Benin city is being used for a pilot scheme for the introduction of CNG (compressed natural gas) in Nigeria. There are about 12 filling stations there, and thousands of private and commercial vehicles using CNG. NOTE: There is a huge difference between LPG (liquified natural gas) and CNG. The last time I checked, LPG had to be converted to CNG before it can be used in cars. |

Electrical wires used in vehicles are sleeved thus eliminating possibility of damage to wires by corrosion or rusting. You can only notice corrosion/rust at terminals. However, for the purpose of the subject of this thread, we may consider any damage to car wires that are NOT visible to the eye (eg burns or cut) or result of human mal-handling as EXPIRATION. nurey: |

My investigation and industry experience proofs that most cars sold in Nigeria's tokunbo market are salvage titles. Examples are accidented and even flooded, which comes with damaged electrical modules/ecu. So, to that extent your idea is not new. What I think is new is that you want to execute your transactions with full disclosure of the vehicles actual status and also offer advice on were repairs could be procured. It should be very viable because the vehicles are offered very cheap since they are already written-off by insurance and so very affordable to your buyers. However, you need to check-out how your proposal will fit into Nigerian government's new policy of SON inspection certificate for used imported vehicles (cost N20k). [b]Recently a new client narrated to me his experience involving repairs of his ford scorpio car having difficulties starting. Mechanics and Electricians got to work offering solutions such as: i) Setting of Timing, ii) Starter motor (Kick-starter) replacement, iii) Electrical circuits (fuses, relays) checked, iv) Sensors (Cam) swap, v) also ECU changed yet no solution then the technicians announce that the vehicle wires have EXPIRED. For those who want to ask if vehicle was diagnosed. My client is of the opinion that he believed he was working with technicians who came highly recommended; and on his part he provided everything that was requested of him. PLEASE RESPOND IN THIS ORDER: i) Do vehicle wires expire? Or was it a final excuse for their failure, by the technicians handling the job? ii) If wires expire, how do we ascertain this? iii) If wires expire, what will be the remedy? iv) If wires expire, at what stage should this diagnosis be made vis-a vis all the other suggestions that were proffered and Client made to bear the expenses for the failed trials? [b]Servicing Consumables: i) Fram filters: These are OEM quality and very affordable. If you are servicing your vehicle with synthetic oil for extended mileage, then you need to ensure that the oil filter will be good to go for that length of time (avrg. 6months). There are fram filters for different car models, you only need to know the part no. for your car. The exposed mesh filter (Mahle) seen in the 2nd filter is what you find in more recent engines (2009 specs and recent). This particular one is for Land/ Range rovers 2010. ii)Oil: There are basically two types of oil. Mineral based oil and the other is the Synthetic oil. This is irrespective of what brand name (Mobil Total, Castrol, Toyota, Honda etc) on the can. Also the winter weights (15w20, 0w30, 0w40 etc) could apply to either of the 2 types of oil. We might discuss the relevance of the winter weights some other time. Now cost and frequency of service will determine which of the 2 types of oil you will use. If you intend to service every 3,000-5000km (2-3 months interval) then you go for a mineral based oil for average N3000 per gallon. But if you intend to service every 15,000-20,000km (5-6 months interval) then you go for synthetic oil. for average of N9000 per gallon.[/b]

You don't need an immobilizer, but certainly want a tracker if you want to know the location of your vehicle if stolen or if your driver is dishonest. Amagun: Tracker for a 2013 Toyota Hilux Automatic. Do you think I need a Tracking Device since the key is programmed? |
