl suffering, then a suitor will come grin... And also If u can afford a car, don't buy o, oresle no man will marry u. sad... I have good paying job, which could buy me a small car but most of my frnds and family kicked against it... Ha! Don't buy a car o... Always trek to work or take bus, or climb bikes, so that a man will want to marry u... I trek taya grin. Run after moving buses grin, climb okadas, it's by the grace of God , my legs are not broken. As I began to expand in biz, I surely need a car for easy mobility and keep to appointments.. No be person , tell me twice to go and buy a car. Enough of undue suffering to please a man, cause of marriage, which has more responsibilities that one can even imagine..
It's takes the grace of God, Selflessness of both husband and wife and great conscience involved to create and sustain a happy home... But how many homes , can boast of bliss after marriage... Just few...
Society , people can talk from today till tomorrow, the issue is no more suffering myself anymore for men.. If u can't accept my personality...the let me be...the period to enjoy my hard labour is hear... No dulling o... Just mix with like minded pple... That's sees yur vision.. U can't please everybody.. Follow yur heart , serve and leave the rest to God.
I repeat, don't bother yur eyes or brain reading and digesting posts of men dissing women.. Just close yur eyes on those posts and move on..... It's no use.. U can't stop them.. That's my simple advice .

Nice post: especially the part u said U waka tire smiley lol
Are you saying men prefer poor women to rich ones?
Family / Re: Why Do Men Think Women's Lives Cannot Go On Without Marriage? by gfay: 12:55pm On Apr 22, 2013
[CHocolaTE:
]SERIOUSLY? WHY? angry

Why on earth do you people think that women will keel over and die if they don't get married?
Why do you think women are just dying to get married or get you hooked?

Day after day on Nairaland I see posts by men that talk about how some female celebrity is approaching her 30's and is not married or how some other ladies will never get married because of one reason or another as if these women told you that their lives cannot continue without marriage.

Why on earth do you people think Nigerian women are desperate to get married to you?
See eh, the reason why majority of women seek marriage is because of societal pressure from people that cannot mind their business and because they want to have kids that will not be called bastards so you better understand that fact.

Marriage hardly benefits women (except the very few lucky ones that married considerate men) so why do you think they are dying for it?
Husbands come home from work and expect a hot/good meal which the wife is supposed to have prepared; it is hardly ever the other way round and it is very rare for a woman to come home and meet that her husband has prepared something for her to eat yet this is something men enjoy all the time.
Men just stay by the side and watch while their wives whine in pregnancy pains and face the pains of being pregnant for months; imagine the struggles of getting the kids ready for school while fighting early morning sickness.

She works to assist you and must still submit to your whims because society expects her to, and you still expect sexxual gratification when you come home not considering that she is probably exhausted.
Also, after marriage the husband clearly enjoys his life and freedom more than the woman. he can close from work and 'hang out with the boys' instead of going home and nobody queries him, but his wife can never try such, she goes home straight to take care of children, does the cooking and cleaning and what not. She even has to take a break from work sometimes to pick the kids from school and drop them at home then go back to work before finally returning home at the end of the day to carry house work solely on her head because the majority of Nigerian men are lazy asses that think that helping their wives at home is an abomination.

After all the stress of doing housework on her own and taking care of children on her own she starts to look old and tired and her husband complains that she is now too old and unattractive and without thinking twice, he begins to look outside at younger women because his wife is no longer attractive to him.
The worst part is that the children the women is taking care of, the children that she got so stressed for and losses her beauty after birthing are bearing the man's name. The children bear his name and not hers and yet the men will have the effrontery to say that their wife is no longer attractive after bearing these kids so they want to chase other women.

What do women even gain from marriages for heavens sake?
People expects them give up your identity and start bearing their husbands' name, the kids you spend your life taking care of bear his name and claim his home town when they are asked where they come from, the man is very very likely to cheat on his wife and maybe infect her with some STD or another and he will more likely than not, turn her into his slave by refusing to assist with house work while expecting her to contribute financially to the upkeep of the house.
In fact, if not that religions make childbearing outside marriage a sin and society(mostly men) treat unmarried girls like outcasts, I'm sure many women will not get married, who in their right senses will want to marry an overbearing, unhelpful, slave driving no-good lazy ass; which majority of men are, when they can just have their kids in peace and not have to worry about taking care of him?

All of you can relax, eh kwa?
Women are not in any hurry to become your slaves.
Enough of the marriage this and marriage talk you keep disturbing our ears with.

Lastly, I know that not all married men think that women are on earth to be their slaves, I know that some kind and thoughtful men still exist there so this message does not apply to them.
Kudos to the 2% of Nigerian men that still have respect for women and consider their feelings after marriage.
I salute you.
Just a quick question poster, Are you talking from experience?

Smallwoman: My husby is a chelsea fan, a football fanatic. you complain of his not responding properly to your calls, My husby hardly talks to me while watching ball, even to answer simple question like what will u have for dinner must be repeated no less than 10 times. when his club is playing, he is watching, at the same time, his Ipad is in front of him with about four football websites, he is chatting w his friends and colleagues using whatapp on his phone. Ask me where can he place me in all of these? And he crowns it all by buying a new chelsea jersey each year. he will only tell me after buying it so my complains will be useless. I hated at first, i whined and nagged butI have grown past dat. Now i watch their major matches and each time I watch, I predict the event and my predictions have been coming true and they win. So now, I am paid to watch important matches along w him, celebrates victories at my choice of restaurant, and I think it pays better than nagging. Two yra ago, we went to Uk, i helped him to locate chelsea stadiun and joined him for a one hr tour though i didn't foolow him to watch live matches. I still use dat to win him over sometimes. I have also come to realise that all men are addicted to one thing or the other, either work, sports , women, drink etc and if u ask me , i prefer football to women, drinks or nite crawling. So my dear, join him to keep him and be happy. when i am not interested in watching sports i face my own hobby which is reading.

There is a selfishness associated with his behaviour that is making him repulsive to her. It's not a small issue! shocked
Very simple case. Ask her to sit him down and request for the timetable of his clubs matches. If na anyhow club na 1ce a week but if na better club like Manutd na like 2wice or thrice a week. Free him during those times ! Except if na emergency.

Politics / Re: Lagos Ranked As Most Innovative City In Africa, Followed By Cape Town. by gfay: 7:45pm On Oct 26, 2012
kettykin: This people dont get it , you call somebody who tells you the truth envious.

Now Tell me what would Abuja become if the Federal Government did not move the Federal Capital to Abuja , my guess is a very thick Jungle good for hunting game.

Same applies to Lagos without the Commercial Capital status and status as a former Federal Capital Lagos would not be better than Borno state or Cross River state.

The Yorubas who claim to have builr Lagos should have atleast also built Ibadan so that Ibadan would be the 3rd or 4th most innovative City. But what do we have , Ibadan is currently the Dirtiest State Capital.

I once said in this Forum and i keep Repeating it that Lagos without the fore Core Industries which Abacha forgot to move to Abuja ( and which inshalla the next Northern President must move To Abuja by 2019 if Nijiriya remains one) would not be better than Borno State talk less of Kano.

The 4 core Industries which has given Yorubas undu advantage over other tribes are
1. The Banking Industries whose headquaters are in Lagos ( the biggest 4 banks are not owned by Yorubas , Zenith,First bank, UBA,Ecobank and Acess) only GTB is owned by Yorubas , these banks HQ should be moved to Abuja to Ensure National Cohesion and unity. No part of Nigeria should be given undue Advantage over others parts .just as every part of Nigeria should develop at its pace

2. The oil and Gas industry whose Headquaters are in Lagos ( the Multinational Oil industry Headquaters in the Up stream oil industry ;Shell BP, Total fina elf,Chevron, Mobil e.t.c are in Lagos which is against the Norm) These Oil and Gas companies have their Rigs in the Niger Delta and make all their Money there and it is great injustice to the Niger Delta people to have the HQ in Lagos when Lagos is not a Federal Capital or an oil Producing State. They pay their tax to a non oil producing state, Notice how all the Freedom fighters and rights Activist from the South West dont talk about this injustice to the NigerDelta one of such fools was in Abuja to take the FG to court over some flimsy excuses and he seems not to know about the injustice to Niger Deltans , God Help Nigeria .

3. The telecommuncation Industry whose Headquaters and gateway switches/Billing platforms are in Lagos( these Telecommunication Industry located their Billing Platforms in Lagos ) These shoudl move their Gateway Swiches and Billing Platforms and Headquaters to Abuja to enhance interconnectivity among other things it will be also easy for NCC to adequately monitor them and provide real regulation against bandwidth abuse , inteference and supervision. Presently they are in Lagos even though they are making money from the Niger Delta and the Commercial cities of the South East, the Big trading states of the North and they are paying taxes to Lagos state Government despite making money from other states.

4. The maritime Industry for a Country as Big and diverse as Nigeria to have all its 3 Deep Sea port in one place in a state Apapa leaves one in a state of shock and utterly speechless, this is nothing but a claculated attempt to kill off enterprenuership for a counrty with one of the Largest coast lines.
Nigeria has 6 ports 3 of such ports are in Apapa and are deep sea ports while the other 3 ; warri, onne and calabar are in nger Dleta and are very shallow sea ports . The FG should as a matter of Urgency and National stability implement 3 Deep Sea Ports in Niger Deltaand make Ibaka Port a Maritime Hub for the Country
The Nigerian Maritime industry is even bigger than the Banking industry. and is about 20 % of the GDP for an import dependent country like Nigeria , all this add up to the GDP and Economy of Lagos
This will ensure that even in state of war and ApapaPort is attacked , the country can still depend on the Niger Delta Ports for its exports and imports and it reduce the stress on the Roads as a result of transportation of Imported goods

The Federal Government through the Ministry of Aviation should ensure that the International Airports in Enugu and Cargo Owerri come on stream and also that Eastern Flights to and fro Overseas originate and terminate in the East so that the Enugu Airpor and Ph Airport can become Aviation Hubs and not just for Pilgrimage to Isreal, if it means sacking all the stumbling blocks in aviation ministry then so be it .

And if they move the four major industries to Abuja, How will they succeed when the market is in Lagos?, Is it Telecoms or maybe they can send pole and mast from Abuja to 18 million lagosians or na maritime, maybe hey would transport the goods from abuja to lagos by road...

Come on man, you cite your head quarters where it's most advantageous and as @ now, Lagos has it!

That you've lived all your life in Yorubaland and travelled extensively within it does not make you know didly squat! You might know a bit through research but you didn't live it as a Yoruba. There are some core values which are invested in us as Yorubas that you, no matter how much you rub shoulders with us or even marry into our tradition that can never be prof-erred upon you. Aside that, there is travelling and there is living it. You, have only lived your life as an ibo man in the west but not as a Yoruba man. The different is stark.

Desola; your yoruba and Afam is Ibo, I am yoruba but I lean towards Afam's disposition, Some ibo's know about the Yoruba origin than the Yoruba's themselves just cos your yoruba doesn't make you more knowledgeable, There's a political consensus that there are more muslims than christians in Nigeria as with population but we all know it's not true and I beg to differ that there are more muslim yoruba's than christians..
