oyb: apparently in nigeria, kids birthday parties are more about an excuse for adults to throw a party than anything else.

And this is a problem how?

SOJ111: Does it make sense for some people to have these oil fields and others don't? On what grounds/basis are these fields shared? These fields belong to Nigerians and it is wrong for some few to share 'our' collective wealth. Can an ordinary man/wonan apply to buy/lease one of these oil fields?

An ordinary ( average) person can't buy/lease an oil field.

It doesn't matter how many times you repeat world class airport, fact still remains that they didn't ask them to build world class airport and no world class airport was expected, but an ugly eyesore for N700 million wasn't part of the expectation either.

You really need to drop your world class airport smoke screen because it's sounding more and more ridiculous.

K.... I'm done

Still doesn't mean taxpayers money should be wasted on eyesores with little or nothing to show for it. We are talking about today and today's project with N700 price tag.

LOOL taxpayers money..... Okay. N700m i still insist is too little an amount to remodel an airport to a world class level. Like i said there's still room for improvement but this airport will serve its purpose. You probably won't even use this airport in years but for some reason you just want to criticize.... Which is actually fine.

Nevertheless, i just believe more needs to be done, its not the best but its not the worst.

Perhaps Malaysia, Thailand, Philipines or even Bahamas are no a first world? Have you seen their Airports? Just google if you haven't been to those countries to see things for yourself...then comeback and tell me if FG government led by GEJ is truly sane

Checked out the airports and there's nothing so special. Of course their "main" airports are better than this airport. Just so you know, I saw airports worse than this in the phillipines and Thailand (just google).

Chill though, i don't get how the state of our airports is GEJ's fault. Like its just been two years fam.... Not 20, more can be done definitely but this airport will be able to serve its purpose nonetheless. It's all a matter of time, we'll get those world class airports.

chucky234: N700m to remodelled an existing airport is more than enough amount to put up something meaning, that's N200m more than half a billion.
What I am seeing their is not worth more than N200m,where are the remaining N500m?

And you know this because you paid the contractor, workers, engineers and all yea? Please! Man

N700m on that ugly eyesore is below the lowest class too..

Go and look at other third world airports in Africa and compare... That's all
Politics / Re: Pictures Of The Remodelled Benin Airport by Godogwu: 1:09am On Mar 13, 2013
chucky234: Here is the pic of Leonardo Da Vinci airport in Rome regarded as the worst airport in Europe,if they regard this airport as the worst then Benin airport will certainly not be rated as there is no basis for rating.

That's a first world country yes?

Lets be fair on this thing, I'm not saying that the Enugu airport looks world class or looks its best, there's definitely room for improvement. That aside, comparing any Nigerian airport its western counterparts, obviously we can do better but there are airports way worse than this in Africa. It's just a matter of time, the US had over 300 years to build their airports to what it is today and same goes for so many other first world countries.

Frankly, N700m is too little to remodel any airport to a world class level, common people build houses and buy cars worth more than that in Nigeria.

Culture / Re: People Build Better Houses In The Village: Why? by Godogwu: 5:28pm On Mar 11, 2013
Well i don't know if its an ibo thing. Alot of people do it for different reasons;
Self-fulfillment: some people believe that you haven't really succeded if you haven't built a befitting home for yourself in the village/town.

Cost: You can probably build a massive house in the village you're from with about N50m but that would barely get you a plot of land in lekki, ikoyi, wuse, maitama or GRA in portharcourt.

Just cause they can: well just cause people can, people do... Like where I'm from its almost like a competition, everyone's building massive massive beautiful homes and no one is taking any chances cause they want people to talk about it. You know that sorta thing.

My parents are probably guilty of this too, not like the ph house is crap though but the villa home beats the lag and the ph houses by a margin. Makes it very cool going to the villa.

You shouldn't do this though, i mean the whole comparison thing.... Just admire and keep moving.

ABAKA72: You are a bloody foo.l. How did your Alakija buy the oil block?, was due process followed?, was he the only one that has money to buy.? does it mean no body from the host community has money to buy? how come people from Niger delta don't have oil blocks if there was tranperancy in the allocation or sale of the oil blocks? reasonable people are speaking out against delibrate injustice being done to the SS people and you are here posting trash. Just keep your stupi.d opinion to yourself.

First of all Alakija is a woman and frankly I'm not going to get into some baseless debate with you because clearly you don't have facts. Go and google Alakija, lulu Briggs and the rest who aren't northerners but own oil blocks. I'm not saying that everyone followed due process but a few or rather a hand-full did and if you have no facts to back your "over the top" claims then we can't have an argument. Bye

Still proves my point that some people bought these oil blocks no? Who now sounds foolish? *sigh*
