Shazia Mirza said "I have decided that enough is enough and I have decided to just grow it, grow it like grass and try and live with it," she says. "I decided this needs to change. Every woman has hair. This is a fact. It is a natural thing that all human beings are born with. It's about time hair on women was celebrated not condemned.

"A woman can definitely be sexy in a pair of Jimmy Choos and a pair of hairy legs, she can be sexy in a Wonderbra and hairy armpits, and she can be very hot in a mini skirt and hairy arms. The public just needs to see that's ok and it's possible."

secondly majority of europeans are smaller and skinnier and healthier than nigeirians,i live in the us and visit europe all the time, and go home often the smallest people i ahve seen are asians and europeans adn in asia they have lots of mcdonalds"

@ finemocha
Please, jokes apart, palm oil is certified as excellent for your health. Dosent clog ur heart arteries, brightens your eyes, makes ur skin supple, etc. We consume it in its natural form u know. Most othr fats and oils used in cooking (@ Macs??) have an ingredient list that includes monosaturates, polysaturates, polyunsaturates, saccharides, lectin, and a host of other synthetic, chemically reconstituted blahs! Thats why they need a pretty pack and a pretty name to sell them. If they put the ingredient list on teh front of the pack, u'll run 4 ur life grin Props to good ol palm oil o jare grin grin

Meanwhile, if europeans are skinnier than us, its because its almost a treasonable offence in europe to be meaty grin grin lol grin grin Mama Africa no send!!

My Dear Catholic Brethren,

Its almost impossible to share the faith without disturbance. I am compiling catholic resources for a new thread so we can all go there for references. We have shared so much here but sincere catholic viewers are assaulted at every turn.  wink

I ask that debaters remain on this thread so that they keep the arguments at their preferred tempo.

I will post extensive information on the new thread. There will be no need for replies. In fact, replies can come only after the first couple of pages, so that by the time a viewer accesses the thread, he or she can have their fill of spiritually uplifting  material before coming across the OTHER stuff. Then, they can either decide to go no further, or engage in idle banter. Either way, it'll be a choice made. grin

We'll keep this thread active for discussions though. Keep the faith. cheesy

Glory to Jesus, Honour to Mary!!! grin. If u dont like this, abeg REPORT ME TO JESUS grin cool grin

I ask forgiveness for all who offend our blessed Mother and our Lord on this thread and other places.

"Forgive them Lord, for they know not what they do, "

I pray the Lord's mercy will save before his justice chastises, amen.

By the way, @cgift

HONOR YOUR FATHER AND MOTHER that your days may be long in the land which the LORD your God gives you (Exodus 20:12) is the first commandment with a promise from God himself!!- you see how he himself values the paternal and maternal relationship?

That's preposterous and overtly delusional!I guess when your mother dies, you will make her statues all over the place and start bowing down to it! I guess that's what you call honour!

I actually lifted the Exodus quote from Ephesians 6:2. Thats where its stated that the commandment is the first one with a promise from God himself. Amazing how you can think Ephesians 6:2 is preposterous and overtly delusional!!

Thank God you stopped at honour, what of obey? Gozizi, let me ask you two kweshuns (according to pilgrim.1).

Will you obey your mother if she tells you to go and do something you know is evil? Answer me with all honesty.
Will you obey your priest/bishop if he/she tells you to go and do something you know is evil? Answer me with all honesty.

Our Blessed Mother has asked only one thing of us - ", Do whatever He (Jesus) tells you"

For the Record!!!!

HONOR YOUR FATHER AND MOTHER that your days may be long in the land which the LORD your God gives you (Exodus 20:12) is the first commandment with a promise from God himself!!- you see how he himself values the paternal and maternal relationship?

It is also the first commandment of social responsibility (i.e. that refers to our relationship with fellow humans - the first four deal directly with our relationship with God)

It is therefore the basis of our relationship with our neighbour. You cannot love a person and demean his Mother.

Glory to Jesus!! Honour to Mary!!!!!! grin cheesy wink grin

If Jesus was obedient to the law of God, it means even he HONOURS his blessed Mother. Catholics are only copying him.

Glory Glory Glory to Jesus!!!! Honour Honour Honour to Mary!!!!! grin grin grin

Welcome on board! Pls browse through all the pages on this topic, you'll find that there's no need to say more. Instead you will come across some very enriching pieces. Meanwhile, you may wish to share some inspiring aspects of your faith, pls do.

@brothers and sisters
Jose Maria Escriva's writings are available FREE online! My favourite is "The Way". Its a collection of practical instructions on daily living from a Senior Priest (Jose Maria himself) to students under his care aspiring to be priests; hear him -

"Read these counsels slowly. Pause to meditate on these thoughts. They are things that I whisper in your ear-confiding them-as a friend, as a brother, as a father. And they are being heard by God. I won't tell you anything new. I will only stir your memory, so that some thought will arise and strike you; and so you will better your life and set out along ways of prayer and of Love. And in the end you will be a more worthy soul."

I have found his writings to be very invigourating for my faith. Try it:

Travel / Old Nigerian Passport Still Valid - Read Breaking News! by gozizi: 4:01pm On Oct 04, 2007
BREAKING NEWS!!! Thursday 4th October 2007

Following the reported harrowing experience by Nigerians at foreign embassies over the newly introduced e-passport, the Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Immigrations Service (NIS), Mr. Chukwurah Joseph Udeh, has debunked the stories making round that the present Nigerian passport is no longer valid.

He said both the readable passport and the e-passports will be used side-by-side until 2010.

Udeh expressed displeasure with the development, insisting that the old passport, which has been subjected to various abuses, would be phased out gradually.

He said that the hiccups experienced by the public in obtaining the e-passport was as a result of the suppliers not being able to supply the data sheets that were needed initially for the processing of the electronic passport.

He also said that the wrong impression created by some embassies was also responsible for the high demand of the travelling document.

The three-year span for phasing out the old travelling documents is to avoid any sort of rush.

He said Federal Executive Council, in its determination to ensure the service completely eliminate fraud in passport acquisition, has approved the deployment of 147 auto gates to all border entry points across the country for the success of the biometric passport.
The electronic passport which came into effect on July 27, 2007 has generated negative reactions from cross sections of Nigerian applicants.

Applicants have complained bitterly about the tortuous application process and the time factor—from the commencement of the application process to the issuance of the travelling document.

NIS, on its part, anchored the complaints on the novel nature of the passport and the impatience of applicants, disclosing that the objective was to restore the dignity of the Nigerian passport.

Udeh said that despite the shortcomings, the e-passport has come to stay. The agency, he said, is making significant progress and by January, the problem would have been resolved.

Udeh said the e-passport is the solution to the abuse furred by the old document, which has become a source of embarrassment to Nigerians who had been subjected to a series of ridicule especially at the points of entry abroad.

Listing the advantages of the e-passport, he said that with the security features of the e-passport, it would be difficult for anyone to use another person’s travelling document. This, he said, is as a result of the uniqueness of the e-document that is tied to the holder’s personality.

Mary - the Immaculate Ark of the New Covenant

Exodus 25:11-21 - the ark of the Old Covenant was made of the purest gold for God's Word. Mary is the ark of the New Covenant and is the purest vessel for the Word of God made flesh.

2 Sam. 6:7 - the Ark is so holy and pure that when Uzzah touched it, the Lord slew him. This shows us that the Ark is undefiled. Mary the Ark of the New Covenant is even more immaculate and undefiled, spared by God from original sin so that she could bear His eternal Word in her womb.

1 Chron. 13:9-10 - this is another account of Uzzah and the Ark. For God to dwell within Mary the Ark, Mary had to be conceived without sin. For Protestants to argue otherwise would be to say that God would let the finger of Satan touch His Son made flesh. This is incomprehensible.

1 Chron. 15 and 16 - these verses show the awesome reverence the Jews had for the Ark - veneration, vestments, songs, harps, lyres, cymbals, trumpets.

Luke 1:39 / 2 Sam. 6:2 - Luke's conspicuous comparison's between Mary and the Ark described by Samuel underscores the reality of Mary as the undefiled and immaculate Ark of the New Covenant. In these verses, Mary (the Ark) arose and went / David arose and went to the Ark. There is a clear parallel between the Ark of the Old and the Ark of the New Covenant.

Luke 1:41 / 2 Sam. 6:16 - John the Baptist / King David leap for joy before Mary / Ark. So should we leap for joy before Mary the immaculate Ark of the Word made flesh.

Luke 1:43 / 2 Sam. 6:9 - How can the Mother / Ark of the Lord come to me? It is a holy privilege. Our Mother wants to come to us and lead us to Jesus.

Luke 1:56 / 2 Sam. 6:11 and 1 Chron. 13:14 - Mary / the Ark remained in the house for about three months.

Rev 11:19 - at this point in history, the Ark of the Old Covenant was not seen for six centuries (see 2 Macc. 2:7), and now it is finally seen in heaven. The Jewish people would have been absolutely amazed at this. However, John immediately passes over this fact and describes the "woman" clothed with the sun in Rev. 12:1. John is emphasizing that Mary is the Ark of the New Covenant and who, like the Old ark, is now worthy of veneration and praise. Also remember that Rev. 11:19 and Rev. 12:1 are tied together because there was no chapter and verse at the time these texts were written.

Rev 12:1 - the "woman" that John is describing is Mary, the Ark of the New Covenant, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars. Just as the moon reflects the light of the sun, so Mary, with the moon under her feet, reflects the glory of the Sun of Justice, Jesus Christ.

Rev. 12:17 - this verse tells us that Mary's offspring are those who keep God's commandments and bear testimony to Jesus. This demonstrates, as Catholics have always believed, that Mary is the Mother of all Christians.

Rev. 12:2 - Some Protestants argue that, because the woman had birth pangs, she was a woman with sin. However, Revelation is apocalyptic literature unique to the 1st century. It contains varied symbolism and multiple meanings of the woman (Mary, the Church and Israel). The birth pangs describe both the birth of the Church and Mary's offspring being formed in Christ. Mary had no birth pangs in delivering her only Son Jesus.

Isaiah 66:7 - for example, we see Isaiah prophesying that before she (Mary) was in labor she gave birth; before her pain came upon her she was delivered of a son (Jesus). This is a Marian prophecy of the virgin birth of Jesus Christ.

Gal 4:19 - Paul also describes his pain as birth pangs in forming the disciples in Christ. Birth pangs describe formation in Christ.

Rom. 8:22 - also, Paul says the whole creation has been groaning in travail before the coming of Christ. We are all undergoing birth pangs because we are being reborn into Jesus Christ.

Jer. 13:21 - Jeremiah describes the birth pangs of Israel, like a woman in travail. Birth pangs are usually used metaphorically in the Scriptures.

Hos. 13:12-13 - Ephraim is also described as travailing in childbirth for his sins. Again, birth pangs are used metaphorically.

Micah 4:9-10 - Micah also describes Jerusalem as being seized by birth pangs like a woman in travail.

Rev. 12:13-16 - in these verses, we see that the devil still seeks to destroy the woman even after the Savior is born. This proves Mary is a danger to satan, even after the birth of Christ. This is because God has given her the power to intercede for us, and we should invoke her assistance in our spiritual lives.

My dear brothers and sisters, how una dey? been away for a while but i've gone through all i missed. NA WA O!!! grin. Anyway, its October, Rosary Rain for the whole world. Try not to miss a day. even when ure busy, say a Hail Mary, slowly, from the depth of your heart.

By the way, @ lawyer,
"*"*"*Firstly gozizi, you don't know my type and i probably was invested in the catholic faith way beyond you. I was born into a catholic family, did my holy communion at the age of 6, attended a catholic primary and secondary school, did my confirmation at the age 8 and almost enrolled at a catholic seminary in S.S Peter and Paul Ibadan to become a priest until events changed my course of studies.

My 3 aunts are nuns and my uncle is a priest. So i used to have the catholic blood flowing in me 24/7 but as i realised on this thread, it's either you take a stand on something and become extremely dogmatic in it and refuse to see the other side or you open up and analyse certain things that continue to remain a mystery and when questions are being asked in the right direction, half answers and truths keep on cropping up from all angles. I defended the catholic faith to the best of my ability then but realising that, catholicism would continue to bring and pose more questions than answers, isnt the best thing right now."

Like I said, You NEVER START!!! Catholicism is not a trade whose practice flows in generational blood. No matter how many popes your family has produced, catholicism is not like shoemaking or tailoring!! You're either enlightened by the Spirit or ure not. Ure either inspired, or ure not. Ure either FULLY INSPIRED by faith OR URE NOT. You know how many rabbi elders St. Paul's family produced? Did he not kill for Judaism? You catholic pass as im Jewish?  Please tell us wot u really came here to hear! Do u honestly want to analyse? Analyse what? God? Jesus? Mary? the Catholic Church? Did u pray for the Holy Spirit's guidance? No? You'd rather have direct answers from here abi? This thread abi? Very insightful of u!To even attempt to gain insight into the workings of God and his divinity on the pages of human discourse is evidence that your faith lacked substance in the begining!!  Who on this your almighty thread can PROVE to u IN THEIR OWN WORDS that God exists? Who? Do u even realise what FAITH is? Make I help u?

Do u know what it takes to believe in a God u have never seen? A Christ whose only CV is 33 years of poverty, with not a single writing of his as evidence of his existence? With ALL the gist u know about him coming from 12 uneducated disciples - most of them with prison records? Have u ever talked about the wonders of Jesus only to be asked 'WHERE You THERE?' and still continue to profess Jesus? Have u ever witnessed a MIRACLE? No? Have u watched the sun come up? Have u seen a flower budding open in the morning? Have u seen ants build a hill? Have u touched air? Have u witnessed a child's first words? first steps? Or are u waiting for Jesus to physically slap u in the face with salvation?

My dear brother, Christianity is very challenging stuff. Catholicism takes guts. You have got to have the balls to take whats coming to u, and the only firepower is FAITH - UNSHAKEABLE FAITH!!! Faith in what u ask? Read pages 1 - 21 of this thread, u may pick out some of them. God has given u free will. CHOOSE AND MAKE NO APOLOGIES FOR IT!! As u see me so, I am much more HEAVILY invested in the catholic church than u claim to be, but even at that, I question my faith at EVERY opportunity! I am not a catholic because my father said so, but because I am continuously convinced, on a daily basis, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that this stuff is THE WAY JESUS ESTABLISHED PERSONALLY!! If u really want to analyse, do yourself a favour and do it properly, pray for enlightenment then proceed. Dont come here explaining your decision to leave catholicism or christianity or whatever - no be us go ask u on that day ( I hope u still believe that day will come - make e no catch u like thief for night).

You want to fully grasp God? and all that he is? Let me help u! Go to the beach, yes any beach! When the waves recede, go near the water and use your palm to scoop out some sand - make sure the hole is the full depth of your palm o!! then run back and wait for the waves to fill that hole. As soon as u can get the entire ocean into that your hole, then, my dear brother, u will have FULL & PHYSICAL understanding of God's workings. so much so that u can come back to this thread and teach us all to know better!!!

In the mean time, I will live by my catholic FAITH, in full confidence. If I am wrong abeg let my blessed Mother Mary save me. Please, leave me with her!!!

People, DONT FORGET UR OCTOBER DEVOTION!! - say a Hail Mary wherever u are!!

Glory to Jesus, Honour to Mary!!!!  grin yes ooooooooo! If u no like mariolatry, report me to Jesus!!!!

@ lawyer,
puh-leze!! I know your type. Coming here to claim that human exchange has destroyed your faith!! You never start!! Christianity is not for the faint-hearted. Catholicism is for the very brave-hearted, the true soldiers of Christ at the battle front! You've been sitting on the fence all this while so at least your experience here has forced u to take a stand. My advice?? Stand for something, or u'll fall for anything - like u just did for some posts on this thread!! grin

Brothers and sisters, “Where is that in the Bible?”

The Bible is not always easily understood. The whole Book of Revelation is a glaring example. St Paul’s own contemporaries found him difficult to understand, as St Peter himself states in his second Letter: “So also our beloved brother Paul wrote to you according to the wisdom given him, speaking of this as he does in all his letters. There are some things in them hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other scriptures.” (2 Pt 2:15-16)

The difficulty of understanding inspired text is clear. As in Acts 8:30-31 when Philip asked the Ethiopian, ‘“Do you understand what you are reading?" he replied, "How can I, unless someone guides me?"’

The need to understand everything in context and to be certain of this meaning is apparent, but where do we encounter help? With a tradition of understanding and practice along with two thousand years of experience, study, and wisdom which started with Jesus’ teachings to the 12 Apostles, the Catholic Church just can’t be matched.

Nowhere in the Bible is it said that our faith must be reduced to only the words printed in the Bible. In fact in 2 Ths 3:6, Paul writes, “Now we command you, beloved, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to keep away from believers who are living in idleness and not according to the tradition that they received from us,”…and earlier in 2:15, “So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold fast to the traditions that you were taught by us, either by word of mouth or by our letter.” Paul reminds the young Greek community that the tradition must be kept. grin

Matthew Chapter 7: (1-6)

@ all catholic-haters:
1 “Do not judge so that you will not be judged. 2 “For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you. 3 “Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? 4 “Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ and behold, the log is in your own eye? 5 “You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.  wink

6 “Do not give what is holy to dogs, and do not throw your pearls before swine, or they will trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to piecesgrin

But if he will not listen, take one or two others along, so that 'every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.'
